    1. The body sculpt and head sculpt are about equally important to me. :) And I generally won't do head/body swapping except with dolls with the same type of resin (ex: Volks MSD head on Volks SDC body) so that makes doll-hunting kind of tricky at times. ^^;

I must love the headsculpt to buy a doll. Period.

For the body, I pretty much just care about the functionality (no wonky posing or the like) and if the size is proportional for the character the doll will be. Sure, I like beautifully sculpted shoulders and abs as much as the next person, but I can do without fabulous sculpting. My dolls don't (usually!) sit around naked, so who's to see? ;)

    2. I do love the bodies; I mean;; I look at through scults before choosing, but lately I've been looking through faces. The body's really important to me, but I think the face stands out to me more. It depends, heh~

    3. I care about the body just as much as the head sculpt.
I use the head AND the body to convey feeling in my pictures.
If I can't stand the look of the body, I won't buy that doll. The same goes for a head.
Yes, heads can be modded or have faceups done to change their look..so can bodies. My El has body mods that, in ways, drastically change the way his body looks. Without them, he isn't complete, just like if I wipe his faceup or change his eyes, he isn't complete.

Head and body, to me, are equally important.

    4. I usually pick my dolls by the head sculpt. Then when I get them, I am sometimes thrilled by the body and sometimes disappointed, but I still choose by the head.

    5. Both the head and body sculpt are equally important to me. The body's posing and functionality is one thing, but I'd also have to like the way the body's sculpt looks. Although clothing does cover up more than most of my dolls bodies, I still am very picky when it comes to choosing the right body for a floating head.

    6. Personally I care for both equally because I wouldn't buy a doll If I didn't like the face or if I don't like the body. I was about to sell my liebchen because of her body, but I was able to find a nice one for her ^^ I also sold my elfdoll Mir because I HATE the elfdoll bodies, It is too fat and too short... The body also needs to match he face in color, proportions, and the age I want the doll to have. I care a lot for the face but if the body looks bad I wouldn't buy the doll it would bother me and I would end up ignoring the doll.

    7. My long-winded post: I HATE it when a Doll Co. doesn't put the finishing touches on their design. I don't mean seam-sanding, I mean going through the trouble of making the doll as flexible as possible, but not taking into account the aesthetic beauty of their joint design! I hate obvious points and bumps sticking out of a bent joint: It's like the companies just assume the joints will be covered with clothing all the time. For example: So many people have gushed about the beautiful design of Fairyland's Puki dolls (I agree), but Fairyland hasn't put nearly as much thought into the bodies of their larger dolls. Another example: I am waiting on my lottery win of a Yo-SD, 4-Sisters doll. I am already looking around for a more nicely sculpted body for her...Bambicrony's seem very well executed -BUT- I will probably save the body for a Yuh head. Ultimately faces matter to me more, though I'd like my favorite dolls to be a complete package.

    8. When you buy your doll, how important is the doll's body?
Very important. There are many dolls with faces that I love but I'll never buy because I don't prefer the body type, especially with boys with boyish torsos, and girls with funny-shaped boobs. I like boys to be manly and girls to have boobs that I wish I had.

Would you buy a doll if you loved the face but didn't like the body?
No. There are plenty of dolls with faces I love and bodies I like. I don't have to settle for less.

Would you perhaps buy a less beautiful head because it came with a close to perfect body?
Again, probably not. There are plenty of bodies I like, and more than enough heads for those bodies. Maybe I'll change my mind once I have 10+ dolls, but I'm good to go for a few years. ;)

    9. I'd say I like them both.

I mean, I do care a lot about the joints on the bodies, and the sculpts of the hands and feet.

For example, my sisters DZ Mo's hands bother me, because they're so big and the thumb is slightly disproportionate, however, my DZ Megi v2's hands are much more slender and have better proportions.

But I do care about the face sculpts, as well. :3

    10. face sculpt is the first thing i look at, so its the most important to me...it has to match the character, and i have to like it :)! same with the body, but to a slightly lesser degree...however, that said, the head/face and body have to match. a childlike face on a really buff body freaks me out. same with a super-manly squareish face on a skinny too-small body. if you like that kind of thing, thats cool, this is just my opinion, but my "kids" have to be in proportion or id go nuts...

