    1. Both equally, the body has to match the doll or the character just like the face ^__^ With Vasy and Sumi, I was lucky because their 'default' bodies fitted them perfectly..but all other dolls I'm planning are going to have different bodies, because the ones they come with/that are recommended for them just don't really fit..besides, I like 'body hunting' just as much as I like searching for the perfect head ^____^

    2. Bodies are very important to me, so I go by the body and pick which head I feel suits it.
Of course I tend to like heads that go with the bodies I like, so I haven't run into any real dilemmas.

      Sera~

    3. Both are very important to me. I had a Soom Namu and his face was beautiful, but I disliked his body so much that I ended up selling him.

    4. I am only attracted to the doll based on the face. After that I must like the body. I would never buy a doll only for the body if I didn't like the face, you know, and I am not much of one to switch bodies and heads, though I guess I'm not opposed to it if the match is right.

That said, now that I am familiar with a number of different dolls, I definitely have my preference as to bodies and that also influences my choice as I browse. In addition, I like variety, so I wouldn't want them all to be the same.

For ease of posing without sueding or gluing or wiring, the mini size dolls I prefer are Dollstown Seola, Limhwa, and Narin,in that order. For tinies, CH Petite Ai and Lati Green. For SD size and larger--60cm Narae, Volks Yukinojo, and Soom Gena get the prize.

    5. One thing I've noticed... a lot of people that go for headmold do it because of set characters that they have for their dolls... does this mean the body people are more like me and don't have set roles for their dolls?

    6. I'd say I care more about the face but obviously the body is very important.

    7. Oh, I am really picky about body sculpt.
I was even reluctant to get a CP boy, simply because the arm and leg joints bother me.
      And I really don't like non-jointed torsos.

Though I suppose in the end I do care about face more, just because that's what you see the most, and if I like a doll's face enough then I guess body shouldn't matter as much.

    8. I voted equally. That is why I love unoa she has the face and the body and they both match each other in Character! the body has a unique feeling that matches the unique face mold and they are both expressing the same mood face and body together!

Many times I see heads on bodies done my companies that don't feel right. I wish that there was more total body head creations that varied with the new character of the head mold. Of course this doesn't happen because it would be too time intensive.

      But I love the idea.

    9. I voted "equally" too.
I've been in this hobby for a couple of years now and have owned dolls by most of the different companies out there.

Hybrids kind of bother me... I always feel something's not 100% "right" about a hybrid doll. My Tjalfe (RML R20J elf boy) is my only hybrid at present, and that's only because RML never made bodies..!

In general I'm forgiving of "flaws" or extreme stylization in the body sculpt, but the doll has to have an overall appeal to me as a gestalt being. I adore the Rasendo boy body sculpt for example, though it would be considered *far* from "esthetically pleasing" in the classical sense.

Personally I like Volks bodies best... they are neither too ridiculously "buff" nor too painfully thin. The girls' bodies are not gagsome to me even if they have a larger bust.

I do not care for "mature" sculpts, personally, and I loathe CP's new girlbodies with their 'silicone' boobs and low-to-the-point-of-unfunctionality "waist" joint.
This is why I don't have a girl Minifee, though I'd love to in theory.
Luckily I don't have a problem with CP boy bodies! I <3 my Chiwoos!!!!

    10. My love of ball-joint dolls is about my love for articulation. Most of my crew is either completely unclothed or in partial states of undress. I'm attracted to the sculpts in their nude and obvious articulation. So, with that being my interest, the DollShe boys with their long, lanky sculpts and the Volks SD16 with his amazing points of articulation are my favourites. Their beautiful face molds and lovely face-ups complete the beauty of the doll, but for me, it's the piece in its entirety. I've got three CP boys and interestingly enough - all three are dressed to the nines in expensive costuming....

    11. I care about the face above all else; I'm not so picky about bodies at all, really. I guess since I have all male dolls, I'm not looking for a gorgeous body, just a strong body sometimes, depending on the character (Laurent's is so hot). Now, if it were a female doll I would be VERY choosy about the body. I still have not seen a female body I love at all. Of course, this is mainly due to the fact my boys are usually heavily clothed with jackets and shirts and boots, whereas my girl doll will dress like a slut, so she has to have a nice body that displays well :p

    12. the face is the most important to me...

but posing also can make a huge difference in how fun it is to play with a doll.

also, if the doll's body is too primitively sculpted, over time I start to not like it as much, so I guess it's a combination of all factors, with the face being foremost for me. (and posing being second, and body sculpt being third I suppose)

    13. I voted for face being the most important for me,then I read the answers and changed my mind about a few things....I really like faces to go with the company's body( weird possibly),and I DO like resin to match( prolly a Virgo thing:roll: )
I totally agree with ravendolls: quote 'Hybrids kind of bother me... I always feel something's not 100% "right" about a hybrid doll.'
they bother me a bit too, and I feel the same.
Personally I'm not too keen on Volks bodies( the fingers seem like little sausages),I also like a body joint...Ummnn but on the whole bodies can be covered with clothes, so I have to love the face....

    14. I care about the head a lot more. I've often picked up bodies just because they were cheap. I like to have nice bodies, but if they're not the best, it's not essential to me.

    15. I look at the face first ofcourse.. I ciuld never buy a doll with a face I hate just because the body is nice.. O_o
But in the same way I would never buy a doll who's head I adore with a body I hate. I love Happydoll Dorothy btu I hate her body-sculpt so I haven't even thought about buying her.

I stick to CP-girls because I love their extra "shoulder-to-arm"-joint that makes them able to pose their arms so good.

    16. The face is important to me, but so is the body's ability to function. I mean, what good is a fully posable doll if you can't pose them? :I

Both are equally important to me, and I'm far too picky about both >~< Then again, I love to mod, so getting a body and face I like is good. Anything that's NOT perfect for me, I can just fix myself and remake until it's absolutely what I want ^_^

Edit: Also, the good thing about the BJD hobby is that you can buy a doll with a great body and a head you hate. All of you have to do is get a new head for it. You don't have to settle for less than perfection, you can have it just how you want it.

    17. Face and body are both really important to me -- which is why I've done a lot of hybridization with my own dolls, trying to match the "right" head and body :>

    18. I like a certain amount of poseability, but I don't really care how the body looks under the clothes. I want a doll to be able to be physically expressive, but I'm not really interested in the form per se, so I'm not picky at all about body sculpt.

    19. With my first doll I really didn't care about the body sculpt, because it was so unimpressive. But once I got my DoT Sha I realized what I had been missing. He has an espeically gorgeous back and suddenly the body sculpt became more important to me.

    20. I think sometimes, you can love a head, but not be able to get the doll because you don't like the body, or vice versa. Sometimes, even if you don't like one part as much as the other, the doll is just so gorgeous you can't resist. That's why hybrids are so helpful!

But for me, one day, something just happened that made me -need- uniform resin thoughout the doll. And now, I don't think I can own a hybrid anymore :( which is so sad because there are so many more combinations that way!
