It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How many dolls is too many dolls?

Feb 6, 2014

1. There is never too many :)

2. For me,...more than 50 dolls?? :)
I myself have 13 dolls and think that's already enough for me.

3. ...when i go broke?Whenever that is, when Layaway exist....muhahahahahaha

4. Too much is, when you're a mum and neglect your own children because you only spend time with your dolls instead of your children.
Too much is, when you neglect your own health because you only buy dolls instead of food x'D

Once i had 16... but i felt it was too much, some dolls didn't got enough attention... now i have only 6 (3 yosd, 3 msd) and that's pretty good for me. Everyone get enough attention. ^_^

• x 1
5. For me at the moment is almost impossible getting new dolls, because I don't have the space!
I need to get a new shelf for them and maybe decorate it a bit. I also told myself I shouldn't get new dolls before I finish dressing, makeup and generally fixing them all.

So for me my current situation is already too many, because I reached a point I need to buy new furniture to accomodate them.
But once they will be all neatly displayed, there will be space for more.

6. There's no such thing as too many dolls.

7. Too many is when they get overwhelming, but this doesn't appear to be at a specific number for me. I felt totally overwhelmed sometime last year, but I have more dolls now and I'm not even a little bit overwhelmed. So maybe it's just the number of projects and (re)shelling mistakes and not the actual number of dolls in itself.

8. I have 6 resins at the moment, and so far it's easy enough to manage... problem is my dolls are my characters and some dolls have inspired new ones, or a character fits a sculpt perfectly etc, etc... I have so many OCs and love some of them so much that I would love a doll of them one day, even if right now theres no sculpt for them to fit to... So I cant really say myself right now, I guess it's more a case of which OCs do I want most? and to be honest, some of them are groups that I couldnt dream of splitting up...

9. Yeah, I kinda thought so too. Untill I decided they ALL just really, really NEED matching outfits (like all the same outfit but a different color, or all the same style and color with slightly different details).

I guess like said before, now my opinion has changed to: when I feel overwhelmed with them, then they're to many.

10. I have 2 right now and i'm getting two more coming later this year but I will stop at either 11 or 15 but that is it

11. Too...many...dolls?

You're using English, but I don't understand the words

12. Whatever number is one too many for you. Mine seems to be somewhere around a bazillion.

Minimalism is not something I'm good at. :)

13. Whenever your wallet and/ or storage space scream for mercy. Then you know you've hit your limit.

Limits are moving targets, though... I thought I had hit mine before last year and yet somehow, that limit has magically gone the way of the dinosaur.

14. I'm hoping that ten will be my limit. I've been pretty good about this so far, but I've failed similar limits with other collections, so I know how easy it can be to keep buying.

15. I have 3 currently but I usually don't get any more until I "complete" my first doll (clothes, story, feeling like they are complete) I guess i'm a one love kind of person haha even if I have one still in the box, I don't feel like I should do anything with her until I complete the one before!

16. I'm the type of collector who doesn't buy multiple wigs/eyes/outfits/accessories for dolls; I'd rather spend my money on new dolls. :dance

With that said, I don't have a upper limit anymore. Someday when I buy that second house on the coast I'll devote a room or two to displaying 'em.

Hey, I can dream, can't I? :XD:

You inspire me, animedolls. :D

17. When I first got into this hobby, my boyfriend made me promise to stop at six. However, I realized in less than a few months that is a hard promise to keep. Just a few dolls on the list- Minifee chloe, SD luts chloe, a supia, a switch, one or two folks sculpts, soom, SID and YID iples, dreaming doll, AN UNOA (MY DREAM), SD Limhwa, some pukis and BID/KID iples; it never ends. If I realized that wish list in its entirety, that would be maybe around 20. But what would I do with them?!? Right now I just have two (one at home and one in the making), but it is so tempting to want more dolls because they are all so beautiful and unique that its very hard to not want to scoop them all up and run. Realistically, though, I have to feel like I bond with my dolls, so I probably would only ever be able to deal with about eight at a time, max, amongst all sizes, because my bond with Aya (my beautiful angel that I can dote on and admire) is a big part of this hobby's intrigue to me.

18. I'm thinking ten or maybe 7 or so is to much for me, I don't have any at the time but I think 5-6 is enough. like you, I find myself thinking it would probably cause e to love the dolls individually less if I had more.

19. My husband has said twenty is the limit. I am not allowed more then that unless I sell one of my dolls which honestly is not going to happen. I have fourteen now, three of which are floating heads, with a fifteenth coming home in the next few weeks. I have one more doll that I 'must' get but after that I plan to enjoy what I have and let the last four spots fill up as they will. I keep changing my mind about these so I am just waiting for that doll that shows up and demands I buy them.

I feel that as long as your life isn't being neglected because of doll purchases then you should get as many as you want. If you can afford it go for it! I don't mind having a limit put up for myself but that is me! I need a number that I am not allowed to go over as it keeps me on track. Besides, as the hubby has picked out everything for two dolls already I don't think it is a stretch to see him getting one of his own soon. He already has a Souldoll girl he likes a lot so we shall see!

20. Hard to say really, I'm sure that the number that signifies 'too many' is different for every ball-jointed doll owner. I currently own two and hope to have a third on the way soon. I already feel overwhelmed so I guess big collections aren't my thing. Usually I'm very happy with the sculpts I choose but the sizes keep swaying me from here to there. I loved YOSD then became interested in SD and now I keep going towards the tinies.

I just hope I'll be able to gain control soon or this is just going to go downhill, haha~~
