It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. Well, they (body and face) are equally important to me. I know I will not love the doll if the face is off, and the same goes for the body - proportions, pose-ability, detail etc. If I didn't think the body and the face both to my satisfaction, I would probably never buy that doll. ^^"

    2. Both are equal for me, but if it comes to a point that theres a super gorgeous face and i hate the body, ill make a hybrid with thr body that i like and that fits. ^_^ compromise

    3. While I do care about the face a bit more, I still find it very important that the body is also very well sculpted. I've fallen in love with body sculpts before, only to find that I don't like any of the faces available from that company. That usually leads to hours of searching to see what hybrids might be possible...

    4. Even though for my dolls the body is always clothed - for me the body and face are equally important. I have passed on dolls because the body is off or vice verse. Or maybe more accurately, those dolls are still at the bottom of my nice to have list. I know I can hybrid dolls but I've come to terms with the fact that I'm resistant to hybridizing my dolls unless the sculptor doesn't make bodies.

    5. I'd say for me both are equally important, but even if I LOVE LOVE the face, the body is probably the deciding factor. If I don't like how the body looks or if the posability is lacking, I will most likely not buy the doll even if the face is beautiful enough to make me cry ;p. Maybe if I were able to hybridize the doll in question I'd buy it and try and sell the body, though I'd prefer to buy just the head then.

    6. The head/face is definitely always the main thing I look at, but yeah, if the body doesn't function or pose the way I'd like it to, its a no-go.

Though, as ashamed as I am to say, after all this time of being a dollie Mum, I'm still not one for understanding/going about hybrids well...I envy those who can get the exact height and figure they want by doing this -- it adds a lot to the character, I think. :)

    7. It depends, if doll is going to be always clothes then it doesn't matter. One of my dolls only wears midriff type clothes so she has a nicer sculpt body

    8. I want both: a nice face and a nice body that poses well. ^^;
Well, of course you tend to notice the face first. Even if the body is nice and highly posable, I won't get the head for it, if I don't like it. I'd rather go for a hybrid then or a totally different doll. ^^

    9. It's definitely become both for me. Originally, I didn't care too much about the body, when I was getting started. I figured "it'll be covered" or "they're all about the same," but I've since learned that there's a large number of variations in them, and there's nothing wrong with being a little picky!

My very first boy recently had his body replaced; he's a shell of an existing character who's shorter than average, but his doll-form was the same height as everyone else in his group. I came across a body that was significantly shorter than the others, and swapped him onto that, making me much happier with him! Another doll was a floating head for whom I ordered a body thinking it would be fine, and absolutely hated the pairing, resulting in the head and body being separated and the head being shoved back in its box (the body into another spare box). A great deal of research later, I ordered up a new body... perfect! But now the head's not right. :sweat A new head is on the way, which should finally put the combination of head + body into the correct combination for the character. And for another character, because of the thick/bottom-heavy animation style used for the source for her, I chose based largely on a body that had a similar bottom-heavy silhouette, and then selected the face that best matched for her. (Still others are waiting on the perfect bodies to come along, and I'll be extensively researching the options on bodies for another incoming head.)

All that said, most of my dolls have been the perfect combination of head + body when they arrive, but for those who aren't, I'll adjust either or both parts until the look is perfect for the character I want.

    10. I care about the face a bit more than the body. I wouldn't buy a doll with a great face if I'm put off by the body, and wouldn't buy a doll with a great body if I didn't love the face. DC and DZ are only on my wishlist because Doll Chateu's expressive heads match Dollzone's more reasonable looking body. And the resin match should be near perfect because they're sister companies. Proportion is really important to me, so dolls that look bobble headed are really unappealing to me. I like how some companies like Fairyland and Lume offer body variations that can better tailor a doll to a character.

    11. I only care about the body of a doll. Faces are easily modded

    12. I care about both. Even if the face is modded easily, sometimes I'm too lazy to do the work. xD Though the body matters to me, because of my doll's character. If they're meant to be muscular then I'd look for a muscular body for that character. It also really bothers me if the doll bodies aren't close proportionally. Though I almost want to say that my pickiness for both aspects is basically my way of self control when it comes to buying dolls.

    13. Face matters more to me, I can always match the head with another body. If I didn't like the face I wouldn't even buy the doll.. A body that looks too matured/adult (eg. too muscular, too large hands, big boobs :sweat) doesn't really interest me.

    14. I care about the face much more. If there's a perfect face but a terrible body, I'd still adopt her. :)

But when it comes to body, I prefer a cute looking body to functionality; like when I see the PukiFee bodies versus Lati Yellow, I'd rather have a super adorable Lati Yellow body over the strangeness of the PukiFee, even if the PKF has the better body in terms of posing. I know it's weird because 99.9% of the time the dolls will be clothed, but I just like knowing that the doll is adorable overall.

    15. They both matter, but the face is most important, as the body can be hidden if it's absolutely horrible. But I do always check what kind of sculpts the company's bodies have.

    16. I care about both but not at the same level... the face is the "mirror of the soul" (yeah I borrowed this from the eyes, but I think it is true) and when clothed, the main part to look at. But if I don't like the body like it happens with the long necks of some dolls in DC or the extremely large bust of other companies... I don't think I will buy them either, and I'll try to find a way around (like buy the head and try put it on a different body, etc).

    17. Technically I care about the face more, as that is what attracts me to a doll in the first place. However I still do care about the body quite a bit and there are deal breakers, but generally a pretty face can make me forgive some of the dislikes I may have for a body, but not vice versa.

    18. For me, my males dolls the body generally doesn't matter. I have one who just had to have a softer curved body but other than that, just whatever I could pop their heads on would do.
Now that i've started collecting girl dolls though too, I think body shape almost trumps the face. Most my girls I've bought like 80% on body shape over the heads.

    19. It has to be both for me. If something is out of porportion the whole doll just bothers me. I love Soul Doll's Farense, but his hand are disporportionately large for the rest of the body. He has to sit with his hands away from his face becuase his hands are almost as large as his head. I have a similar issue with Ringdoll's Tianzhen. I love him, but his head is just a litle too smail for his body. The right wig helps hide that, but I have to be careful what hair I give him.

    20. i never used to care much about the body, but thats cause when i started collecting you didnt get much choice or difference in pose-ability. After a break in the hobby i came back and found everyone had great posing dolls! i bought a notoriously bad posing doll recently and i could not get on with her, which is quite odd for me. I'm giving her one very last expensive chance to prove my love for her by buying her a new body, but i just know she's lovely and i'd miss her face if i did sell her