    11. I feel the face is a veeery important part due to the fact that it's the face for whichever character the doll is for me... However the right body is also a must.

      --LONG AND BORING EXPLAINATION---

I'm not sure if other people do this at all but all the bodies I have planned for my dolls have to match the character. Not just the face. It matters a lot to me how each doll's body is in relation to the other dolls and in my mind each of them have a specific image that they project through their body type so almost every one of my characters is different. Some are average, others are incredibly thin or frail, I have a body builder, a couple models, a rock star... it just keeps going but you get the idea...

So anyway... this is getting to be very long winded for something people most likely won't read or care about but yea... I'm always searching for the perfect body for everyone. For example one of my characters is a veeery thin and flat chested girl so I've been considering the Thaasa body, Yugiri's body, or just the SD13 small bust body. Another character of mine has a very distinct body shape. He's known for his height and broad shoulders but he's still quite skinny... sadly, I haven't found the right body for him at all yet though the Dollzone 70cm is working alright for now. The SD17 body seems to look like it's what I need though but I need to see that in person I think.

So yea... A lot of my characters are very different from each other both body-wise and face-wise ((a given)) so in the end I'm pretty sure I'll end up with quite a few crazy hybrids...

      ((puu I ramble!))

      --Explaination done--

In conclusion... I guess both are extremely important to me but since the head sculpt for the character needs to exist in order for the right body to be chosen... The head sculpt takes priority over the body.

    12. If I don't like the body, it doesn't matter how much I like the head, I will either end up neglecting the doll, selling the whole doll, or selling the body and finding a new body. I guess you can say I'm very picky because I have only found a few body sculpts that I truly like. Posing is also a huge issue. Single jointed bodies with limited poseability are boring to me. For me, it takes the 'perfect' head AND body to create my dream doll (and since I'm only going to have one BJD, I think pickiness makes sense =P)

    13. I care for both, but I think that the bodies are a little bit more important to me. The look of the joints and the poseability comes first, the over all look of the body second and the face third.

    14. I wouldn't buy a doll with a face I found unappealing, even if I loved the body...and I wouldn't buy a doll with a lovely face if it had an awful body (in my opinion) I'm very happy with all my dolls and I wouldn't be tempted to change their bodies unless the resin match was spectacular and the aesthetic match was very good. I dislike the bobble-head look very much!

    15. I care about the face much more.

I find it important for the body to be very posable, but if the head is just perfect for a certain character and the body is ugly or something, I'd still buy the doll.
I would never buy a doll just because the body is wonderful.

    16. Before I buy a doll I have to love the face and the body. If I can't find a sculpt that has both, I go for a hybrid. Otherwise I think it's a waste of my money.

This is what i do too. That's why lord Alikaj is on a Flexibody (and will get a Perennial body as soon as I have found the money for it). He needed to have a body that was muscled, but slender. The Elfdoll-body, no matter how beautiful, didn't match his character. And Timothy wouldn't be Timothy with out the Dollstown hands. I think the body tells us just as much about the character as the head. You can't separate them.

    17. I care way more about the face than the actual sculpt of the body. However, I'm a stickler for size. I like larger dolls, but they aren't really for me.

    18. I care about both, but i guess i lean more towards the body. I know that i don't have much room to talk since i still don't have my first doll :sweat But LOVE the look of the more muscle body of Iplehouse's Evan. I also look to see how the body and the head match each other.

    19. I tend to be attracted to the face of a doll first, but I do tend to switch out bodies if the overall aesthetic doesn't work for me. I also tend to have duplicates of bodies that I like, because I think the body does make a huge difference for me in how I feel about the doll (especially when I'm considering the way they move).

    20. They are equally important.

The head must be good looking enough for me to consider to buy a it. I would really like a body that look nice, balance well and pose good enough for picture taking. Since I rarely take nekkid or topless pictures of my boys, I do not mind if the body sculpt is simple as long as it balance well etc.

But everything may change now since my soom boy has body brushing LOL
