1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long do you wait before getting a new doll?

Jun 2, 2013

    1. I like to live life on the wild side-- cautiously save (and save and save) and then see if I still want the doll. Crazy, right? Hold on to your hats and pearls because then I see if there isn't a doll I had in mind in the marketplace here, some long-lost want I can afford.

I went once without buying a doll for three years, and in the last year, I've bought two. So it really depends on my funds, what I'm doing in the hobby, etc.

    2. How long I wait before buying a new doll depends mostly on my financial situation. I don't have the best paying job in the world, so it sometimes takes a long time before I have enough money to buy a doll. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to sell a lot of things so I can afford a new doll quickly after the last :). I've noticed about myself that I tend to buy every doll I want as soon as I can instead of completing one doll first, but I guess that also has to do with the fact that I have only been collecting for a few months.

    3. I always wait till a couple of days before I get my new student finance. Usually I have some savings left (usually not enough for a whole doll haha) which I know I'm definitley not going to need. Then I spend it all on BjD's/stuff

    4. Seeing as I'm a poor college student, I usually wait until I have enough free money to spend before I buy a doll... And it is RARE for that to happen. I've been waiting about six months without purchasing a new doll so far!

    5. i used to buy dolls every few months, but then i started living away from home so it takes me longer to save now. i usually just buy 1 doll each year, unless i find limited doll i like a lot then i will take out of savings if i can. i think it's easier for me to just buy only one because then i spend extra money on their clothes and wigs for a year and they are finished by the time i get a new doll. :)

    6. Well I bought my first doll from a friend-that took payments so that was nice.
I found my dream doll and it's itching at me like crazy!

However I promised Lafeu-:my doll: (Is that silly?) that I would finish him first or get his new head/face up.

Tho if I just get the doll that I want-then I won't have to worry about the doll no longer being on sale-ya know?

    7. For me when a new doll arrives I want to buy another one right then! I don't usually do it as I am not rich but it seems getting one begets wanting more!

    8. I try to have a 6 month gap but the last few haven't had that gap. I got one in November, then one in February, then one in August and another for Christmas now I have one on order. I was very strict but lately I've just splurged. I think I'm coming to the end of my collection so there are just a few I need to get now. No more dolls 'til late next year!

    9. Same as Uctie, I have to save up for months because I do not have money to spend for myself or save up every month ~

    10. when there's the right click I order the doll, usually for layaway when they are limited.

    11. I don't have a set waiting time, but I do notice that I mull over my options a bit before buying anything.

    12. I'm picky so I always spend lots of time thinking about a doll to make sure it'll be perfect for my characters, but other than that...it's difficult for me to pay for a doll all in one go usually, so I like to do layaway. I've made myself promise to only have 2 at the most on layaway at a time, so that sort of keeps me from getting too many at once. ^^ I have 2 right now on layaway, and a third that was already paid for and is currently still in processing land (waaaah!), so I probably won't start seriously thinking about getting another until March or so of next year. Of course, that also depends on other expenses as well.

    13. It depends. Getting a new doll mainly relies on finances and if it 'feels' right to get the doll at that time. If I can support a layaway, I go for it. My wishlist now has moved towards the secondhand market so now I'll be putting money away with each paycheck to have the funds when I find a doll, head or part on my list.

    14. Since I generally have plans for what characters I want to shell, the wait times are generally dependent on saving up the amount needed. Sometimes it will have been a while, and I won't have bought a doll in ages, and I get that niggling "Man I want a new doll" feeling, but usually I try to make sure that I have a character for them to come home into, and don't just buy on a whim.

    15. When I have the money! I'm sad I'll miss out on the Only Doll event because I don't have the money to even start a layaway this month. :(

    16. Well when I first got into bjds I was buying them like they were going out of style. But that's how I start hobbies...with binge buying. It's not necessarily healthy but it's what I do lol. But as of this post it's been over a year since I bought a doll. Well I bought a body this past spring but idk that doesn't count to me. I've been putting off getting her a head b/c I don't feel financially comfortable. And there is the answer:

I wait however long it takes for me to feel financially secure enough to purchase another one.

    17. Depends on time and money! I think layaway helps with pacing time, but then the marketplace just destroys all patience.

    18. I think it'll depend on how much funds I have and whether or not I'd prioritize getting another doll over getting my current one clothes and other accessories. I guess that right now, I'm thinking of waiting until I at least amass some items for my current girl before getting another doll?
For me, I think that before getting a new doll, I would first make sure that, yeah, the dolls before him/her would have enough clothes for themselves. Unless if I really, really like the doll and he/she is only available for a specific amount of time, then I'll probably get him/her. :3

    19. I was planing to wait a very long time but I found my grail for sale and she is less than half the price I usually see her going for so I snatched her up aha.

    20. Hard question to answer as my brain says no more then a month. But my bank account would say I have tried to hold off longer.
