1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How to find IRL doll friends?

Sep 1, 2013

    1. I am so sorry to hear that, chanarivka. Don't give up! I'm positive that there's at least one other BJD collector near you who would want to meet up. It might take a few months, but keep doing your outreach (flyers, tumblr, posting in the meetup subforum here). You're bound to find someone locally. Hang in there!

    2. I have one BJD friend, Though I was the one who introduced her to them after posting pictures of my doll wish list on Facebook XD I had been friends with her before (We go to school together), but after dolls we got our own little thing to talk about. We have meet ups with just us two everyso often and it's very good fun ^^

So yeah, I suggest seeing if you can get existing friends into the hobby- not only will you strengthen your friendship, but you will have a unique subject to talk about!

    3. I went to an anime convention a couple months ago with my younger brother and his (then) girlfriend. They totally ditched me at the door. It was kind of upsetting at first, but I ran into some great people with similar interests--which is kind of hard to do in my situation. It was kind of a blessing in disguise because otherwise I would've probably just wandered the con with nothing better to do otherwise. The friends I made weren't actually BJD friends, but I went there for the lolita events anyway. I'm kind of thinking of bringing a BJD with me to the next one, going on my own, and seeing who I meet. I've seen people take waterbottle cozies (the kind with a strap that you can hang on your shoulder/across your chest) and use them to carry their Yo-SDs close.

      So that's my idea.

    4. Chanarivka, don't give up >O<! For me, I only know one italian girl beside the forum who love bjd but... she lives really far far away from me Q__Q we can talk only thanks to skype.
I'm pretty sure in my Academy there are other people who likes bjd... but I still haven't meet anyone ;_; but one day I try to talk of them to some of my friends! One was pretty scared, poor girl ;__; another was like "meh, they're cute, but you relly want to spend so many money on a doll?" and the last was amazed *__*! He just want to know more and he totally love them!
To introduce the topic... we was at the bar, chatting about the photography course and the subject of the photo. Then I say that the only subject I'd like to photograph are bjd. They look at me like this --> O__O and then I start to telling them about XD
So... maybe try to find something correlated? Like talking about sewing or photography or drawing... then introduce bjd? Maybe it can work?
(Hope I was clear enough ;__;)
