How long did you take to buy your grail doll when you used secondhand market?

I have only just tried that myself, so can't comment on how quickly it will work, but it seems useful to let people know you're seeking something specific!

I joined in 2008, discovered my "grail" in 2009, and finally was able to find and buy him in 2013. But a friend found the fullset on YJ, I didn't get him here. I was lucky to get the whole thing for what the blank head was going for in the MP.

 

Four years between when I saw my grail for the first time, and when I found one I could afford.

 

Depends on how you look at it.

I first found my grail probably around 2003 or so, but put him out of my mind due to price for ages and just focused on other dolls. Around 2010, I started seriously looking for him but every time I found one, I never had the money. I finally bought him in 2014. So, either 11 years or 4 years, however you want to measure. (And then I ended up selling him because I was too afraid to play with him...I no longer have a grail.)

 

It took me 10 years to find the head of the grail doll I wanted. She is everywhere but the price is always to high even for the head alone. So it took me 10 years to find a head in good condition with the default eyes at a price I was willing to pay. Under $1000. I pay $850 including shipping and PayPal feel and I found the head on Mandarake. My grail is a Dollfie Dream dynamite Sasara.

This is her now I named her Unicorn because I was sure I will never have her.

 

My grail is currently on the marketplace right now, so I know it's possible to find him secondhand. The only thing that holds me back is his price, and lack of a long enough layaway option. X.x I know it will take me a long time to afford him, I've waited many years so far...I can wait many more. Just seeing him there gives me hope.

They stopped making him in 2012? Ish? And I found out about him in 2015. So I've been waiting 6 years so far. Not too bad for a grail hunt, I suppose. They reopened orders for him recently, last month I think....but again, couldn't afford him even with the layaway plan available. OTL

 

I second posting a WTB post on here and other places. I have been able to get second hand dolls that way such as my Soom Idrial and Nenad.

As for a grail doll...for a very long time I wanted a Soom Azur. I would find him but he would be blank, or mermaid tale only, or missing this or that. In the end, Soom re-released him and I bought him straight from the company! But he doesn't have a wig or clothes or eyes or face up from the original release. So sometimes companies do re-release.

I'm curious to know what everyone's grail is! I think my current grail is an SDC Renee which I do see but I never have the money set aside for her. Eventually I will get her!

 

Technically my grail doll was my first doll, so I already had him when I joined the hobby. I found him on ebay after searching only once. I should note, though, that I first saw this doll in roughly 2006, but didn't have the means to even try for him until 2012. I obtained him around the new year between 2012-2013. So... six years?

My second "grail" doll I discovered in 2013, and managed to find one here on the marketplace, through a "want to buy" thread, in 2014. So that was one year, but I admit I was very very lucky.

 

Maybe 6 months to 1 year?
I had made a Want To Buy listing here. Sometime later someone made a Want To Sell and saw my my WTB (and that I was occasionally still bumping it) and they messaged me offering the doll.

Literally the only way I could have got her at a reasonable price. Like it was higher than retail but not crazy like what people on YJ! were listing her for. So I paid what they wanted, I didn't haggle or anything. >w<

 

I'm at 7 years and still looking for my grail doll... Luts Jamong Pegasus Full Package (2014). I already put a WTB order up but I'm afraid my demands are too high for such an old doll...

 

I honestly never actively searched for the doll I described as my grail. I just searched occasionally, and one day I happened to search and there was one for sale. So he kind of just fell into my lap. The doll came out in 2012, and I got him in 2020 so... eight years? I guess what I'm trying to say is, never give up! You never know what might happen!

 

Two years since I saw an Amande Chibbi Moon on the Marketplace here, but then I wasn't checking every day the entire time.

 

My two grails are Souldoll Shiva and Dollfie Dream Alice Kuonji. Shiva was released back in 2010, I believe and Alice was 2013? I haven't been actively searching, but that's 11 years and 9 years and counting.

 

I've never found my grail for sale, an Advanced Doll+ girl. I first saw one in 2003, so it's been a while.

 

Hmm, my grail was sold in 2010 and I got him in 2019/2020. However, I only started searching from about 2018 onwards and posted a WTB in 2019/2020, once I posted the WTB I got him in a matter of weeks iirc. But I had to compromise; I wanted a human NS Soom Heliot - the Desert Hermit release. I was only able to get a fantasy Heliot in NS, from a free choice event. I had the head modded to remove the horn and open eyes, though he still has the fantasy legs and ears, they kinda grew on me. Technically I still don't have a human NS Heliot, but it's close and Im happy with him like this, too.
