1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Old Are You?

Feb 26, 2014

    1. I'll be 30 in a couple of months.

    2. I have 26 years and I'm an eternal child.
No one is too old to be happy and the dolls make us happy.

    3. Oh gosh...

I'm pretty young, all my co-workers call me "babu" or "a baby".
Most of my co-workers are around 30.

      I'm 21.

    4. When I joined this forum I was 25. I was reading back on some of my old posts. Wow. I just turned 28. I don't think I'm old at all though, which is odd because I used to fear being older than 25. Now that many of my friends are thriving in their 30s, I still feel pretty young in comparison.

    5. I'm 22 :D wish I started collecting sooner when I had first discovered the hobby! I missed out on far too many beautiful sculpts because of it :'(

    6. I'm 27, I've been in the hobby since I was 19. :D

    7. I'll be 29 this year, but I've been interested in this hobby since I was 18. I believe there's no age limit on hobbies you love.

    8. I'm 35, and 36 7th of February, but sometimes I'm 8... :)

    9. I'm 47 years old, and, like another poster put it so aptly, an "eternal child."

It's not always easy to let others know about some of my less "mainstream" hobbies (I get the strangest looks when taking one of my Tamagotchi somewhere) but the age range of DoA makes me comfortable and and relaxed about stating my age without the need of explanation or qualification.

The most exciting fact for me is the discovery that there are many others who, like me, discovered the beauty and versatility of BJDs later in life.

I don't know why my brain decided to all of a sudden, out of the blue, fall in love with BJDs, but I am happy it did :)

    10. I'm 19 years old going on 20 and I wish I could reverse time and be a child forever, but I suppose my hobbies/ interests will remain frozen in time. My dad is in his late 40s and he collects comics and video games, so I think I can collect what I want until I'm dead!

    11. I'm 29 and I wouldn't say that I'm an eternal child, because I was pretty mature even for a child back then, but I'm definitely an eternal dreamer. I was always told that it's like I'm walking on a cloud, always a bit removed from reality, and I guess this hobby fits that perfectly :D

I don't think a person can be too old for any kind of hobby, though (except maybe some really strenous ones if their health doesn't allow it anymore, but even that is on a case-by-case basis). Anyway this BJD hobby seems to particularly attract the young adult (in their 20s) and younger middle aged (in their 30-40s) population - my guess is that it's the time when we reach a kind of financial stability that we can afford them, but still have enough free time to get really into the creative aspect of it. But that's not to say that there aren't plenty of older or younger BJD collectors, just as invested in the hobby!

    12. I'm 23 and honestly I'm okay with being a child at heart. I think it's important to hold onto that childlike spark, it makes life more fun.

    13. I'm 37 and very glad to not be the oldest person here.

    14. I'm 25. :)
I was first interested in BJD's when I was 13/14, and now after 11-ish years I'm getting my first doll. :'D So glad.

    15. I got my first doll some months ago and I am 23 years old. I love dolls so much that I beleive I will collect them even when I am 60!!! ^^

    16. I'm surprised to see so many young people on here...I figured the median age would be much older. I'm the big 50!

    17. I'm 25 and I think I can only get more into dolls with age; when I get a higher paying job after my graduation and such.

    18. I'm 27 this year, but yes, I do feel a bit old, especially when I'm scouting around the kids section trying to find props or stuff for my doll. I actually had a cashier ask me, "Aren't you a little old to buy this?" when I was out buying some props. That was a bad experience, I blushed to the roots of my hair, paid for it and just scurried off - even though I know I shouldn't be embarrassed.

    19. I'm 27 today actually. I got my first doll when I was 25, but I've loved BJDs since high school. I always figured it's a hobby that requires people to be older given the amount of money it takes to maintain. I'm always surprised when I see younger people in the hobby!
