It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How many dolls is too many dolls?

Feb 6, 2014

    1. I will have as many dolls as I have space for. Right now, I don't have space for all the dolls I have (over 100, but not all bjd's as I collect other types too), but will be getting another room this Fall when my son moves out and I will make that into my doll room. When I get too many dolls, I'll have to sell some to make room for ones I like better.

    2. I feel the need to reevaluate my collection whenever dolls go for long periods of time sitting neglected in their boxes. It's a shame when nice things just collect dust without a purpose. Space is also something to consider. I'd love to be able to bring my collection down to the single digits.

    3. I think ten is already too many. I want to be able to care and cuddle with each doll and I want them to have equal attention. Also, it would be too costly if I have too much.

    4. I have only one doll and I plan an other one as a friend for her. I don't think that I'll have more than this two tiny, but I'm sure five would be too much for me.

    5. I told myself that I would only get 3 dolls maximum wen I started three weeks ago, I currently have 9 dolls on the way oh my

    6. I think the only time "too many" can come into a play with a hobby like this is when it begins taking up more money than you can afford to spend, and takes more time and effort than you're able to put out. I've only got my one doll on the way, but I'd love to have a few more. A small family, I think - enough to keep me and each other company but not too many that I can't care for them all! I'm thinking that number will probably be around 5 or so.

    7. When you have more doll related problems than actual dolls you may be just a bit stretched out.
Or more doll than empty space. Though a mountain of dolls does sound rather entertaining when I think about it.

Other than that- when the wallet is crying for mercy I think that's the clearest sign.

    8. first i said i would have just one...then two but now i think my limit will be 20 as there are soo many dolls i want, no more then that though because i dont have the space.

    9. Oh, boy. This is a hard one...

I have two dolls now with a DC Pierre coming eventually (I don't know what DC's production time runs from lack of experience), and I can't imagine owning more than 5-10 dolls. I'm not sure if I'll stick to that, but until I learn faceups and sewing, I can't imagine buying any more without rounding out the ones I have until I'm satisfied.

But, when you've got a list of 20 potentials with prices and shipping recorded, it makes you think =A=

    10. I'd say roughy around 10 would be my personal limit, but I don't think there's like a specific limit I'd put on anybody else. Still, it amazes me when I see collections of like 10+, ESPECIALLY when they're all mega-sized SDs!

    11. Interesting question and enjoyed reading all the comments. I find that I'm constantly changing my mind as to how many dolls are enough. I've had as few as 5 and I've had as many as 25. Currently I have around 15 dolls (waiting on 3 more). I have a couple SD and I have a few tinies in the mix; an assortment of different sculpts and body types. Most of my dolls are MSD which allows them to share lots of similar clothing, wigs, etc. My bjd's are stored in a cabinet in a bedroom. I've decided that if the cabinet becomes too full someone has to go to make room for a new addition. Jillian

    12. I think it depends on how they're taken care of.
I'd sooner keep some safe in their boxes than stockpile them on top of each other like junk. It makes them difficult to dust and there's more chance they could avalanche.

    13. im just curious as to how many dolls others have, i just bought my first doll and am planning to get my second.

    14. I only have one doll for now, but I'm planning on getting my second one this year as well !
Congrats on getting your first doll! I hope you enjoy the hobby as much as I do :D

I think the maximum amount I'll get is 6...Maybe if I even get that far LOL

    15. i am excited and know someone with BJD's so i have seen them, held them and i love them. i think my maximum will defiantly be 10 as i will run out of space haha. but i have heard that some people have 50 dolls and even over 100 :O

where would you keep that many dolls

    16. I'm still choosing my first doll. I don't think I have an exact number limit. More like when my collection feels as if it is growing too large for me to bond with another doll, then I'll stop. But honestly, for a while I might just stick with one doll and focus on getting lots of different outfits for her. I definitely won't be one of those crazy people with hundreds of dolls, but to say I would ever decide on a number and say "okay, that's it, no matter what, no more dolls!" would be a total lie. Especially if my doll family feels complete, but maybe there is a limited sculpt I decide is too perfect to pass up. So, to sum up my answer, I don't think my doll family will ever have a definite end! I would much rather go with the flow and see which niches I end up in this hobby!

    17. yeah well if i have 10 dolls and found one i just had to have i would probably break my rule, i just don't want too many dolls that they don't individually seem special to me anymore.

    18. I only have one so far, but im planning on ordering another one in august! Whoops i guess bjds are like french fries, you can't only have one! I think a maximum for me would be 15ish? It really depends on what size. There is no way i would have 15 sd's, but a few sd's mixed in with some tinies would be okay!

    19. I only have one right now. I wouldn't want to own more than 6 probably. It's pretty impressive that some people have huge collections though!

    20. I currently have four dolls. I'm not sure about my limit though. Probably somewhere around ten or fifteen? But it will probably take me a several years to get to that point.
