1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How to know how to price your dolls?

Aug 21, 2024

    1. Hi. I’m looking to sell my dolls since I want to get a new one and these have just been sitting in the box since I got them really since I thought I like the cute ones when really I just want adult versions to make into characters.

Since I’ve never sold before I have no idea what is normal for pricing?

    2. You seem to have marketplace access, so have a search in the sold dolls archive and see how much they have sold for. Or search other sites too. Other than that it's a mix of how much you want for them or how little you're willing to let them go for a faster sale. There's no hard and fast rules.

    3. I'd also say that look and compare sold listings of similar dolls on various marketplaces and you'll get a pretty good idea. There is definitely no fear of ripping people off if you price lower than new price for an used doll - but also be ready to lower the price a lot if you want a quicker sale.

P.s. you might want to edit out the sculpts from your post - DoA rules don't allow concrete pricing advice

    4. Moderator Reminder: Normally we remove these posts for "Marketplace Research" as it is not allowed on DOA. It alerts members who may not have MP access that a member will likely have stuff FS. But the two responders here have given good advice as to how to conduct your own search for current pricing info and the way the initial post was stuctured made it easy to remove the list of dolls FS without editing the general questions.

      General advice:

If you have DOA marketplace access we have a "Sold Dolls archive" of finished doll sale posts for the last 6 months or so. Using the search button conduct a search for the dolls you are interested in selling one by one. Check asking prices. Look at what was included with sale. Accessories and extra parts may make a difference as will a well-done face-up. Please keep in mind that it will only show you what was asked for a doll and some buyers and sellers may have reached agreements on price + shipping via convo that are not reflected in the finished posts.

Join FB or social media groups for buying and selling BJDs look at sold Markeplace listings. Be wary of scammers should you decide to post there.

Go to ebay and etsy search for your BJDs see what people have asked. Be wary of potential recast postings. On ebay you can search for completed and sold listings only. Keep in mind that "best offer accepted" posts sold for less than what you see.

Overall keep in mind that the BJD market as a whole is over-saturated. The vast majority of dolls will sell used for less than original price. Very few dolls will sell over price unless they are a very recent, desireable limited release.

    5. Oops sorry about putting the dolls I didn’t realize it broke the rules. I’ve honestly just been a bit stressed about it so just kind of word vomited. Thank you all so much! It’s super helpful cause I did look at Facebook first and some of the dolls of the same type were sold way over original doll price.
