1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Many Dolls?

Sep 29, 2010

1. I sold two dolls before I had the right sculpt. (Iplehouse SooRi became an Elfdoll K-ss and a CP Lishe became Volks Madoka)

When I first bought a doll to represent Lord Alikaj, I went for an Iplehouse SooRi, because that mold can look both grumpy and slightly melancholy. The doll, however, wasn't love at first sight and he didn't really work for me.
Then, Elfdoll released their K-SS mold and though he had a much more stern look, I was head over heels. I sold my SooRi and changed Lord Alikaj into a modded version of K-ss.

Strangely enough, ever since I bought him, his new mold also shows the character's melancholy side and bullying vindictiveness.
This taught me to only go for molds that are true dream dolls of mine, no matter what the cost. With the right face-up and angles you can make pictures that show their real character.

2. Dolls that I bought because I fell in love with the molds have not been replaced with another one, but some of them did get a character change. Most of my dolls are dolls of which the character was created to suit the mold. Of the few character-first-then-doll dolls that I own two of them had one mold change. In both cases I exchanged the mold that suited the character, but I didn't really love with a mold that I really love and could more or less work for the character.

Now-a-days I try to stick with molds that I really fell in love with and then I'm less likely to sell and replace them.

3. Eek, no way! I reckon I debate the pros and cons of each doll so much that, even if another doll did come along, I would be far too stubborn to sell my old one and reshell the character. xD
Anyway, I know I'd hate to sell any of my dolls. D: Plus, I really do give it a lot of thought and so far all of the sculpts I've bought have worked well. I don't wanna sell any of my bebes. <3

4. I think I will never sell one my dolls. I like them as they are and I can not replace them as I do this clothes or something else I have. Each doll I buy is part of this family and for me they all have different characters.

kawaii_mon - 32 dolls XD … that is a huge number … congratulations! ^^
I guess you collected them for a longer time.

5. I have 5 dolls now, with two more 'planned'. And all of the ones I have are their original forms, none have been reincarnated, and none have ever been considered for reincarnation.
I think it is because I have never actually set up 'proper' characters for my dolls. They have back stories, certainly, but not characters. I mean, Andi, my RS Dai is the cousin of my friend's doll Ashton - I got Andi off my friend, and she decided back when she owned the doll that Andi (then Amelia) and Ashton were cousins, and it just seemed to fit to keep it that way.
But when I am planning a doll, I don't really come up with a story for them, more a personality, and a little back story. I have two faeries, a vampire child, a 'something' (one of my dolls isn't human, but I don't know what she is yet, she hasn't told me!) and just a standard human. The next two dolls that I want, they are both probably just going to be human.
Once I decide what sculpt I want, I don't actually 'need' it until the doll names itself - and then I am in deep trouble, because once it is named it stops being just a pretty sculpt and becomes a 'person' as such. Like, I know I want a boy doll one day, but as I have only decided on sculpt (A Luts SSD Cloud). So fingers crossed I don't name him soon!
