How many dolls do you usually take to a meet up?

Jul 10, 2009

    1. It really depends on the type of meet. House meets I have no problem bringing them all, although usually I only bring 3 (4 once my Puki gets here) since both my Shoyo and Mei are sort of stuck in a place where I'm not happy with how they look and the 2 tinies are technically my mom's and I don't always know where she's put them.

Park meets and things where there is some walking to get to the meet up place, but once we are there we are there we aren't going to be moving, I only bring the MSDs and SDs. I'm horrible when it comes to loosing things and am scared I'd accidentally leave a tiny behind.

Meets where there is going to be a lot of walking around I usually only bring my SD girl, since I find it annoying to deal with more than one doll in that situation and I have a weird hang up about splitting up my twins and again my other two MSDs aren't in a place where I feel comfortable bringing them out in public.

I do bring all of the dolls to con meets (or at least all of them I feel comfortable bringing out in public) but the tinies for the same reason I don't take the tinies to the park. I don't have a huge bunch of dolls, but who I do and don't bring to things is very likely to change if/when I get more.

    2. for reasons of comfortability, i'd only bring one doll with me, the easier one to carry around, but no tinys, as i know they tend to get lost/stolen way more often...

    3. I don't really go to meets, but when I do, I usually bring just one. Maybe two. Maybe I would bring two if I bought another case but whatevs. Which one would probably depend on the meet itself.

    4. I think weather also plays in to the 'how many" question. I can see over all how smaller bjds are easier or maybe one large one in bad weather.

    5. At a meet I would feel bad not bringing all of my dolls. I mean, yeah, I know they are dolls... But I would feel like I was playing favorites. However, as my collection grows, I seem to have to sometimes. If I even go out to meet friends and they want to do doll things I usually just bring one now. (Whichever one they want me to bring, generally). I mean, I have 3 MSDs at this point and an SD on the way... And I have yet to go to my first meet despite being in the doll collecting habit for years.

This is definitely something to think about. I don't know if I could handle bringing them all! D; Or if I would feel right leaving any behind.

    6. Depends on the place the meet is kept at. If it's at a friends place, I might take the whole crew with me (6 dolls currently), but if it's at a cafe, or at a convention on the other side of the country where I have other stuff to bring to too, I might take just one or three.
Certainly I'd love to see a person's whole collection, but my one friend has pretty much 50 dolls, so that isn't quite possible.

    7. I generally take 2 SDs and 2-3 Yo-SDs with me, usually asking beforehand if anyone wants to see any of my crew in particular. I think the most I've ever taken along is 4 SDs and 2 Yo-SDs, but whatever the case I only bring along as many as I can comfortably carry myself without needing help from anyone else. As long as that's kept in mind, the sky's the limit really :)

    8. I have an MSD. I'd take her and, if I got a tiny i'd take that too. . . I'm not sure if I would take two MSDs though... That's just me. I don't have cases for the dolls so I'd just carry them. . .

    9. I found that if I take them all in a wheeled travel case with the handle it made set up and tear down so to speak very quick and easy.

    10. I've taken four. Two minis and two yo-size. I can pack them pretty quickly, but others who didn't have dolls or only had small ones ended up carrying them around instead, so it worked out :)

    11. Lately? I have been taking 3 dolls with me.
The way I figure, my first boy is kind of my card- he's the one people recognize, even if they forget my face. I have never been to a meet without him so far (and I have been to quite a few at this point) so leaving him behind just doesn't feel right.
Then there is my MNF, who is always following my first boy around, so they've become known as the pair. Where one goes, the other follows.
I either take those two, those two plus my SD boy (who stays home more often than he goes out), or those two plus my new girl. I don't think I could take all 4 though.
I only have room in my backpack for 3 max, and juggling them is hard enough already, haha

As for how many other people bring ... Hey, if they don't mind bringing their entire collection and watching out for them then fine by me! I don't see it as showing off honestly. Some people like to mix it up and pick one or two for every meet, then others like to bring their whole crew each time. I love seeing all kinds of dolls so for me its a good chance to check 'em out.

    12. hehe mostly two, that's as many as I can fit in my doll carrier..
most of my dolls are sd, and when I bring more, it's gonna be heavy..

    13. I would love to take all my dolls (and I have about 10!) but I think they are too many, and after all they are quite heavy xD Not to mention you need to keep extra attention to them in the meet up (dogs, children, people around there, etc).

    14. I have only been to one meet so far and only got 2 dolls so i take them both with me :D

    15. There is a gal in our meet group that has I think 17 ( her mom mentioned it) so what the girl does is she brings a few to each meet instead of bringing everyone at once...

    16. ive been to only a few mini meets and i bring all my dolls. At first it was just my girls, and then i got my boy, so now i bring the whole gang. It's actually easy since they're a tiny, MSD, and SD. And they're all BBB ((well, Reid at least has a BBB body)) so they're all really light and easy to carry.
With my next meet i go to i may just end up bringing one, not sure yet ^_^

    17. For me, it depends on whether I'm out and about and doing different things before the meet. If not, sometimes I bring all 5 of the dolls (though carrying them all can get unwieldy!). Most of the time though, I pick my two "favorites" at the time (they always seem to change based on my mood), and bring those to the meetup.

I, for one, thought it was totally awesome at Christmas time when we had a meetup at my place and most everyone brought most (if not all) of their dolls. I've never thought the more dolls a person has they're ____ more than anyone, and I enjoy seeing some of the dolls that don't normally come to meets. :3

So, I guess for me, the number is based on:

      - location (if it's close or not)
      - whether I'm doing something beforehand
      - how many dolls I'm willing to carry

    18. It depends on the place and how far away from my home it is XD Usually a maximum of three, tinies included.

    19. Hell I've seen people bring in WAGONS of their dolls to meets and stuff, I think its fine I don't think its showing off at all. I only have two dolls so I only bring two hahah.

    20. I have never taken more than two, if memory serves. Since I like the big dolls, I'm tending more and more toward just one at a time.
