How many people think of their Minis as adults instead of children?

May 30, 2013

    1. For me, my mini's are teens-to-late teens. So about 16-19 or maybe 20-23. But I think it depends on the mold, body and company and everything like that. And also the character it's going to be!

    2. To me MSD is in their late teens or early adulthood, but it also depends a little on the doll, if it's a more mature sculpt, maybe about 23-ish, but if it's a more childish sculpt, maybe 16-ish c:

    3. My minis are only adults in their mid-twenties to early thirties. I get msds because I like their physical size and try to avoid childish sculpts. All of mine are slim minis.

    4. i got one sd to start with but when i started collecting msd sized dolls i was drawn to souldoll, mnfs and iplhouse all of whom make mature bodies for their mini sized dolls so they became the adults by default in my doll world. the bodies were just too mature for me to imagine them as anything less than late teens at the very youngest. the age of the others then draws from how big they are in relation to my minis, and my sd gets left alone off to the side in her box. i'll probably sell her some day just 'cause she doesn't fit in and so gets neglected but she is a gorgeous doll.

i just recently found a couple of mature tinies that i had to have as well, it's going to be interesting to see how they fit in. probably like fantasy creatures, just like the fantasy tinies i already have i guess.

    5. I tend to think of MSDs as young adults, though maybe that's just because of my preference for sculpts. I don't own any other dolls, so I can't define the age of my one MSD in that way... if I got another doll, I would definitely want an MSD with a mature body. I like MSDs because they are a convenient size for me, not because of how they are child-sized in relation to SDs, so maybe that's why? The character I wanted to shell was a young adult, so I tried to find a sculpt that was suitable for his age range.

    6. Depends on their build an face sculpt/face-up style

My mini's are children (so are my SD size gang for the most part - the mini's are younger) my Slim-mini's are adults or older teens and not really in the same size grouping as the mini and SD families My only adult SD size is shorter than some of the children ones, but she has a more mature figure, so she's just a short adult and some of her younger relatives just happen to be taller than she is.

    7. My Iple JID is 21 yrs old. :) She's definitely an adult.

    8. My MSDs are teenagers, the youngest being 15 and the oldest being 18. One of my YoSDs is 6 and the other is 10 and yet they share the same body for now. Different faces definitely have the potential to look a bit older if you want them to. My SD is a young adult (21) and I know a lot of people make their SDs older than that, but that's just how she looks to me.

    9. My MSD is around 17, and I partly chose the sculpt because, to me, he looks that age. But I think it comes down to sculpt. My next MSD will be a 15 year old girl, and I've rejected a lot of lovely sculpts for looking either too young or too mature.

    10. ^ This.
Trying to find mature msd sculpts has been a tad tricky, in my opinion anyways.

    11. I don't have any MSDs yet but all the ones I have planned are going to be adults in appearance, between early twenties and mid thirties. Of course because of that I'm only interested in dolls that look more adult. I agree that some companies, like Volks for instance, make MSDs that are supposed to be teens or younger and that's fine. I think people should be able to make their dolls be whatever they want, and whatever they can dream or imagine, regardless of what anyone else thinks or what is "supposed" to be. But for me, when ever I see an SD next to an MSD I just feel like they don't look like they go together, they really don't look like an adult and a child. I don't know how to explain it but they just look off to me. Like they are two different species. I just feel like if the companies intended for MSDs to be the children of their SDs then they didn't do a very good job getting the proportions right. That's just my opinion.

    12. Well, I only have one MSD for the moment, and she is a teenager, even if she could probably be older than what I've planned for her. The other ones I plan to have are to be teenagers or young adult, but definitely not children, as I prefer more mature MSD (well, usually, but I also want to get a unoa sist on a boy body, and that's not quite a mature sculpt xD)
But since MSD are for me quite mature, at least way more than most of YoSD, I'd consider it actually quite weird to make child of them (at least child under about ten years old), even if it stays possible of course.

    13. My Pukifees are all nature spirits and my two PukiPukis are pixies, so they're all adult/ageless characters. It can make finding clothes a challenge, since so many outfits for tinies are styled for todders. I also can't think of my MSD as being a child, even though she's on a young child's body (she's a DollsTown 7yo.)

    14. I second mirrin on this one.
Most of my dolls are MSD's and I really don't see them as children. The youngest would be 19 age wise.
This might also be because a couple of them are dollyfied OC's.

    15. I think of my MSD as a teenager. Maybe between the ages of 16-19. At the oldest young 20s.

    16. My tiny is a cat-girl. Age doesn't really matter. She does begave a little childlike, but then again, so do I.

    17. My two MSD's are both adults but one became immortal and stopped aging in her teens and my other doll is a shapeshifter and she doesn't age like humans do she probably about 100 years old which is about 20ish in human years. I am rather short so I think of my MSD's as just being shorter adults.

    18. Most of my dolls are fantasy type sculpts so age isn't really a thing I think about with them. They have names (other than the sculpt name) and a certain look I like for each of them, but no character or associated age.

    19. The characters represented by MSDs in my doll collection are young adults, in the 18-21 age range.

    20. I have 8 slim mini females. Age wise, they are neither children nor adults. In fact the longer I am in the hobby I prefer the smaller busts on my girls. I look back on some of my photos of my Unoas, big breasts, young face-- very odd now that I look back. So perhaps they are younger.......
