1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long do you wait before getting a new doll?

Jun 2, 2013

    1. Probably depending on money--I have two and just bought a third, but I'm going to need to save for that fourth, especially since it's to shell a character who is proving...hard to find a sculpt I like for. I don't really think in terms of a fixed time period.

    2. Wait? What's that?

    3. Basically when I get a doll and start to make a story, I see where another character fits in. That character needs a body... And onto the Internet to find a doll! It's usually 1-3 months after receiving a doll that I'm looking for/ saving for another one.

    4. Actually I want to wait till the doll is arrives because between the order, preparing, shipping and arrives time is a few month between it to save some money for another doll ;)

    5. Honestly its up to the person. I mean i usually keep a budget of $300 each month to buy things online ( including dolls and acessories ) > but sometimes i take out of savings to buy a doll that was on sale, second hand or a price that is perfect for me to afford.

I started collecting dolls since january ( the moment my first doll arrived) and since then its been one doll every 2 months or so ( if its brand new ) if not i would say more than 3 ( used ones ) yet perfect for what i was looking for :D

I guess i dont really have a preference between new and second hand dolls, just at times how fast i want to recive it :D

    6. I usually wait 3 months or more before planning my next doll purchase, to give me time to save, prepare for accessories for my incoming doll, etc. It might seem silly, but I don't want to take away from the excitement of the incoming doll by buying another.

    7. I order one doll a year, at the beginning of summer. I did this with porcelain dolls before I learned of BJD's, and I always call it "my summer doll."

    8. Usually have to wait for the pre order time, which is good cause I can save up for it.

    9. So far I've averaged between seven months and a year between each doll purchase. This feels like a good rate to me. It's usually at least five months until I start feeling like I really want another arrival, and that gives me plenty of time to figure out what each doll is going to need, to browse for/make accessories and do some drawings and writing, so when the doll does arrive everything can snap into place right away.

    10. I think if you have the funds, and it feels right; then, you should go for it. I haven't bought anything since January. Of course, I blew my budget, so that's part of why. I also just recently finished a 6 month layaway, and I'm enjoying not having that monthly payment. However, if I saw something I just had to have, and I had the money; I would go for it. Hence, Farkas and YinLong only days apart, and now the shopping drought.

    11. My first two were ordered days apart, only because my birthday and Xmas coming a month apart meant that I (briefly) felt rich! I'd like to buy two a year, keeping in mind that as my resin family grows, I'm selling off my other dolls, but with other priorities for my money, one a year is more likely.

    12. Depends on funding! I'm sure that if i have more money, my doll collection will get bigger and bigger in no time! There are so many great dolls out there!

    13. To me, I think it just depends on if the money I have can be allocated to a doll and not to bills, ect. If you have the money and you see a doll that you just love, I would say get it. Especially if it's limited.

    14. Generally around two months :sweat I've only bought two full dolls within that period once, though (Soom Galena Nov 2009, Soom Chalco Jan 2010). Mostly I would join splits for heads or fantasy parts. I've slowed right down these days, though. Luckily for me, Soom's style has shifted, so now I mostly wait for Free Choice Events to do my buying from them.

    15. So far two or three months. Its been my rule that I have to receive one doll in the mail before I can order the next. I usually don't buy the next until at least a few weeks after receiving the previous, but there's an LE I've got my eye on right now, so I might order before I get my awaited doll.

    16. About...a year and a half? It's the crapping bullets because I owe money, and the wait, that keeps me from buying dolls more often. ^^"

    17. I have little to no self control so the second I get paid is when I purchase my next doll. :sweat
There is ALWAYS a doll I'm lusting after. I never have enough.

    18. I usually make a list of dolls I want then slowly go about getting them. Up until last year I thought I was done.I had all my dolls but I realized that there were some that I still yearned for so I put them on my list. Of course that list has now gotten bigger since I have been looking at more doll sites lately.

But to answer your question, I make sure all or any bills I have are paid off or are really low before I get a new doll.

    19. I'm kind of trying to figure this out right now, my first doll hasn't even arrived yet but I've already found two more that I really want ;A;! I think my financial situation will probably be the deciding factor, when I have enough extra cash (And no surprise bills) for a new doll then I'll probably move forward with buying another. But the idea of missing a doll I really want is a little sad, but there are always new dolls after all!

    20. I generally don't have a waiting period. If I have the funds and I really like the doll then I just go for it and buy it without a second thought. If I don't have the funds at the moment and it's not a limited edition doll, then I always put it off for a later time, but if it's a limited doll then I always save up as fast as I can in order to buy the doll before the end of the ordering period.
