1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long are you willing to wait?

Jun 17, 2007

    1. Hmmm... well, I'm an impatient person, so once the "standard" time is past I start to worry and become anxious. As long as it doesn't take TOO long and I get the doll in the end, I can usually bear it.

    2. I'm used to 3 month waits for my dolls (on top of my layaway period, which is generally 4-6 months). A couple of times, I have had dolls arrive much quicker - I had one doll ship two days after I finished paying her off, but I haven't had any dolls take longer than 3 months to arrive.

Because I purchase my dolls on layaway, the majority of my payments are well out of the Paypal chargeback period by the time my doll is fully paid off. Because of this, I'm very careful about which doll companies I buy from - I pretty much only buy from very large, established companies.

I honestly think 3 months is the longest amount of time I'd accept as 'reasonable' for a BJD doll to be cast. Not because I don't like waiting (as mentioned, when layaways are factored in, I often wait 7-9 months for a doll), but because I wouldn't trust a company that couldn't produce dolls at such a rate. A company that took longer than 3 months to produce a doll would strike me as a poorly-run company, and I would be reluctant to give a company like that hundreds, let alone thousands, of dollars for a made-to-order product.

    3. I'd say if I really like a doll and it was hard to purchase [waiting for it to b available/in stock or what not] then surely I'd wait.

    4. I bought a doll from Fairyland on August 15th and they said upto 8 weeks and he was about 10-12 weeks. I ordered another doll from Denverdoll on August 24th and I don't have her yet.
But I don't mind waiting. It makes it frustrating, but exciting at the same time. I guess every company has issues. They can't guarantee to have it to you at an exact date, something always comes up.

I'd say I would be willing to wait 4 months for a doll (cause I have waited almost 4 months for my Minifee tan Celine and i'm still okay at the minute, but I will get annoyed/agitated soon)

    5. I don't mind waiting as long as I know why I'm waiting and I'm being informed about progress. Of course it has its limits though. If anything sounds too fishy or they don't respond to several messages . It's hard to judge. It's up to your judgement . If seller doesn't state possible delays I would consider it fishy. If they inform you straight away it may be just a work load they have to do before they can process your order.i always read up lots of feedbacks before buying. .I was scammed once so I am vary who I order from and would rather dispute than loose my money again.

    6. I'm willing to wait for awhile as long as I trust the company. My longest wait was for my Dollshe Saint, and I waited over a year for them to produce and ship him. It ended up being 13 or 14 months, I lost track. That was absolutely ridiculous, but they did offer to refund payments and they were always in communication with everyone waiting. I wanted my doll at the price I paid (it was during their half-off event during Christmas of 2010) and I trusted Dollshe, so I was willing to wait. Companies should ship within the time frame they quoted to keep a good reputation.

    7. The period for making complaints to Paypal is very short, but if you use a credit card, it's much longer (not sure exactly how long, but I've had to resort to a charge-back for something that never arrived from an ebay seller once, since it was months after the purchase date). So, basically, I feel fairly safe when using a credit card (through Paypal or directly).

I'm willing to wait however long it takes, as long as the doll arrives eventually.

I'm usually not in a hurry for dolls. They arrive when they arrive and I'm used to that. If I'm hunting one on the Marketplace, sometimes I can hunt for years, so I'm used to being patient, I guess.

I've had dolls on a six month layaway with a further two or three months for production... That was a LONG wait, but worth it. There are people who have had to wait a year or more for a company to send out their doll-- I never have had to go through that, so I guess I'm lucky. (And yes, it helps if the company is communicative and keeps close to the times they post.) If I get a doll quickly, that's good. But I don't mind waiting for something that I really want.

    8. I'll wait however long it takes I guess since I pre-ordered Volks Miku Dollfie Dream in September and she probably won't be released for another year ;D At least I don't have to pay until about a month before she ships.
I try to forget about the doll and just let time pass. Most of the time this works no problem but sometimes I pine for whatever doll it is to just be home already. I collect anime figures as well and they are almost always a pre-order. So I'm used to waiting 3 to 12 months for an item to come home. It's a little harder when it's a doll since they are more special than a figure but the regardless of what it is I've ordered I always get a little impatient especially towards the end. So I guess I'll wait however long I need to but I don't always like it :D

    9. I have no problem with waiting. I think it's a problem when the communication stops. Even if the time period has been passed, I would be okay to wait. It's just that the minute the company or person becomes unresponsive that it becomes a problem.

