How many dolls do you usually take to a meet up?

Jul 10, 2009

    1. Usually one too many. If I brought all of them I'd need a U-Haul.
We do our NYC meetups in a public space, so we try to convince people to not bring more than two because then it's easier to watch them. But tinies don't count, right?

    2. Yes... tinies are like snowflakes... so small no matter how many there are it would never become overwhelming..... right?

I have a limit of two big dolls and of course any tinies I can fit into my purse. If my husband tags along we bring four big dolls, but it still keeps to the two dolls per person aspect.

    3. I get easily overwhelmed, so for me it's one bigger one and one tiny. Since I only have one complete big doll right now, there's no issue in choosing, and my tinies take turns. ^^
Though when I get the rest of my planned dolls, the big ones will have to take turns as well.

    4. As many as I can reasonably carry or is appropriate for where we're going. I've only got two right now, so it's pretty easy to carry them all. But with two more on the way and a floating head I'm looking for a body for, especially for events that require travel such as conventions, it'll depend on who's going. I usually bring dolls people are familiar with and/or enjoy seeing, or have history with other character dolls there.

    5. I've never been to a doll meetup outside conventions! I can't imagine taking more than one though for fear of something happening to one of them! And besides, they're heavy, I wouldn't want to have to carry more than one for too long.

    6. Luckily for me both my dollies are on the smaller side so I would bring them both with me. I do however plan on getting more dolls in the future and I would probably limit myself to one big doll ( if I ever get a big one) and like 2-3 smaller ones.

    7. I usually take Raoul to the doll meets, and if I feel strong enough I take sheikh with me too. Cookie goes with me no matter what, as he is so tiny and easy to carry. So, all three travel with me rather often.
I wonder what would I do if I'd have more dolls((

    8. I haven't attended a meet yet...and my first isn't getting here until tomorrow, but I think I still know that I'd usually bring only 1 SD. When I buy smaller dolls, I might bring them along if they have something to do with the SD, or if I'm particularly in love with them atm, but I don't see myself ever bringing more than 2 SD, and only 2 if I ever find a lover for the first or someone requests to see something I end up buying in a few months/years. It just seems excessive, and while I think I'd be fine holding onto one doll, any more than that and I'd get paranoid and spend too much time carefully watching in the fear of someone taking something, and not enough time actually enjoying myself.

    9. I used to try and cart all my dolls to meets (then 9). I found out that resin is a lot heavier when you have to cart around 4 MSD and 5 tinies, so I usually rotate them out and maybe take one or two to meets and conventions. :P

    10. I only have one doll right now, so I've brought her to the two meets I've attended. Once my other MSD gets here, I'll have two minis to bring with me. Since they're small, they're easier to manage. My SD girl though... I'm not sure if I'd bring her on top of my two MSD's. I guess we'll have to see!

    11. It's funny because I was thinking about this today because tommorrow I am going to a big meet. Well on the begining I always took all my dolls. But a lot of things changed now. Now I am taking only best looking dolls with full outfit etc. Unfortunatelly I am putting my camera to a doll carrier bag and travel by train so it's kinda heavy ._.

    12. I would definitely decide based on the type of transportation I take. I took the bus and had an MSD and an SD with me. It wasn't completely terrible, but it was hard because I had the SD in a bag and the MSD in my arms, and got a bit lost on the way.

If I had my own car I'd likely take more dolls, but at a convention I think I'd really only take an MSD. Maybe a different one every day, but then maybe just my prettiest babe. I'm kind of vain about my babies. I also love seeing people bring a lot of their dolls because often I don't know which ones they have but I can often recognize some from their faces. I loved meeting my friend's two pongpongs. <3

    13. Dpending on where the meet is being held, between 2-4 usually.

    14. i always just decide on one. i just don't like lugging around a bunch of heavy resin, or having to keep track of more than one at a time. ^_^

    15. My first meet was (conveniently!) when I only had one doll, so the decision was pretty easy. Now, though, I have several! I can safely narrow it down by who has the least to wear, but I think I'd probably bring two--since that's how many my carrying bag comfortably fits. Or maybe just one, with some changes of wardrobe, depending on photo conditions wherever the meet's going to be located.

    16. That's easy for me. I only have two big dolls and one centaur doll. My bag can accomodate the two big dolls, and I took them to a meet, but it was no real fun.

And I really don't know whether the centaur will ever accompany me to a meet...I don't consider him difficult to handle, but as I have to use the train, transport may be difficult. However, I have not tried that yet.

But I can imagine he could be simply interesting for the people at the doll meets to see in person...

    17. I've never been to a meet-up, but if I did I'd have to bring everyone. Most of them never get to leave the house and I'd feel like a big meanie. Although, it wouldn't be as difficult for me as a lot of people above because my biggest doll is an MSD and most are tines :P

    18. :)I have taken one with me to my frist meet up with no prombles. I may bring 2 with me to the anime north 2013 con with me it all depends if l get get a hotel room book etc.

    19. Hmmm... I couldn't be bothered to bring more than on since I like carrying them in my arms whenever one is with me. Two would be a hassle without putting them in a carrying case of some sort.

    20. Being that I mostly have SD-size dolls, I can only really manage one or two at the most. Whoever gets brought along depends on who is ready to go, mostly. I'm known to have a few projects on the go at any one time, so doll A could be in the middle of a faceup, doll B could be in the nude and needing new clothes STAT, doll E could be in the middle of heavy mods and not fit to take until the mods are done, which would leave Dolls C and D being ready to go, if that makes sense.

Sometimes, if I can, I'll bring a new doll. But, I'm just as likely to bring along any one of the others, depending on their current state of faceup/dress/mods if applicable/etc.
