1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long do you wait before getting a new doll?

Jun 2, 2013

    1. I've acquired 3 dolls this year in about a 2 month period, and that's a year after my first doll was brought home. I'm about to order a Minifee Celine on the moe body. She'll be my last doll this year. >.> It was the only way for me to get my honey to let me buy her. I just hope there are no limited that tickle my fancy before the year ends.

    2. I don't really think about a particular timeframe to wait between dolls. It's all about when they fit in convenience and budget.

My progression was DD2 Yukino in spring 2009, Dollmore Model Doll Leah in late fall 2009, DDdy Alna in August 2010, and finally Iplehouse JID Tania in December 2012.

The main reasons for the big break between Alna and Tania were a few big electronics and tools purchases I made during those two years. I had wanted Tania since 2010, but she only finally fit in my schedule at the end of 2012.

I have to admit, though, that I really wish I got my Tania much earlier.

    3. After my first doll, I waited like 9 months. But since then i've bought 3 dolls in the space of about 2-3 months. I'm impatient when I see something that I want haha

    4. I haven't even received my first doll yet from Fairyland (Mnf Celine). And I have already purchased another doll from the MP (Mnf Chloe).
I said to myself that I'd wait a year or so with just one, but nope, I'm hopeless. :P

    5. I wait for a couple of months. Since I have a very judgemental little brother, he always gets all upset when he sees I have a new doll even if I explain it to him that I've paid for it and everything. :doh
But I think if you have an incoming doll and decide to order another one it's fine, since processing time will take forever anyways sometimes by the time you actually receive that doll months could have passed already.

    6. It's totally up to the person as to how long they wait between dolls.

Some people like to wait and get to know the doll that has just arrived. Others will buy several dolls at one time! Some will never buy another doll at all. The decisions span the whole gamut... all depending on the person. And upon their finances!

I always wanted to wait. Preferably wait up to a YEAR. However, I never managed to do that (except once). So there's always the intentions and whether you actually follow them that play a part, too! *_*

    7. Personally, I've found that I find it more satisfying to put longer gaps between purchases. After buying my first doll I went three years before buying another, at which point I bought several within a very short period of time. I was fine with that (maybe because they were dolls I'd considered during that three year period), but I then followed that up with a new doll every month the next year - and that's when I started wondering what I was doing.

It wasn't a matter of cost or space - I could afford it and I have a dedicated display room - but I just felt uncomfortable with the simple fact (and speed) of accumulation. Last year I bought two dolls, and this year I've bought one so far - and those are more comfortable numbers for me.

That said, I think plenty of other people have more of a collector's personality, so for them it makes sense to have limitations that are purely based on finances or space.

    8. Luckily my mum was perhaps more enthralled with the dolls than I, so I didn't really hold myself back when it came to spending a few years back. I could never afford anything else but dolly things, but I liked it and I enjoyed the hobby. However, if spending such huge chunks of money at one go is making you feel uncomfortable then for goodness sake don't cross your own lines! No matter if people say that "meh, just get one if you want one" I really don't think you should step over your own comfort level when it comes to spending a lot of money. Before you know it you'll regret your choice deeply and your guilt won't get any less. Baby steps :)

    9. I wait around 2 or 3 years between big purchases (full doll or bodies). But I buy wigs or clothes in between those times :)

    10. Usually if I have another doll I'm thinking about at the time then I'll wait 6 months to a year sometimes more before purchasing it because I might change my mind and I need time to bond with the doll I just got ^^".

    11. Depends on my luck. because I have bad luck, I've had to wait about three years before ordering my second doll. thankfully she's on her way but I'm hoping to order another dolly before the end of July.

    12. It depends on money, Limiteds, whatever comes up. I had no plans on buying any new BJDs after my Luts El, but then a DC Ada popped up in Denver Doll and I just had to take the opportunity to buy her :) Now Luts is putting out an adorable Limited that I might see if I can afford.

    13. For me it depends on money funds and if I see a doll I like that fits the character I want. Normally I wait at least a little while before geting a new doll, so I can spoil the one I have and then move onto the next.

    14. Well I´m trying to find next perfect doll. My first one came this march. So when I find and have money I will buy. Maybe I will buy this X-mas <3

    15. I am having this problem right now. I just got my new girl home a few days ago and I am already looking for another. What is worse is that I don't even have the money yet. Luts is coming out with new limited dolls though, so I think it would be okay to order one so soon. If it wasn't for the limited dolls, I would want to wait longer to spoil the doll before getting another one.

    16. It's great to hear all the different answers! I have already fallen for another doll, which actually ended up being a PKF. I always thought I'd stick with MSD size, but I guess not!
I ordered her through DDE and it turns out they had one in stock, so even though I thought I'd have like a month before paying the rest of the deposit it turns out it's gonna happen right now :P
So I waited like... a month. Ohhh I thought it was longer XD Oh well, I didn't really feel like I was bonding with the boys very much, and I think I'm going to end up selling one or both :(

    17. I guess it depends on whether I have the funds or not and if the doll is extremely limited or not.
Apart from the first doll, the others were kind of event ones that "forced my hand", so to speak. :sweat
But now that I'm extremely broke from all these dollie purchases, I won't be able to get another until next year. In the meantime I'll keep looking for dolls that better fit my characters.

    18. For me it usually comes down to whether the doll I want is limited or not. If it's not limited, I tend to wait awhile if I have recently ordered a doll. But if it's limited, I may wind up ordering multiple dolls in a span of a few days. Of course I must have the money available to spend too.

    19. I don't think there's an appropriate waiting time for myself. It's whenever I reallyreallyreally-gotta-have-that doll and when I have enough to either buy them or start a layaway. Even if I just got a new one, who knows when the next family member will come along. ^^;; All my dolls are secondhand, so it's also about wondering if somebody else will buy them before you get the chance.

    20. I don't even consider there being a cooldown time between dolls; if one pulls at my heartstrings repeatedly, then I will adopt her. :)
