    1. I mainly fall in love with faces. I like long sleeves, so as long as the body can pose and doesn't have ugly hands, I'm probably okay with it.

    2. Hmm. Mainly you see the face first (on most of the websites) because they only show you the full body (naked) after you click on the doll... So I'd have to say, there are probably dolls out there that I would never get to see and appreciate their posability, etc. because I never got to see the screen of the body (usually if you see the body on the main pages, there are clothes). You'd have to know someone with a special doll or see it here to realize that you want it.

    3. I need to be attracted to the sculpting on both the face and the body. I actually fell in love with my girl's body before her head sculpt. I had planned on a different doll, and later realized that the body sculpt just didn't work for me. I started looking at other bodies, and the DZ 58cm body was my absolute favorite. Looking at Celine in the body pictures was what caused me to really notice her face, which I'd never paid much attention to because I hadn't been looking for an elf. She turned out to be my dream doll, and I got her. (and it was a plus that she took the idea for her character to a place that I like better too.)

There are some dolls I just couldn't buy as a whole doll because I find their heads too small for a really long neck, or they have bodies that look too skinny for my tastes, or really odd breasts. So if I fell hard for one of those faces, I'd have to find a body that suited my aesthetic better. I'd actually be willing to sacrifice some posability for a body sculpt I really like.

    4. i don't care about body sculpts at all ^^

ost of my dolls wears lolita dresses so it covers most of the body

so the sculpt isn't important to me

    5. I'm not that fussy about body sculpt, or at least, I wasn't until now. Anne and Erin I already have, and I love that Anne doesn't have her ribs sticking out. I hate that. But now I'm looking for a mature Yo-SD and I'm finding that I have to find a body before I can pick the head. I don't like doing hybrids, but finding a mature yo-sd body is not that easy. When I've settled on the one I like, then I'll pick one of their heads. But it's hard to find yo-sd girls with boobies! T_T

    6. So far it seems that the body is more important to me, though I'm new to BJDs. First I looked through hundreds of different BJD faces looking for the perfect sculpt... found it, fell in love, realized that I didn't want that size and the body wasn't my favorite, so I let it go. After looking at a lot of faces, I decided to start looking at a bunch of bodies, by size category. Found Blue Fairy and Minoru World, fell in love again, and am now becoming extremely attached =3 .

Yeah, usually the body is so covered by clothes that you can't even tell much of a difference between one body and another of the same size and similar form. But I want to have a doll that I can put a lot of body tattoos and things on, and those can only be fully appreciated when naked or almost naked.

Also, I think that it's really something special when I find a body sculpt so lovely that I love just looking at it, for what it is, and I feel could own it without anything extra like clothes or shoes and still appreciate its beauty. Still want to hold it and hug it and stare at it and marvel. Lots of doll bodies I actually think isn't very attractive, or even ugly to my eyes. I guess I'm picky. So, a perfect body is really something special.

With heads, there are plenty of pretty face sculpts, plenty of choices to choose from. If it's in a style I like, I can come to enjoy lots of different faces, even if they're not the 'perfect one' or 'ideal'. There are just far too many that are beautiful in their own way, that I know I could love if I wanted to. I don't feel the need to be so choosy, ya' know?

Since I plan to stick to one company to keep my future doll family 'consistent', it's like it's more important to find the one perfect body. After that, I can have my choice of which faces from that company look nice, and since I plan to have more than one, I can be less scrutinous about my choice.

    7. i find both are as important as the other and make my descisions on getting a doll taking both into account!

    8. I feel that the overall sculpting quality is important - IMHO ones with what I feel are well sculpted heads usually also have well sculpted bodies if the artist cares enough about the overall appearance.

    9. I'm little surprised about the poll results.. I wouldn't have imagined that the head is more important for so many people. I really keep my eye on the body when choosing a doll (and it's really a shame how some companies have such poor pics of their body sculpts). I like that the dolls look beautiful also without clothes (I sound like some kind of a perv haha).

    10. I haven't bought my girl yet, but I already know that she'll need a different body. Just playing around with my friend's dolls, I know that poseability is a huge issue for me and Souldoll's bodies just don't aesthetically pose the way I want them to. I've seen user pics of the MNF body and fell in love with it.

