1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How long was it between getting your first and second doll? (pt.2)

Sep 26, 2022

    1. Hm. I think about half a year? More or less?
I wanted so many dolls at the beginning, but I made a list and only got the first one on my first order. Then, to be sure I really like the doll, I removed myself from the hobby for about half a year and when I still wanted the second doll on my list so many months later, I decided to get him after all.
I'm planning on waiting at least a similar period of time for my next purchase.
That way I don't just hemorrage money.

    2. I waited like 13 years to get my first doll, which was in November 2022. Now I already bought my second 4 months later. So it took me a long time but now I've jumped right in!

    3. Seeing as a was a broke student with limited funds, a year or so :3

    4. About half a year to a year iirc!

    5. I bought two within hours on the second-hand market - both artist-designed Dollstown. Love them both to pieces. Am fighting the urge to keep adding to the collection

    6. Waited for a really long time before purchasing my first doll, but it took only half a year for me to buy a second one. She was in tan and I was afraid that she would be sold out pretty quickly. To this day, these two are the only BJDs that I own.

    7. I had my first doll for a year before I got another, then I got a lot, and there were periods of more and periods of less :whee:

    8. I think it was about 6 Month between first and second doll.

    9. Honestly, it was about... 9 months, if we go by arrival dates.

    10. It was about 8 years between my first and second doll. Mostly due to financial issues and moving. Then my second to third dolls was about a month lol

    11. My first doll was a Resinsoul Ya.. I ordered her being interested in BJD but not knowing anything about my personal style. When I got her I knew i liked BJD but wasn't too in love with her sculpt. It wasn't long before I found Lillycat and fell in love with Kitty Jolie. I sold my RS and got my Kitty a month later! Instantly in love :D

    12. A bit more than a year. I think my average is a doll per year, some years I got more than one, but some years I got none so it balances itself out.

    13. Around 6 months between first and second doll back in 2012. The last doll I bought, however, was in 2019 if I'm not mistaken.

    14. Fifteen years or so...I got my first doll as a teenager but because I lived in the country and didn't have great internet access I missed out on the community aspect of the hobby. I pulled her out last year with the intent of selling her and instead bought her a lot of friends

    15. Probably 3 days.

      On an unrelated note....

Did you know compulsive spending is a symptom of ADHD?

    16. Almost a two-year gap between my first and second doll . One is brand new and the other is second hand bought locally.

    17. If we're only counting resin, then about 8 years. I bought my Soom Teenie Gem in 2015, then my Doll Leaves Teenage Dream in 2023.

    18. When I first started in this hobby it took me 6 months between my first and second doll.

Going off my come back from hiatus (I came back into the hobby this year) it took me 3 months between dolls. It seems as if every 3 months I get a new doll at this point. All my adult "fun money" goes to my doll collection at this point.

    19. About 8 years! I got my first doll in 2016 as a teenager and between not quite clicking with him at first, guilt over such a large purchase, and mostly collecting playline fashion dolls at the time, he ended up in a closet pretty much until last year. It was actually when I was getting him out to sell that I fell back in love with BJDs and shortly after I ordered my second doll! Quite a few have followed in the year since. :)