    10. I have to say i'm saving for my first, and I've waited a year before being allowed to save for her... so I guess a few months won't hurt me :')

    11. i think it does vary. some companies will say it will arrive 2-3 weeks once the doll is completed. however if they have to cast it, and not just pull the doll off a shelf and send, it will take longer.
i've had dolls that take 2-3 months from payment until it's even shipped, because of the casting (which varies so much on the weather to how the plastic reacts to solidifying). then i've had one that surprised the hell outta me by arriving a few days after i made a last layaway payment, because i wasn't aware they started casting her when i made the FIRST payment. so it's really not a set in stone process.
i do find that knowing what season to order in helps. i know if i order in the fall it will be made faster than the spring, because of the moisture levels (although you also have to account for the xmas bulk).

as to the actual shipping... we can't blame doll companies for crappy postal service. that's just unfair.

    12. I like to know how much I'm expected to wait... no matter how long that is. I was willing to put up with the Volks preorder times twice already -see an entire year of waiting- and fairyland's absurd backlog -my fullset Ante Flowergarden took six months!- so as long as I'm expecting it it's alright. Usually most companies are overly optimistic with their speculations on their deliveries so if one wants to have a clearer image of how long they'll wait before ordering I'd advice checking the waiting room threads here on the forum.

Now if I'm not expecting a long wait and I receive one... I start getting annoyed and anxious and it's not pleasant at all...

    13. This is why I always look into the costumer service of a Company to see how they treat their customers, & I make sure to use a Credit Card so even if Paypal's time frame is over.. I will still be covered on my CC's end.

Personally I think that Paypal should do a temp hold, & only release the funds when the items is ready to be shipped, bc there is a waiting period for our dolls that usually voids Paypal's dispute time frame.

So far I've never had a problem with a broken or damaged BJD (knock on wood).. they've all been packed super safe :aheartbea

I've waited a few months to get my Volks FCS Girls, DOD, & Bambicrony, & all of these companies have never let me down. These dolls take time and these companies are no doubt under a lot of pressure from people that are mentally drooling and can't wait to get their hands on their new doll.

The waiting room on DOA is a peach.. because everyone can wait together, & that takes your mind off even thinking about bugging the doll company for an update. ;)

It's funny how I've felt like I was waiting for ever.. then when the Mailman rings my doorbell and I almost kill myself running down the stairs before he can stick that little card in the door or mailbox & take off.. then it's like.. that was sure fast. *_*

    14. I am willing to wait as long as it takes for my doll to get to me :D Since I am still in the saving phase I am actually stoked to start officially waiting for the doll to be made.

    15. I got a couple of my dolls directly from dealers and then the rest were second hand except for my Yo-SD...For the first time ordering from a company like Resinsoul I'm very pleased with their turn out time. Only a week.

    16. It depends.

If I'm buying new, and I trust the company, they aren't having issues, communication is good....about 6 months.

However, if they tell me one month and it takes 5, with no communication, then there are problems with the doll? NO. Not going there again, because they've lost my trust. I'd file with Paypal/credit card even sooner, if the company was having big issues, like dolls arriving damaged, warped, unfinished, etc.

From a secondhand seller, I don't think it's reasonable for them to have the doll for over a week after I've paid, unless we have agreed on a specific shipping date. Depending on where the doll is coming from, I understand shipping could take a couple of weeks or more, but I don't think it should EVER take over a month for a secondhand doll to arrive.

I know people who have waited over a year for Dollshe and Ringdoll, but I wouldn't. At that point, I'd probably be so stressed out and upset, I wouldn't even want the doll anymore, too many bad emotions connected to it.

    17. What annoys me is the lack of honesty of some companies. They have in their website 45-60 business days but end up taking much longer than that. The longest I waited was 9 months when I was told 2 months. I was very unhappy about it. I also waited 8 months for a Dollshe, however I was told it would take that long and that didn't bother me at all.

    18. Patience is a hard virtue for me. 6-8 weeks is a long enough time to wait. More than that I start getting really antsy. I usually will not buy from doll makers that take months and months actually. I'd rather buy secondary market.

    19. As long as it doesn't go much beyond the original estimated shipping date, I can wait--though the closer I get to the end of that period, the more antsy I get! (I'm checking a current order daily now, even though it doesn't hit the estimate until next week.) If a shipment goes much beyond that, I may ask the company to see what's going on, but for the most part, I've learned to stop worrying and love the wait. :)

    20. It depends on what character I'm waiting for. Some characters I'm just plain not willing to wait all that long for. Others, I am. It also depends on the doll, and if the company prepares me for a long wait. For instance, my AE Cordelia took WAY too long IMO because I wasn't prepared for the wait. But now I know it's a long wait for AE, so I'm not so worried about my little 1/6 mermaids.

Of course, around the holiday season things take much longer. But if a company averages, say, 2-4 months without the holiday season, I'm prepared to wait 4-6

But on average, the most I'm really willing to wait for a (non limited, non holiday) doll is 6 months.
