    1. For me, the body is more important. Not hugely so, but if I don't like a body sculpt, I don't like the doll, no matter how nice the face. Especially the hands - hands can make all the difference to me. I have to love the face, too, but I've found myself passing on face sculpts I love if I don't like the body it's attached to.

    2. For me, it goes half and half. If I can't appreciate the body at all, then it simply will not do. If I can't appreciate the face any better, I won't have at it either. Personally, I love feminine bodies as well as thin, tall ones. If they're too muscular (i.e. SoulDolls) I get irked, same goes for bodies that seem too childish.

    3. Both are equally important to me. There are dolls I have steered away from because I did not like the body, and/or also knew the body did not pose well.

Additionally, there have been occassions when even if the body sculpt is wonderful, if the hands are tiny or creepy looking, I will not buy the doll. (I guess I have a thing about hands.)

My favorite doll right now is a hybrid; because I hated the body, but loved the face.

    4. Both are important to me.
For example I have my Juri 06 and I don't think the CP bodies match his character but I can't find a resin match x.x

    5. I've liked a body and haven't liked the face. When that happens I don't even consider the doll. I like to look at both equally. One thing I found with some male BJDs is they are extremely muscular but sculpted like 12 year old boys (cough). I tend to prefer dollshe/dollmore and other shall we say more 'developed' BJDs. My males are boyfriends for my girls and I don't like the idea of my girls molesting children.

    6. I care about face AND body...and if I want a doll to embody a certain character, and the head is perfect but the body just doesn't suit, then I look until I find a body that WILL work. I've got LOTS of 'frankendollies:'

Wren: "Tohya" (boy) head on SD13 (Large Bust) Girl Body w/ LovelyHouse Senior (girl) hands and who will soon be getting Twigling Limb replacements

Talon: F-16 (FCS) head on SD16 Yukinojo body

Aiko: AngelRegion Dana (girl) head on on Blue Fairy (girl) blossom body

Jian: Dive's "Seimei" head (boy) who'll most likely be going on a Dollmore Youth Adam body, NOT the Volks boy body he was made for

Daiichi: Blue Fairy Jerome head (boy) on AngelRegion body

Hideo (planned): Blue Fair Kyle on HEAVILY MODDED boy body

So...yeah. I alter as needed, without hesitation or regret. (My Yo-SD, my Hound, my B-el, and my Volks Kohya are in their original head/body combinations, but all my other dolls...)

    7. I'm a Frankensteiner, and insanely picky, so BOTH matter to me. I've fallen in love with Dollstowns Hue body, but I haven't found a face that speaks to me as much as Soul Dolls Paris head. Thus, I'm getting those two things separate, putting them together, and seeing what I get. I can only hope that if there IS a problem between the head and body, it can be fixed by slight modding or face up. Sadly if there's no way... I'm going to have to just perhaps find a different body for the head, and a different head for the body, as I love them both and I'd adore to keep them both... and if not together... well.. separate to make two doll boys will have to do I guess.

I have yet to find a head that might be better suited for the Hue body though that I like. *sweatdrop* picky picky

    8. the face is #1, but all my dolls have too have a cute little belly

    9. I care about the face much more, mostly because you'll never see the body under the clothes (if you doll wears enough clothes, like mine does). I only have some criteria for the bodysculp and they are primary for practical reasons: They have to be able to stand in other poses than just plain upright with their hands down, their proportions should be okay and their hips (this is mostly for the girls) mustn't be too broad because clothes then fit funny Oô
My SD doll (AR Fair Diana) has these problems ^^; Her arms are very short and her hands quite small, I have huge problems getting her to pose standing and most skirts fit awfully, because of her hips... ^^; But I think these things are hard to figure out when you've never seen or "touched" the specific doll before...

    10. I am in love with Moyi/Cherry from DZ, but I cannot bring myself to get her do to the DZ body. To me it looks off... like Barbie, boobs and shoulders too big for the nonexistant hips.

If I could find a body that would match and be more pleasing to the eye, then I might bring my Moyi home someday, but until then I cannot see paying that much money for a doll whose body I don't like. I think me getting a type2 delf for my first doll has spoiled me. :sweat

    11. While I care about the face the most I really appreciate a good body sculpt. I'm especially attracked to highly detailed & expressive hands. That's the one thing I'm not happy with on my Lydia, Elfdoll hands are rather bland. I'd love to have a Supia Roda simple because she has such a perfect body.

