1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Old Are You?

Feb 26, 2014

    1. I'll be 24 in a few weeks :) I've noticed that as I get older my tastes tend to get more expensive ~.~ Gone are the days when Barbies would suffice.

    2. I'll be turning 20 this year and I'm planning for my first doll at the moment! It's really interesting to see the age range here, wow *^*

    3. Im 30 and the older I get the more I get stuck into the hobby :)

    4. I'm 23, turning 24 in May. ;D

No, I don't think you'd ever be too old for BJDs. xD
I don't think I'll ever be leaving the hobby, maybe a break, but never leave it.

I think the majority of us are mid-college age and older, judging from a recent poll on one of the BJD facebook groups. xD

    5. I'm 23 and my birthday is next week. I started collecting BJDs when I was 19.

    6. Wow, you guys are making me feel way too young, I'll be turning 21 this year.
*ALSO* I am going to show this thread to my mother who is 43 and thinks I'm insane for being in this hobby and assumes everyone here is 14-18 (but really, why would they be? I've yet to meet a 14 year old with $400+ to drop on a doll)
      Hooray for diversity! :D

    7. I'm turning 25 next month.
And yeah, I agree with everyone saying that there's no such thing as too old. ;)

    8. I'm 48. I'm not surprised to see a lot of older collectors, since there are a lot of people of all ages who collect other types of dolls! (And yes, I got into the hobby via a love for anime/manga!)

    9. I'm about to turn 18, I have been in the hobby for four years straight and I own 3 dolls c; I don't think there's an age limit for this hobby and is really nice to meet new people with such different age ranges <33

    10. I'm loving the age ranges! XD

I'm 16, turning 17 in April and i'm waiting for my first gal to arrive ^u^ You all make me feel too young to be into this hobby xD

    11. I'm 23 turning 24 in May. Been collecting since I'm 22 (not very long) and I'm currently waiting on my 8th girl :). My family grew rather fast!

    12. Don't worry felly-pepper! I think I was 14 when I got my first doll. I'm 21 now, had an almost 4 year long break, but coming back strong now!

    13. Oh cool! So i'm not alone for starting to collect younger xD

It was hard saving up for my first gal, but thanks to my dads help i could afford her. Did any of you have problems like that starting out young? :3

    14. I'm 23. You're never too old for BJDs.

    15. I'm 37 years old and I've been in the hobby since 2009. My birthday is in September and I'll be 38 (obviously) :XD:

    16. *bonds with Sapphire*

I'm 36, and I've been doing this for seven years now. There's no age limit on dolls.

    17. Me too! I'll be 36 this year! This will be my 6th year, as I bought my first doll as a 30th bday gift to myself. :)

And there's definitely no age limit, in my local community I'm about in the middle of the age range, and my mom even has dolls!

    18. I just turned 23 but I got into the hobby when I was 14 and got my first doll when I was 16. I don't believe anyone is too old to have dollies!

    19. I've met BJD owners from approx 10yrs - 80yrs old, there is no age limit for dolls.

I am 40 years old, born 1973, year of the Ox. :moo I've been around the hobby for almost 15 years, I collected 1/6th Dollfie in the late '90s before Volks made Super Dollfies. Collecting-wise, I come from a fashion doll, action figure and anime background. I bought my first resin bjd in 2006, he's still with me, his bony frog butt is planted on the doll sofa right in the center of all the other dolls.

    20. I'm currently 21 and still waiting for my first doll to arrive. Ordered him last year but he probably won't arrive till a month or so.. It's really interesting how this hobby equally attracts people from varying age groups. I agree with everyone else that there shouldn't be an age cap for collecting dolls.
