1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How will the recently implemented tariffs affect your doll collecting?

Nov 9, 2024

    1. The de minimis exception was eliminated for Chinese goods only. If you are ordering from South Korea/Republic of Korea, a head valued at $200 (less than $800) should not be subject to import tariffs/duties/tax.
Dealers, however, tend to import dolls in batches, so they would have to pay import tariffs on a larger shipment.

    2. Thank you @MaleficentMrsofEvil I just bought the Opaleighty/Rainman head. I paid $36 in shipping. I believe EMS Korea. We’ll see where things are in three months!

    4. Finally decided to gamble on an order off of eBay for a wig, which is shipping from China.

We will see how this really goes, and I will update either way.

At checkout there was an information bubble that said that nothing else would be owed. To be sure, I looked into this more.

Apparently with SpeedPAK, the tariffs/duties are prepaid by the seller (in other words, included in the price of the item/shipping). Customs clearing forms are also processed by SpeedPAK.

      eBay’s info on this

There are other shipping options that do not do this though, so when I update, this will be exclusively about SpeedPAK.

Again, I feel like this is somewhat of a gamble, but worst case, if there is some other egregious tariff later, I can always refuse the parcel. According to everything I have been able to find about this purchase though, it seems like there should be no extra charge, especially since SpeedPAK does the customs processing.

Shipping ETA is 2-9 June, so hopefully I have something more to add on this within a few weeks.

    5. I just received my Dada's Doll Little Fox head from Space Studio yesterday. No issues. My Dollsphere order was also delivered to my mom's house without issue. But aside from things I had already preordered, I won't be putting in any new orders for awhile.

    6. Interesting! I've been afraid to buy wigs, shoes, and props via SpeedPAK since this whole thing started. I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes for you. Thank you for posting this.

    7. Oh great news about Space Studio since I have a head and clothes ordered from them. Did you choose their default shipping?

    8. So, I paid for it over a month ago and wasn't given an option for shipping. And it didn't ship until May 11. However, they do have a statement on their website about tariffs in the FAQ section.
      "
Will U.S. tariff policies affect my order or shipping?
No worries. Your order will NOT be affected at all. We offer both air and sea shipping options to the United States using DDP (duties paid) channels. This means all customs clearance and taxes are already covered. You do not need to pay anything extra or deal with customs yourself.

Our shipping profiles have already been updated to comply with the latest regulations. You can place your order with confidence and we will take care of the rest."

    9. Yea of course!

Tariffs aside, a huge concern of mine was stuff get caught up and delayed/lost through customs because the customs office here would be unprepared, but if the shipping company is handling that, it really eases up my concerns.

I'd been out of the doll hobby for a while so most of my international purchases in recent years have been from the UK, when I've bought art supplies. Whenever the shipping company processes the parcel through customs themselves, it always get here crazy fast and smoothly. I can't speak for Speedpak yet, but I am hoping that the process is similar. I'll be updating on that too.

    10. I'm not sure if I am relieved or in a panic right now. lol

Two of my orders have been shipped. One is from ACBJD and is coming FedEx. The other one is coming DHL. I have no idea what is going to be owed because of the tariffs and handling charges from FedEx and DHL. I will keep everyone updated about the charges.

On one hand I am relived that two of my three dolls I ordered before this fiasco started are being shipped, on the other hand. I have no idea how much this is going to cost to get them. It is what it is.

    11. I ordered a bunch of doll shoes from Aliexpress and they arrived today, I once again was not charged any customs. So as long as the Ali listing says "import charges included" it seems to truly be included and there's no other additional charges being made. I did notice not all listings have this tho, so be sure to check carefully.

    12. Some good news:
The U.S. Court of International Trade this afternoon struck down Trump’s mass tariffs as unlawful.
In particular, the court found that Trump overstepped the emergency authority granted to him by the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA). Its ruling was on summary judgment and permanently enjoins the tariffs. It finds no genuine dispute as to any material fact.

    13. The court ruling is a first good step, but I am not convinced the current administration will abide by it or not find another legal "justification" to impose them again. The court merely ruled that the reason the administration gave for imposing them under the emergency order was not valid.

    14. As of today the tariffs have been reinstated while the administration appeals the ruling. So this situation is not going to settle down for a while. I'm torn between pessimism and wishful thinking.

    15. oof same. Without going into any non-doll politics, it sure does put importing and global shipping into an awkward spot.

    16. OK guys, my very obviously Chinese shipping box containing DreamValley's Ghost Moth just was left on my doorstep and no one charged me anything. :thumbup
      :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup
Soooo relieved and hoping everyone's orders fare the same!!!

I'll open it up hopefully sometime this weekend if life allows.

    17. Update on my two packages.

The FedEx arrived today, and I paid $0 tariffs. The doll was shipped through Canada. I am very relieved and my doll is home with me safe and sound.

The DHL is a different story entirely. I was told by the doll company that DHL is not shipping from China to U.S.

    18. I recently shipped a doll with DHL that I bought with Superbuy. Superbuy had me prepay about 50% with the shipping cost. Their customer service also messaged me a couple times to provide what I assume is additional info to complete customs paperwork. I got a message today from DHL that my package is on route to be delivered Tuesday.
