How often do you bring your doll outside?

Feb 6, 2013

    1. Most of my dolls have been outside for various reasons. Mostly I take them outside in yard for photos and occasionally to work. My friend there is always curious to see what I've been working on.

      I've also taken dolls on vacation though it's never more than one or two. Too much trouble to take anymore than that. My Issac has traveled the most. He's been to Philadelphia and Florida most recently.

    2. I just got my dolly a bit ago and it's really cold out so I don't even go out much. But I've taken her to dinner and out for tea and to visit my friends. I have a feeling she will be coming with me many more places in the future because I just love her company. <3

    3. I bring my dolls outside when I take them pictures, also when I go to conventions. :)

    4. I always take at least one doll along when I travel~ I also take them here and there to get pictures and on a few occasions I've taken them to my university as well.

    5. All you guys who take your dolls out seem really courageous to me T_T I don't have my doll yet but I know that I won't have the guts to take her outside where other people will see...

    6. Every now and then for a photo shoot, the rest of their time they spend in my room where the shutters are always closed.

    7. I've taken dolls with me overseas! They're wonderful in-flight entertainment, and I've gotten some super-cute photos too! :3
      But back in 'real life', nah I don't take mine outside too often; outside you're subject to wind and weather and bugs! (or maybe it's just where I live... I hate bugs and spiders... >,<) Aside from meetups, I sometimes sneak one with me to work and she'll keep me company for the day, or I'll take one out for an occasional back-yard shoot, or my boyfriend and I will go to the park and take some dolls for a picnic! (and a couple of times we took them to the movies too! XD) :aheartbea I prefer to do indoor photoshoots though, they're much more manageable! ^^;

    8. Mine have been all over. I'll take them outside and gets shots in parks and the like as well as outdoor meets in the summer. I also bring my dolls to work sometimes (they'll sit on the corner of my desk). I always bring dolls with me when I go to AnimeNorth as there's a sub-con within the main one called DollNorth which is all about dolls. I've also brought dolls with me on vacation to the Bahamas and Colorado. For the Bahamas, the doll was a tiny and he fit easily in my purse. For Colorado, I brought an MSD and 2 tinies and they fit into an oversized purse.

      I like to bring my dolls out and about and as long as you keep an eye on them and don't leave them in direct sunlight for long periods of time, you should be fine. The only thing I'd suggest is to always carry them in a padded bag if you're walking around as you never know when you'll trip and go splat and concrete is not a forgiving surface where dolls are concerned. For travel on public modes of transport (bus/train/plane) I'd suggest keeping the doll with you in the passenger cabin and NOT as checked baggage because the handlers are not overly gentle with bags when loading/unloading.

    9. If I have enough time and energy I'll bring them out for photo shoot =D

    10. I take mine out whenever I can. I like to take pictures of them and honestly the best lighting is outside but since the winter where I live is somewhere close to below 0 most of the time, I'm kind of limited for part of the year.

    11. I don't go outside much, so my dolls don't either. I have one, my puki, that I got as a "travel doll." She goes everywhere and does anything, but the rest stay indoors and look pretty.

    12. I rarely take my dolls out. The single time I have was to a convention.
      I'd like to take him out more, but I tend to change my mind about bringing him last minute.
      I always think something bad would happen to him if I did, but then I regret taking him along later. ^^;

    13. I bring mine outside on nice days for photos a few times, but I've brought my little one out when I go to hobby lobby or Jo-Ann's. I get positive responses!

    14. I take my dolls or even one of them with me when I go out. Even if I don't have plans to take photos of him/her/them, I just let him/her/them sit in my bag..it somehow makes me feel better. Like now, I'm in school but I have Kael in my bag. I had plans to take some pics of him today, so when we have break between our classes, I will take him out of my bag and take some pics...
      But yes, I take my dolls out with me when I have a change to do so :''3

    15. I find it embarrassing since I live in a very rural town. No one understands BJDs or the BJD culture so it's strange. I always imagine someone outside taking pictures of a barbie, and thats probably how people see me. Indoor pictures are nice!

    16. I know what you mean! I've scoured the internet, cities, friend groups and every other place I can find and nobody in my country even knows what BJD's are DX

    17. same here, people don't know what a bjd is, so I think they see them like plastic dolls that should be used only by a little girl (I also have plastic/vinyl dolls and I play with them too).. plus people here think I'm weird when I take pictures of flowers and nature things, I can't even imagine how they could react if I took pictures of a doll!!

      anyway I took some of my dolls outside (and not only in my garden XD) the first one was my OT micro, he's just 5cm so no one noticed him :P then I took a realpuki and dhs spooky jester to the post office and then another realpuki to a shop but I took them out only when people couldn't see me!
      I wanted to bring 1 or 2 realpukis with me to the beach (with my mom, because my friends saw a picture of Soso and told me I was crazy!) for taking pictures but I was afraid of the sand..

    18. I have never brought them outside of my house before . I just feel really scared to damage them or something ...

    19. I LOVE taking my dolls out!!!
      What is the point in spending all that money just to have them sit around? :3

      Mostly they go to the movies and shopping with me but I've taken them to Ihop with me before

      the table was clean though! No syrup around my babies >,<

    20. I got my first doll recently (well an on topic for here one) and he will make his first outing in about a week to a doll meet. Hopefully he will get out monthly (for the meets) and any conventions. Our doll meets take place on weekends at my former university ^^ Home of a huge Anime con... no one would think twice seeing a random one on any day lol. Years ago I took my 1/6 Volks to a meet up (diff group) at our legislature grounds... Not sure what stood out more, the dolls or the lolita's ... not to mention one 'male' member dressed in gothic victorian... But ppl seemed to enjoy it... we even got to chat with a lady out walking her 'ferret'. I would love to have my boy with me all the time but... he's 70cm ><. If i ever manage to figure a hands free way to carry him openly... I'd give it a go ^^.
