1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long have you gone without doing anything doll-related?

Mar 1, 2015

    1. So far it's about 2-3 months. Even recently I don't take him out of his box as often as before, but it's because of college and I needed to focus on assignments. Sometimes I feel guilty too for not doing anything doll-related, as well as occasional shifts of concentration on other hobbies.

    2. I am reminded of a line from one of the Addams Family movies , where Gomez asks Morticia, "Tish! How long has it been since we have waltzed?!" ....and she replies,

      "Gomez, darling....HOURS!"

    3. Life's gotten major in the way, I literally have had no time or energy for hobbies in the past 6 months. It feels so sad. I have my dolls all out on display and look at the sewing machine and paints longingly on occasion.
      Maybe this fall?:eusa_pray

    4. A week, on a family holiday... My partner would not appreciate me bringing a doll a long, first thing I did when coming home, was check on my girls. ;)

    5. I'd have to say... a little over a year. As you can see under my icon, I joined in April of last year; a month later, I had ordered my DC Elizabeth. Before then, I had been practicing with ABS BJDs and so forth, but went dormant as I was waiting for Elizabeth to arrive. I did wrong by being a little TOO patient (I heard some people wait months for their doll, so I did the same), and didn't realize that USPS didn't leave a proper note on my door or give me notification when the package arrived... THEN SENT IT BACK TO CHINA. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :...(

She eventually came back in April 2015, but even then, I had to just let her sit in the box as I was focusing on finishing my classes and my portfolio in applying for a masters program. But after finishing all that, I did it! I returned to the hobby, and have been obsessively trying to do ALL THE THINGS I left undone all this time!

Just goes to show that just as you can wait for your dolls, they can wait for you....
Except for the ones who yellow angrily at you! :XD:

    6. My health went to heck over the last 18 months, shortly followed by life in general. So I ended up having to take a break from most of my hobbies for a year or so (especially bjd, which I couldn't really lift... medical issues concerning backs are a pain in the well back). Now I'm trying to get back into the swing of things slowly, so many things happen in the bjd hobby ^^.

    7. I've said it in another thread, but sometimes I get overwhelmed in life in general and just have to take some time to relax and do as little as possible to recover, so I'll sometimes go several-month stretches without so much as thinking about dolls. Beyond that, this last year has been incredibly hectic for me with emergency travel and moving twice. I didn't even unpack mostly in between moves... so obviously everything hobby-related stayed packed as well.

Now that I'm in a home I own, life is (mostly) stable, and I'm learning to balance myself more, I'm hoping I can definitely spend more time on the hobby, even if it's just designing and planning.

    8. My crew are always out in their display cabinets, but I have gone quite awhile without doing anything with them before. The longest period of inactivity was about six months, brought on by medical issues (not mine-) that just monopolized most of my time and energy. I didn't do much of ANYTHING hobby-wise during that period, doll-related or otherwise.

    9. I find that after taking a break from the doll hobby to focus on other hobbies is something I have to do for myself. I have a large variety of interests and I can't see myself neglecting all of them just for one(like dolls) for too long. But I Am glad to know that most of my hobbies are interchangeable and work well together, so even if I'm painting a canvas.., I have some good experiences using art materials that I can use to attempt to do faceups.

    10. I'm actually the opposite! I leave my hobby at my dorm when I come home for breaks. Then when I get back I try to make time for my dolls, but sometimes that doesn't work out. I hope to be able to get more time for the hobby in the future. Sometimes it's hard to stay completely engaged because I'm also a daily Lolita, and I collect anime
      Merchandise.

    11. Five years, give or take. I went to grad school in England for a year, so I had to leave my dolls behind then. The most frivolous thing I took was my marker collection, and it was enough of a pain to transport back and forth. I was too afraid of losing/breaking my dolls.

Anyway, that was a couple of years ago. When I came back, I became interested in hyper-realistic action figures, and I only recently started doing stuff with my bjds again.

    12. I'm back from a 5 year financially-imposed hiatus. It's very nice to be back!

    13. I'm recently back from a 2 year break because of a lot of life stuff going on. There was an illness in the family, a move across states, school stress, and my wedding. I'm happy to be back.

    14. I have gone literal years with just patting my doll's head when I walk past. This hobby tends to go in waves for me depending on what else I've got going on.

    15. I have house filled with dolls and so I see and enjoy them every day. And I lie awake at night deciding who I want, or how I want to dress someone, or whatever. And when I am away from home I sometimes take one with me. And even if I do, I miss the others.

    16. I decided to KNIT Xmas gifts this year, so I've been focusing mainly on that lately. Once the finishing touches on my bro's gift are done, I'll be back to sewing and knitting cute tiny things for my cute tiny people. :)

(I also have some porcelain dolls that I'm going to restore and give to Goodwill.)

    17. I have always had my dolls out on display, but over the last few years I'll go for nearly a year without doing much other than looking at them. I've only recently felt really inspired to re-dress them or try new wig/eye combos. I even bought some material to try to make some clothes. Of course that keeps getting sidetracked by life (funerals, family gatherings, making handmade gifts, sick pets) but I'm hoping I can really dig in this weekend. :)

    18. I just finished my first semester away from home at college and sadly in my dorm I don't really have anywhere I feel safe putting my dolls ): I was worried even about my vinyl kids, but I don't have room for them so sadly I've been away from the hobby for about 5 months and my winter break is only a few weeks long, so I probably won't get to REALLY do anything with them until summer break :...(

    19. Oh my gosh, that would kill me!!
      I get antsy about my dolls whenever I go to work.. I sometimes wish I could just bring them with me ^^;

    20. For THREE FREAKIN" DAYS.. Last April, I had a company outing at the BEACH, so back then I don't know how to protect my doll, so I made a decision to leave him at home :'( Every hour, I'd call my parents to ask him how was he doing. XD Every time I go to work every morning, I kiss their head and say good bye XD I'd even say to Chaos (one of my naughtiest crew) be good. When I go home at night, I'd hug them and kiss them again and we'll watch movies.
