1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. The face, definitely. I think faces are what first pulled me into this hobby; I couldn't resist those wonderful faces! But I want the body to match the face, too. I've seen a lot of 'little girl' faces on mature bodies. If I'm going to do a child doll then I want it to be a child from head to toe!

    2. for me, it's the face and the hands that take my attention. Ofcourse everything needs to be in proportion but I won't mind thatmuch if the feet are less detailed or the stomach is not well toned because they wear clothes anyways :)

    3. Unless a doll is going to be shirtless, I don't pay as much attention to the body as I do to the head.

    4. The body can be a deal breaker for me (or at least a 'I'll put it on my wishlist but I'm going to wait until later when I have more time to spend looking for a different body'). If I don't like a body, I'm not going to spend money on it. Simple as that. But on the flip side, I don't think I'd ever buy a body (Except the new EID Model Body, holy crap <3) without a head in mind for it.

    5. For me, the face has always come first. I never really paid much attention to the body unless it was to make sure the skin tones matched. I think it's mostly because you always see the face, but rarely the body (in my dolls' cases at least (so far), haha)

    6. I care much more about the face than the body :)

    7. I've been realizing, after my initial post in this thread, that it's really difficult to see a good image of a doll's nude body, mostly you see only the face or the whole body clothed. I stumbled across a nude photoshoot of Ylisande and was absolutely flabbergasted at the detail and realism of this wonderful body. I don't think I've seen such realistic breasts on any doll yet. This body is so gorgeous I would hate to cover it with clothing! I like the fact that when the knee is bent it still looks like a knee! Ditto elbows. So I guess my revised answer would be, that if I could see the body sculpt more often my choice just might go for the body!

    8. Both of them are important when it comes to a doll. But i think the face is more important.. Just my opinion:)
Body sculpts look good most of the times. I find more difficult to get a nice face, than a nice body.

    9. For me, it's a total package. I can't have one without the other. When looking for a new doll, I look for a body that's not too skinny, and must be similar to the human form. It's the balance between face and body that works for me. :)

    10. Do joints count when talking about a body sculpt? If so, then I have a certain problem with the way certain joints look. I do not like the FelixDoll body sculpt due to the way the knees are. Knee joints like that bother me!

I also prefer that the body matches the head and/or character in some way.

So, yeah! I do care about the body as much as the head.

    11. To me, the body's almost everything. I can live with a doll whose face i don't like, as long as the body is good. But even if i had a doll with a wonderful face, i couldn't bear it if the body was not my liking. Most dolls i've choosen lately are because of their body. So yes, i care about the body much more.

    12. They are both equally important. Head sculpt is a given, of course, but I've a feeling I'll become increasingly picky about bodies. Even though all of my dolls are completely clothed, I still know what's underneath ;) so it matters! Posing ability is also important, my dolls are all very active so they would have to be able to achieve as many poses as possible. I won't be surprised if one day I'll get to a point of buying a great posing BJD body, and then have to find a good head sculpt for it. *heh*

    13. Both of them matter to me, though I do have preferences for body types. Like torsos, I love jointed torsos and have a dislike for the ones that aren't jointed, It gives me a feeling of inflexibility for posing purposes. however I know that I can always get another body if I don't like a certain type. But I do care about the body as i would care about the face, the body is the base for the head so in my opinion it should be appealing to me.

    14. It would be both, my characters have very specific body types, and if the doll body doesn't line up with what their body shape really is, I get totally unhappy, the most perfect face isn't going to change that. It's one of the reasons why sold the bodies of two of my dolls. -_-

    15. Body sculpt is definitely the deciding factor for me. I am much more willing to spend an extra $60-100 to buy a floating head I like for the body, than I am to spend $300 for an extra body because I can't get a face mold I like by itself.

    16. I usual focus on the face first. If I've fallen in love with a head sculpt, I'll probably buy it regardless of the body. Unless it had weird hands. o.O I dunno why but hands are also important.
If I really hated a body I would probably just buy the head and buy a body from elsewhere.

    17. For me, the body and the face both have to click or its no deal, I just prefer them to both work or I won't really get excited about the doll.

    18. I'm definitely body orientated. If the body doesn't look good, I don't care how nice the face is, I'm not getting it. =\ The body not only has to be sculpted well, but also poseable. At least 3 piece torso, rotating thigh joints, double jointed everywhere possible, balanced and stable. Otherwise it's a no go.

I ended up getting a MNF because of how lovely the bodies are; I don't even really like any of the MNF head sculpts. >_> Too baby like...

    19. I look at the face first, then the body but that doesn't mean the body is any less important. To me, the body need to match the head size and the proportion needs to be right. I also look at the body's posing ability, sculpting detail, etc. But if you're asking in relation to the head, I'd say I care more about the face sculpt, if I had to choose to buy a body or a face first, I'd go for the head. coz I can always find another body for the head but nowhere can I find another similar sculpt elsewhere.

    20. The body is of course important. But I care about the face more. I think the body is easier to be replaced compared to the face/head which is the one that bonds me to the doll.
