How would you feel if there's a doll that look like you?

Jan 23, 2013

    1. This would be pretty cool, but then all my currently owned bjd would be out of scale with the doll me.
And of course my doll's character would have to be a doll collector...so this wouldn't work out!

    2. Actually I have 2 dolls and each look like my daughters. I think I did that subconsciously.

    3. Oh, I think that would be awesome. Not sure if I would buy it, but the chances are good. It would be fun to try all the different colors and styles of hair, as well as clothes and face ups. I'm not too into clothes, hair, or make up myself, but it would be fun to do all that to a mini-me. Lol, my husband would think I am crazy though!

    4. I'll be flattered but I wouldn't buy it because I'd feel weird to play with "myself" :sweat

    5. fairyland just made the nanuri 14 which looks freakishly like me. To the point where a lot of my friends were showing me and freaking out. I went ahead and bought it. I kinda have a weird major crush on my breakaway doll. So it would be cool if I could be with him in doll form. Idk maybe that sounds totally nuts.

    6. I'm not too sure if I'd be a popular sculpt but I'd be so flattered if there was ever a BJD sculpted after me. I look rather plain, although nothing wrong with that. I, myself, however prefer to buy dolls that define my definition of cute and adorable. It would be so much fun to actually dress myself in YOSD form though. I'd probably buy one just to show the offspring later, haha~

    7. There is a bjd that I think looks a lot like I did as a kid.
I didn't end up wanting her because she's a bigger size doll and I am into tinies (at least for now!)
Also as a kid my parents and grandparents got us dolls which are off-topic here, but it was my first experience with "real" dolls so I hope it's ok to mention in passing. As an adult I can now look at this doll with a more critical eye and enjoy the details and nice faceup that they gave her back in the mid '90s. The resemblance of the dolls to me/us as kids is a little iffy, but with a bit of imagination... well, they're cool to have all these years later because even though we live at opposite ends of the country now, it's like my sister and I are still always together, at least in doll form.

    8. as someone who owns a nonbjd doll that was made to look like me as a child (my twinn doll) i know i would be way more than creeped out of i saw a ball jointed one that looks like me. that being said my dream doll looks like i did when i was 8...

    9. It'd be fine, but I am sure I'd never get it. There's this one doll that looks a ton like my little sister and that weirds me out. I suspect I'd feel the same if one looked like me.
I do remember when I was just starting to look for my first doll I had a Korean friend that knew what they were and she went, "Oh, yeh! Those dolls look like you!" I don't know what she was talking about, but it was funny.

    10. I dunno it might be kind of cool to have rubenesque doll. :XD: I dunno about my face though - that would be too much. I recently found a doll that has a very similar face to my son. I'm really thinking of purchasing the head but I don't know how he would feel about that.

    11. If there was a doll that looked like me I would think it'll be pretty cool! :) I don't know whether it will sell or not, but I would be thrilled to see what characters my doll look alike can embody.

    12. I would not want a doll that looks exactly like me, but I would not mind the mini me doll.

    13. I would TOTALLY get a doll that looked like me! I could use it to help find what styles I look good in, what kind of make up looks best, good hair styles, and other stuff like that! And I could put her with any other dolls I have and feel even closer to them! Not to mention it would mean that someone out there thought the way my face looks was pretty enough to make a doll out of. I'd be ecstatic!

Sorry if any of that sounds shallow or self absorbed... I don't mean to come off that way... :sweat

    14. I think it would be very cool if the face looked like me, but not the body. I would want a slimmer shape. It would be fun to choose clothes and shoes for her

    15. MissKittyTwisted, you are so right! That was my first thought!

    16. When I was a kid, I looked a lot like DC Bella. It's funny to me that she's so popular, because I was considered overly serious-looking as a child. Nice to know that not everyone thinks kids all need to look sweet and smiley.

    17. I would love to have a doll looking similar to me, as long it wasn't too realistic... I mean, BJDs are so beautiful and might help me feel so too. :)

Also, it would be really cute to do matching clothes.

    18. It'd be a pretty chubby doll, haha! I can't see people wanting to buy it, but maybe. It'd be hard to sculpt, too, since I tend to be a genetic overachiever in the bust area. But I'd buy a doll that looked like me, even if I were the only one to do so. Just to say I had it.

    19. If a doll looked like me, I would be genuinely creeped out. I would wonder who in the heck would know what I look like and how they could come up with such an idea! Especially since I'm not all that great looking to myself to even consider there would be a doll that looked like myself! Haha~ I don't know if I could even get it since I just think the creepy-ness would overpower my want of the doll itself. xDDD

    20. Well, I'd first be very surprised, because I'm 44.... Nobody makes a doll who has to wear underwire bras & concern herself with the advent of drooping triceps. ^^ But, say, maybe Dollstown would come out with one of their heavy-faced girls that could be done up to pass for my age. Either they or Iplehouse would be the only sculptors I can think of who'd make a woman with a nose long enough to be mine, too.

Then get a Super Gem, sand off half her butt & move her boobs downwards a few inches. :whee:

If she existed, I might buy her just for funz0rs. Vanity is a hell of a drug!
