1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How has your style of dolls changed from when you started collecting?

Jan 6, 2020

    1. Purely in terms of aesthetics my taste hasn't really changed but it certainly did change in terms of which sizes I like to buy. I started the hobby thinking that I'd only buy big dolls (65cm or more) but when I got the first ones in the mail, I soon realized that they are just way too big and heavy for me to handle comfortably. I then decided to only stick to buying MSDs, preferably not any taller than 45 cm. Nowadays I don't really care that much. I buy whatever I like, although I'm still a bit hesistant about buying very large dolls.

    2. Not much really. Mostly anime dolls and overwhelmingly fantasy sculpts (ironically my first preorder BJD was only the latter). Main thing I'd say is a growing interest in semi-real dolls and sci-fi sculpts being a curiosity, and a consideration of more human dolls since I got Hansel (off-topic due to being a vinyl Imomodoll but he's worth mentioning in regards to my taste in dolls), still the more human dolls are still mainly fantastical in concept, either being magical or otherwise from fantasy settings. I'd also like to add that I was mostly interested in YoSDs originally and I thought anything larger would be too much, but now, despite me having more YoSDs, I prefer MSDs more.

    3. When I first started in the hobby my style was definitely different than it is now. I leaned heavily towards art dolls which weren't super versatile for me. Now I tend to go for more nautral faceups and "unusual" sculpts. I put alot more emphasis on styling rather than the actual sculpt itself.

    4. Yes. I was introduced to the hobby thanks to Andrea from Nicolle’s dream on yt. So I liked really girly minifees. Since then I’ve mostly liked boy dolls, and now I even have kawaii anime inspired doll.

    5. I feel like my collection keeps changing. I started out with a lot of the strangest dolls I could get my hands on, and focused mostly on 1/4 and smaller...Now the vast majority of my collection are 1/3, and most are regular humans with one or two little extra traits. What's funny is that my very first doll is one I'm still fond of and find very cute, despite the rest of my early dolls getting sold off long ago. I was sure I'd love her when I decided on her, and I guess I was right!