    12. The face is important, ofcourse, but the body is as well.
I don't want anorexic dolls but also not fatty ones (do fatty dolls even excist?). And boobs are important also. I love the CP boobs, but I also love Narae boobs.

And the whole situation has to fit with eachother. Not like the head is amazingly big and the body is very small.

    13. I care about the face way more. I would most likely buy a doll whose face I liked, even if I didn't care for the body, but there's no way I'd buy a doll if I didn't like the face, no matter how nice the body might be.

    14. Gosh, I'm the opposite, I think Elfdoll have some of the best hands I've seen. I've just ordered a Supia Roda as well.

    15. I care about both equally, because I want my doll to sit, or to do some poses and also to have a prety face. I don't know if I'm explaining myself, but for exemple: there's a Volks mold I love, but I will NEVER buy that doll because I dislike the body.

    16. I recently chose my first doll, and to me the look of the body was incredibly important. No matter how beautiful the face is, if the body looks like a stick with silicone breasts I'd never buy it. So here comes my questions:

When you buy your doll, how important is the dolls body?

Would you buy a doll if you loved the face but didn't like the body?

Would you perhaps buy a less beautiful head because it came with a close to perfect body?

(I did a search of the forums but didn't find anything like this, but if this post isn't appropriate or something like that please feel free to move/delete it)

    17. When you buy your doll, how important is the dolls body?

The face is what captures me. I love beautifully modeled hands/feet, and I went out of my way to get a small-bust body for one of my Minifees, but bodies are certainly secondary in purchasing decisions. Case in point: Sard and Beryl. They both have the wonderful hooves and horns, but I liked Sard's face and didn't like Beryl's, therefore I bought him and not her. I'm no photographer, so posability isn't something I spend a lot of time worrying about; it's more like a pleasant surprise to find my doll will stand on his/her own and do other things. Or, if they won't do any of those things, I shrug and love them anyway (see next question).

Would you buy a doll if you loved the face but didn't like the body?
Yes, otherwise I wouldn't have a Pipos! The paws are pure adoration, but the body is not very posable, the bum's too big, and the human nipples just look silly on a cat.

Would you perhaps buy a less beautiful head because it came with a close to perfect body?

No, unless I was planning to hybridize with a head I loved, and there was no other way to get the body.

    18. When you buy your doll, how important is the dolls body?
I haven't bought my first doll yet but plan too soon. I can see where you might be coming from about the dolls body. In some ways yes it does matter but to me I think that face it more important but that is what a lot of people will be seeing unless your doll is running around naked.

Would you buy a doll if you loved the face but didn't like the body?
I'm really not too picky about the body...a lot of the dolls, the ones I'm interested in because I won't get girl bodys, come with small frames with muscle or no muscle...either one is fine with me just as long as the skin color is right and body comes in tact...I wouldn't want if it was completely ruined. But then again who would?

Would you perhaps buy a less beautiful head because it came with a close to perfect body?
Again refering to the first two questions, I myself think the face is more important...and I think that's what a lot of people put their time into. It's a way of showing of their own style in taste in their doll.

    19. Very. I can't stand child faces on mature bodies (it just strikes me as a World of Wrong), for example, so when I found an RML head I loved, I had to hunt around for a child body I liked of the right size.

Depends whether there was a chacne of selling on the body when I swapped the head onto a more appropriate body.

Considering it now, as a matter of fact, so I can swap heads and sell on the the one I don't want.

    20. When you buy your doll, how important is the dolls body?

Both head and body are very important to me. For this reason, almost all of my dolls are hybrids - the only exceptions are a Yo-SD, a Rei Tenshi, and a Senior Delf Boy. Even my one other doll whose parts are all from the same company is not on the body his head is intended to go on. For me, finding the right body and the right head for the character is the important thing. I don't care if the resin match isn't 100% perfect, or the fit is sometimes a bit awkward and requires me to modify the neck.

Amusingly enough, most of my planned future dolls are not hybrids. I suppose I've just had an easier time finding "the right fit" for them straight out of what the companies offer.

Would you buy a doll if you loved the face but didn't like the body?

Sure! And I'd find a new body for it. ;)

Would you perhaps buy a less beautiful head because it came with a close to perfect body?

Well, beautiful might not be the right term, but I'd buy a body that suited a character no matter what head it came with. And then I'd probably sell the head (if I truly didn't like it) and buy one that worked for my character better.
