1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How often do you restring your dolls?

Dec 22, 2022

    1. My dolls are sitting or stading in a little wooden cabinet with a glass door. I rarely hace time to make them pics, specially in winter. So I touch them very little. I check on them every 6 months ish. I resteing them only when they feel floppy.
Some of them are due for MOT this spring :XD:. So yea, I try to keep an eye on them. I always have some spare string, kips and a ready hot glue when it's the time to restring them.

    2. True! I bought a couple garage kit small resin dolls, and those come unstrung. So I'll be getting in a bit of practice soon! My bigger dolls are new so they are still very nicely strung at the moment :) But when the time comes I'll be careful and I'm sure it won't be as bad as I'm scared of. Thank you guys for the advice!

    3. My 13.5 year old boy has never been restrung and is still tight. No idea what DoD was using but it does not stretch. A few of my tinies I haven't restrung either.

After about 8 years I got frustrated with a few of my dolls being too floppy (for me even!) and completely restrung my minis. I haven't sourced SD sized elastic so all of my boys have only been tightened. At least they can stand with a stand now.

    4. I restring my dolls once every 3-4 years, more frequent than typical doll owners because I tend to play around with them a lot (I love the photography and posing part of the hobby).

I couldn't really understand tutorials when it came to restringing, and figured it out by myself when unstringing my dolls, and it's really interesting to see the slight variations certain companies decide to string their dolls. One method may not fully work for another body sculpt so it's important to take note.

One mistake I made was to have my dolls sit cross-legged when on display for a long period of time, as the tension of the stringing loosen unevenly over the years, making it unbearable to handle them as one leg would dangle and feel looser than the other.

I'd tighten my knots as well, to retain tension. But elasticity will be lost over time, and I'd take it as a sign to restring when my doll can no longer hold their ground properly standing without support.

    5. I restring my dolls from time to time for customization reasons somewhat often.

I don't restring my dolls often for fixing the tension very often. Like I change the elastics maybe once every 5 years???
