1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How Old Are You?

Feb 26, 2014

    1. 35!!!! I love it - so far I am having fun :)

    2. I'll be thirty by the end of the year. Which is weird to me sometimes because I definitely don't 'feel' thirty. But then, I collect toys, so...

There are a lot of toy collectors in my family (both sides), it's something of a multigenerational hobby. Some collect dolls, some collect Legos, some collect figures... some collect a little bit of everything. And I think it's definitely true that play keeps you young. I've got relatives more than twice my age with enviable collections that are proudly displayed and played with.

It's nice to have grown up with this idea that toys are not something to be outgrown, even if ones tastes change to things that are more 'collectible', or more challenging (in terms of Lego sets and video games, at least). I know I'll never outgrow mine!

    3. I turned 60 in December last year and have been in the hobby since 2006. As for the "too old" question, I had always thought doll collecting was something older ladies did so I wasn't surprised to find there are older ladies that enjoy collecting bjds especially since some of us also like anime and manga and discovered these beautiful dolls via those interests.

I do agree with a lot of the others here who have said that if you enjoy something, you're never too young or too old for it.

    4. i'm turning 21 this december >___<
got my first doll when I was 16.

    5. I'm 19 and I think no matter what anyone says you are never too old for dolls of any kind.

    6. Turning 32 this year. Been at it almost 10 years, just today found out I have 34 BJDs+DDs, waiting/layaway on 6. right now just wondering if this is unhealthy for me ><

    7. I am 46. My grandmother collected dolls all her life. My mother collects dolls and, I have been a collecter since I was young. I am new to buying BJDs but not new to their existence and charm. It will not surprise me at all if my mother who is in her 60's starts buying BJDs because of me. They are a wonderful hobby for any age.

    8. lol if I tell you my age I think everyone will know who I am may be I am the oldest doll bjd collector but love and enjoy them so much I regret that I only discovered them about three years ago but I want to continue to enjoy them for as long as I am able, I am 70yrs young and definitely not senile.

    9. I'm 24 years old and I just got my first doll this month! :) I don't think this is something you can get 'too old' for, especially since it seems more like a hobby for adults!

    10. I'm 24, turning 25 this year!
I'm not sure I'll ever be to old for the hobby.
But maybe as I get old the term "playing" my dolls will be different? Lol.
As you get older and life gets more hectic you might not have as much time for your dolls and such.
Doesn't mean I wont love mine any less. XD

    11. I'm 49, got my first BJD four years ago. I've loved dolls all of my life - Barbies and Madame Alexander dolls as a kid back in the 70's, then antique dolls when I got married twenty five years ago....and now these amazing resin people. Dolls are such a delightful part of my life and I think they always will be...:)

    12. Going to be 25 in a couple months, and I started when I was 21

    13. I'm turning 30 this augustus XP I've got my first doll for my 27th birthday ^^

    14. I will be 37 this year and no, I don't think that you can be too old for BJD's or any dolls for that matter. I have met people of all ages since I started collecting and we all seem to enjoy them equally.

    15. I'm 32, I feel old sometimes but it has nothing to do with dolls lol.

    16. I am 23, turning 24 next month. I purchased my first BJD when I was 20. I enjoy the hobby so much, I don't see myself 'getting too old' for it. You're never to old to do something you love! :)

    17. I'm going to be 27 this year and nop I really think there is no age to stop loving doll. It is so enjoying, I will certainly love them until a die.

    18. The age range in this hobby is so amazing and I absolutely love it! I feel like all things considered we have a great community and you could probably chalk a great deal of that up to our huge variety in age, location, etc.

I'm currently 17, soon to be 18 in August...

I consider myself to have joined the hobby when I was 12, because that was when I discovered bjds and started hardcore researching saving every little bit of money I got... and two years of saving later I had two bjds! So I was previously most active in 2010 when I was 14 and got my first dolls and joined DoA... I took a break (during which I still bought another doll whoops) because of a lot of big changes in my life but 4 years later I'm back with 4.5 dolls! Adds up to a total of 6 years in the hobby so far.

I think it's really interesting that reading through this thread I've noticed a few of the other teenaged members have said similar things, that they took a long break from the hobby and came back to it later.

I'm really looking forward to being some of y'all's (oh dear lord I wasn't expecting spellcheck to accept that as a word) ages and still going steady!

    19. Poodle: Nope, your not. A doll collector friend of mine has a Lusion Dahlia and she is 80!

    20. I will be 23 this month! Honestly, I think you can never be too old as long as you're doing something you love.
