How do you pronounce "Leeke" and other company/sculpt names?

Jan 28, 2007

    1. Hi guys!! :) I love Leekeworld's dolls (they are so cute!! :D ), but I've just realized that I may not be pronouncing "Leeke" the right way. :sweat

      I've always pronounced it like "leak". Is this correct? Thanks! :thumbup

    2. Lee-keh I think it is, cos I think it's a Korean word. I looked on the Korean site to see if it was written in Korean anywhere (Korean is written phonetically) but couldn't find it ^^'

      EDIT: It's the title on the web browser! It says 리케 which I would pronounce as li-keh.

      Hope that helps ^^

    3. I've always said Lee-kee :P

      So I have to start saying Li-keh XD

    4. Lol, I've always pronounced it like the onion - leek!

    5. I had a feeling I was pronouncing it wrong! :sweat "Lee-keh" makes more sense anyway, since it's a Korean company. :)

      Boy, it's gonna be hard getting used to saying "Lee-keh" instead of "Leak"! :blush

    6. I've also been saying "lee-kee", just cuz it sounds cute. XD;;

    7. *coughs* I've also always pronouced it like the veggie... Leek all the way!

    8. I've always pronounced it "leh-keh", because I tend to pronounce japanese and korean words as I would pronounce german words.

    9. Leaky! ^_^ Personally I have huge problems changing my pronunciation of something if I've been pronouncing it one way for a while. So I'll probably continue to pronounce it "leaky," but its nice to know how it is supposed to be pronounced.

    10. Heh, I've always pronounced it like the vegetable/when water escapes, so it's nice to be corrected - it never occured to me the e had it's own syllable!

      Liz

    11. i've always said "leak", but i've started adding the "eh" to the end. o_O;; But not like "EH" more like a german uh....thing....-is confuzed- @__@;;;

    12. Lee-kee-or just adorable..I do love my LeeKe girls!

    13. I normally pronounce "Lee-Key", but sometimes pronounce "leak" because it does miss a lot of stuff for the group order recently......
      They mailed off the order of Dec. 19 but forgot the Dec. 3rd package.....According to my friend. :sweat

    14. Ditto! XD;;

    15. I pronounce it 'leak,' but I doubt that's right. x3

    16. This is quite cute, (sorry, but I read write speak korean). it's pronounced "Lee-Keh" it could be written "Li-Keh" but either way works fine I think.

      to go slightly OT, it's confusing sometimes when I hear English speaking bjd owners say certain words or terms (such as 'face-up'. I understand it 100% when it is written, but when I'm speaking to someone I stop myself from saying 'make-up' or meku.) Just interesting connotation.

    17. i say 'leak'

      like. . .

      there's a leak in the roof. :sweat

      i know. it's wrong. ^__^;;

      but now that i know how i'm SUPPOSED to pronounce it, i'll probably start saying 'li-keh' now. it does make a bit more sense. :P
      kinda like how i learned that yder was 'ee-dah' instead of 'eye-derr' xD

    18. That's so cute! :fangirl: I can understand that completely. :) I'm terrible at pronouncing other languages. :sweat

    19. I was pronouncing it "Leek". Hmm. Oh well, we all know what we're trying to talk about anyway. I'll probably continue callling it "Leek"

      I took 3 years of German.. and it stuck with me. I now pronounce stuff that way even though I've lived in the US all my life.

    20. I pronounced it "Lee-Kee".
