Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. 1. Idealy, the body and head would be equally upto my ideas of what I like for a doll. But, if I had to pick, I would much rather a head mold that I liked. There are bodies that I dont love, that are ok-looking. But, some still pose well and look nice in clothes. Which the doll would be wearing more than it would not. :sweat

I really love realistic dolls, so the body does matter quite a bit in the final picture and completed look. That's why I loved these things.

    2. I originally said I care about both equally, but now that I think about it, I care about the body much more! In fact I recently got a sd10 body and I'm trying to find a good head for it, that's what people usually do but the other way around. I don't care all that much what the head looks like as long as it's young looking, a good fit, and good proportion wise. I can blush it to match the bod. ^_^

Also a subset of that, I don't care about posing that much, it's mostly aesthetics for me. I want a beautiful body, joints, and hands especially.

    3. in related to face then i don't really care much of the body
but i do care about the body color :)

    4. I care about the body just as much as the face. If I like a face mold but don't like the body it comes with then I would definately look for a new body. I wish more heads were sold seperately from bodies. I am really picky when it comes to bodies so I would rather have to do a bit of modding to get a head I liked to fit on a body I liked, then to just buy the body the head was supposed to go with.

    5. Lots of things influence me. For heads, the sculpt needs to work all the way around. Some of the less expensive companies' heads only look appealing at certain angles, like the front and profile views are good, but the 3/4 looks like the head got shoved into a corner. It's just off kilter and crude to my eye. Not digging the knife blade noses or super pointy chins either. Let's strive for some subtlety please.

For bodies alone, it's about the esthetics and posibility. I like some muscle definition, not too veiny but some is nice, not too slender or elongated. Some dolls are just ridiculous. I prefer two torso joints for flexibility, and placement is important.

Now, put the two halves together and we get a whole other kindle of kittens. Is the head in proportion to the neck? Does the jaw line blend with the width of the neck? Pencil necked bobbleheads are not my thing. So many guy dolls in particular suffer from the long, skinny neck problem, and it's really weird when the rest of the body is chiseled but the dude has no trapezius muscles.

Anyway, I guess what I'm driving at is this: So far, based on the expanding number of dolls on the market, I haven't felt the need to split a doll or even modify one. If I can't find precisely what I want, I just have to wait a little while longer.

    6. I chose the option of both, because a doll needs both a body and a face. Generally speaking, I find the body sculpt more important because that makes up the bulk of the doll. I don't like the idea of wiring or sueding my dolls, so the construction of the body has to be sound. It also has to be aesthetically pleasing, because even if no one else is can see it under clothes, I will be seeing it.

However, the head is also important in that there is no real point owning just a body (although I did recently order a body before thinking about the head). I end up looking up hybrids to see if certain heads match certain bodies. At the moment, both my boys have heads and bodies from their same respective companies, but I'm definitely not getting the Minimee body for my Minimee head, and the other incoming doll... is definitely a hybrid.

      So I would say, the body is more important for me owning the doll, but the head is usually a more important factor in me buying it? If that can be at all understood. ^_^;;

    7. Well... it's ALL important. I don't tend to frankenstein, so I do like what I buy to all work well... But I DO accord a bit more importance to the face than the body. I think it goes in this order:

      0. All is important, but in details:
      1. Face--Head Sculpt
      2. Faceup (with some dolls, I MUST have the faceup or I won't buy them; others, it doesn't matter).
      3. Body sculpt
      4. Extras-- fantasy parts, optional parts.
      5. Pose-ability
      6. Resin Quality, overall quality... casting, strength, weight, etc.

    8. personally I care about the face much more... typically if you photograph a doll, you photograph the face, however, I always want to make sure the doll is double jointed, or ATLEAST, poses well. and I don't want my doll on something that more closely resembles a scary insect... unless it's in the character to do so.

    9. I look at both as equally as possible to prevent buying anything that I don't absolutely love 100%. For example, I think the SD16 body is spectacular, but if Ami hadn't come out then I definitely would've still been waiting for a face more to my tastes. Same with DoD dolls, I'd love to have both DoT and DoC but none of the DoC faces fall in my likes range so I'm happier going with MNF and BF.

Plus I'm seriously considering a BF/MNF hybrid because I prefer the latter's body type far more. So yeah, it must be balanced for me.

    10. The face matters to me more than the body, mainly because there is a predetermined "look" I am going for when searching for a sculpt.

I think the body is important too, but I'm not quite as picky. The only requirement I have is that the body reflects the age of the character I'm going for. Other than that, it's all about the face. :XD:

    11. I don't really care much what the body looks like, because my dolls would always be fully dressed from head to toe, and if the face isn't perfect for me, I wouldn't even consider getting the doll at all.

That said, I always check the dolls body before buying, and if I really do hate it, I would always change it.

    12. For BJDs, I think body and face are equally important. It is human nature to focus on the face to some extent, but as someone else pointed out, the poseability of BJDs is an important characteristic a is the overall realism.

    13. I'm a face person. I care way more about the face and the head than the body. Sure, there are bodies I strongly prefer over others (I'm not really into heavily muscled male bodies, for example), but if a head I loved came with a body I hated I would either buy the head alone or put up with the body until I could sell it or trade it for a better body. My dolls rarely run around nude, but their faces are always visible, so it's more important that I like the face shape and the faceup and things like that.

    14. I'm a person that really thinks the body is important. Right now I have this mind set that if the face looks super mature so should the body. And after all there are So many faces on bjds that look beautiful. I'll never lack in a beautiful face but the body is a different story. There are more things to consider especially when it comes to pose ability or how clothes would look or fit.

Like having a male with broad shoulders or a female with a large bust. If they're double jointed or not. In the end a head is more easily changeable and I think with a good face up and the right care anyone can like almost any face.

    15. It depends with me, I usually fall for the face first, and then I look at the body. And then the body determines the rest. If I'm really in love with the face, but hate the body, then I will research possible resin matches so that I can get a more suitable body.

    16. I think I'm almost more of a body person when I think about it. Originally I wanted a Senior Delf for my first doll just because I loved their bodies so much <_< And I really tried to like one of the head molds (and I do like some) but nothing really gave me this "I want!" - feeling. Except for the body itself and so this is going to be the only thing I'll order from Luts soon 'xD

In the end it's the whole doll I need to like anyways and if I don't like head or body I'll find replacements.

    17. I think for me the body is just as important as a head. There are a couple characters my friend and I have trouble finding a doll for just because we can't find things with the perfect build, even if we find a gorgeous face for them. In fact we're currently looking for a replacement for my friend's Cherishdoll body, simply because it turns out it doesn't work for the character he represents...

    18. I care about both. Yes, the face is what attracts me most but as I found out, the body is really important. One of the reasons I'm selling my Elfdoll Wu is because of his body. No double joints and terrible, terrible hands IMO. I love the NS color but it's hard to match so he's going. I knew he would probably be sold the second I got my Hound...what a difference in posing and sculpt. Now because of Dollshe hands I'm picky about hands too. Ugly hands ruin a doll for me.

    19. Both, but not quite equally. I'm always attracted to certain faces, but if I don't also like the body, I quickly lose interest in the doll.

    20. I think i care for the face more, but not by much. if i really didnt care for the body i would attempt to make a hybrid. however if here was no possible hybrid solution i would probably still buy it anyway and wait till a better body comes along.
