1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long do you generally keep faceups for?

Mar 9, 2015

    1. I normally do my own, and unless I have one that just seems unusually fantastic, I general redo them about every 6 months to a year. I don't usually feel bad about it at all, since my skills continue to improve, why leave a doll with a subpar faceup if I can do better? Also, most of dolls are teenage characters who do age in RP, so they need to gradually "mature" in doll form too.

If I do send a doll off for a faceup, which is extremely rare for me, but does happen when I just can't seem to get it quite right, I'll leave it for a long time. Faceups tend to get expensive, especially when I own so many dolls, so sending them off every 6 months or even once a year is just out of my budget.

    2. I like the idea of changing the makeup. Just like real girls, I'm sure BJDs get tired of the same makeup lol!

    3. If I don't care for the way that the doll is provided to me with its arriving face up, I'll have it redone. However, once it is and it is to how I like, then I leave it permanently. I view it as my doll's birth face and altering it makes me feel like I'm doing a bad thing.
