1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How is the BJD market fairing now?

Apr 23, 2016

    1. So since some of the older sculpts are up on the market, does this mean that Angell-Studio Claudia V2 or some of the anthro SOOM Monthly Dolls are creeping in the market?

    2. I don't remember seeing Claudia recently, but then I wasn't looking for her, either... Soom dolls in general do pop up pretty regularly, though. It just takes patience to wait for the one you want.

    3. Dang on Claudia, but yay for the Sooms. I'll just happily wait around on the market and just watch, but thank you for letting me know!

    4. its really wierd, if you are a seller; its hard at the moment, i sometimes have general chats with dealers in the EU and they have said that its been very slow lately and as a seller myself, i can back that up fully, it IS slow, people just dont have the money or have other things they need to pay for asap. its just life sadly, its a slow year it seems.
but if you are a Buyer, there is tons of people selling so you are spoilt for choice! but like some people have said, unpopular sculpts just dont seem to be shifting at all sadly.

    5. I always price my secondhand doll items fairly - less retail in most cases, and i've never had trouble selling before using the marketplace here. But the last 18 months have been really bad. I literally can't sell anything, even heavily reduced. One head, which refused to sell for under a 3rd of the original retail price, I eventually de-listed. I've never had do this before even in 2008-9 when we were in deep recession.

The other week I was looking for a fairyland dealer in the EU, all four dealer's listed on the DOA wiki were out of business. So it doesn't seem to be great on the new side of things either, at least in the EU. I mean, someones got to be buying dolls as new ones are coming out all the time. I did see two others of the head I was trying to sell on the market place got purchased, priced slightly higher then mine. So who knows? To be fair, I do think we have it worse then most here in the UK - shipping prices have gone úp so much since the Royal Mail was fully privatized. But i'll have to be a lot more careful about what I pick up in the first place in the future. I rarely sell dolls as it is, but in the past I would occasionally buy the odd head out of pure curiosity, which probably won't happen anymore.

    6. Being so new to the hobby (2 weeks in!), I'm willing to take some gambles on second hand dolls.