So yeah, I think that face and body are equally important to create the doll that is the "right one".

    11. The face is very important to me but the body is also. The body needs to be proportional and well suited to the face or character of the doll.

    12. I care about the face more, definitely. Besides, the body will most likely be covered with clothes anyway ^^

      That said, I don't think I would be able to buy a doll if I strongly disliked the body. ; ;

    13. I don't care much about the body sculpt! I'd much rather focus on the face. Lol. Since that's what really attracts me to a doll.. As I can't do face-ups yet. So, I get dolls that really grab my attention when it comes to their face up. Sure, it wouldn't hurt if their body sculpt was amazing.. But it isn't gonna bother me if it isn't as great as it could be.. After all, if I were to have a problem with it later.. I could always buy the doll another one! o uo)b

    14. You know, when I posted here first, I had chosen the option 'I care about the body more'. ...Now that I've gotten more settled into the hobby, and stepped into my own personal rhythm of doll-choosing, I realized something about me. I should have chosen the option 'I care about the body much more' XD . It's not just a bit, or somewhat, it's like the main deciding factor XD . It's the first thing, and sometimes the only thing, I both to look at when cruising around at other doll sites, and I don't even care about anything else from the company if the body isn't right. If I dislike the face, I dislike it, so faces are always important, but... next to the body, they're kind of really second priority, ya know?

I'm surprised it's so unimportant to so many people! Admiring body sculpts is like my favorite thing to do XD .

    15. Argh, both! D:

Beautiful faces mean nothing on ugly bodies! Is true!

I like male bodies that have some sculpt to them. They don't need to be hugely beefy or overly muscular, but I do like to see some definition, which is where CP Delf bodies fail me hard. They're lithe, yes, but even lithe menz can have some definition, really... :/

I like girl bodies to have a nice hourglass-inspired aesthetic, though the hips being slightly on the wider side brings me joy.

I hugely dislike the "underwear" joint on ANY doll body, whether 1/6 or 1/3 scale -w-;; I much prefer the bust-joint. For one, I find it more natural-looking when the doll is nude, as well as when the doll is clothed/posing.

That being said, you could put an ugly head on a beautiful body, and it's still "Butterface!! D:", and vice versa a beautiful head on an ugly body. Then it's "Buttereverythingelse..." DD:

So, it needs to be the right combination of the two~ -3-

    16. AS an animator, I care more about the body,
good body could make good poses~~~~~:)
Rigging is the most important thing~~~~~
      like stop motion puppet~~~~

    17. I think, as far as I'm concerned, there's two types of bodies: the ones that don't like right to me, and the ones that look just fine. Honestly, the majority of the body is going to be clothed, in most cases, so I don't need to be too picky as long as the shape is mostly accurate. But there's a lot more variety in the faces, so I generally look at faces first. The body isn't as likely to persuade me as it is to dissuade me, if that makes sense.

    18. Hmm.
It wouldn't be the first thing I look at, but it wouldn't be the last thing I look at either.
I will probably never buy a MNF girl because I simply hated the look of the A-line girl body. I know I wouldn't be seeing it all the time, but I just can't bring myself to pay the money to buy a body I don't like. I guess it comes down to that.

    19. I pick by the faces usually, so that's most important. but if the body is bad (Poses badly, has no detail, or is jointed/proportioned wonky), or it's just way out of range of what I have in mind for a character, I may bend a little on the head to get the body in my okay range. (Money is the only real issue I have with hybrids, but it is a big one ^.^;) I know sometimes I'll be looking at a doll, and LOVE the head, but it'll have a body I don't like, and I'll just move on and forget about it. On the other hand, no amount of wonderful body can make me pick a headsculpt I don't like. Maybe it's just because that's the way the site browsing is set up?
Right now I've spent so much time picking the bodies for my minimees, I'm surprised I'm not more obsessive about it when I pick other head sculpts!

    20. Important, but not as much as the face. A ugly looking body is just...not good. XD But then again it's mostly going to be clothed...
      The body has to match the face, to me. It's weird when the body is overly muscular and then the face looks young. o.o;
