1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How much is too much for a company faceup?

Aug 3, 2014

    1. For me, it definitely depends on the quality of the faceup whether I find it overpriced or not. If a faceup is unusually beautiful and intricate, then I don't mind the faceup being unusually expensive, too, as whoever made it probably spent more time on it than for the average faceup. I personally don't do faceups myself for lack of skill (and needed materials, although I could buy those of course) so I would probably grudgingly accept the prolonged waiting time for the company faceup. However, I wouldn't hesitate to commission an artist to do a custom faceup if I didn't quite like the look of a company faceup, but still wanted the doll itself.
Personally, I'm fine with my doll not being completely unique and 'original', so I'm glad something like company faceups even exists. It makes life a lot easier for unskilled and -talented people like me :')

    2. I'm not artistically talented so I chose the company face-up however I've chosen all limited dolls so there won't be a great deal looking like mine. Around $75 is the ideal price for me.

    3. I think it is OK to charge the extra for a company make up that is more detailed than a standard make up. I also think that a good faceup will add to the value of a doll.

    4. If the cost of the face up is more than the doll's head itself, I'd just buy it blank and do it myself.

    5. It depends on the quality of the faceup and if it's in a style I like. Generally speaking, I'd expect to spend between $50 and $70 for a company faceup. For a custom faceup, I'd be willing to spend up to $150.
