1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How would you feel if there's a doll that look like you?

Jan 23, 2013

    1. All it would take for a doll to lok like me is something round cheeked, with vampire fangs and poorly aligned eyes :p (I have crooked eyes and "fangs")

    2. Ok, I got curious and started wandering around on the 'net looking for a place to make a little minime ball jointed doll and found a place called Diva Design. I thought it was interesting and was wondering if anybody ever heard of them.

Also Elasaid Aiden, that is one of the most awesome responses that I have read all day. :)

    3. it would be very interesting O.O

    4. I would put the head on a nice male body, because I find it hard to visualise myself in a female one. =w= I think I'd make a pretty nice-looking doll. X3

    5. I would be exceedingly surprised. I do not have a face considered modernly beautiful. Ergo, no company will be making a doll that looks like me.

    6. Oh man. I'd probably feel an absurd mixture of shock, horror, embarrassment, and a whole plethora of emotions I can't even begin to list up here. On one hand I'd be flattered that someone thinks me acceptable-looking enough to make a doll that looks like me, on the other hand I'd be terrified that something like that exists -_-

    7. I've always thought that if I were to purposely walk around with my cheeks puffed out and a permanent frown then Dollmore's Jeemin would be a dolly sized version of me. Just a younger version (and a skinnier version :P). And yes, I have considered buying her, partly because I see some rememblance and partly because I love pouty and puffy cheeked dolls a whole darn lot.

It didn't scare or shock me, I was mostly amused and was kind of excited. There have been a few dolls who resemble other people I've known and I was wondering if a mini-me would ever pop up.

    8. I think it would be too much work because I would have to mod the doll, sand off the rosacea and all the fat. A ME doll would just be too much work.

    9. I would be VERY creeped out. :sweat And then I would look at all the modifications people would do to it. OTL

    10. Yeah, me too.

I think that if there were a doll that really looked like me (aside from the baldness) I'd be really creeped out. Though, I might (and that's a big might) get one for the lulz. Anything I'd put on a doll, including wigs, I'd wear myself, so there's not much point to doing it for that reason. Except maybe to give her some big honkin' platform shoes, which tend to be cheaper in doll-size than me-size.

    11. It would probably be hard to tell if a doll looked like you though, they don't have flesh, the face up can change the whole look of the doll etc. But if there was, it would be totally weird, but cool.

    12. OMG people started making fat dollies!

    13. Ehhhh? would this ever even happen? I have too many defects across my limited edition body that someone would never pay more than $300 for this defective doll Oh the faceup must have been a pain to get that appearance right. Oh i guess i might have some nice poseability? xD

    14. Meh, I see my face in the mirror every day...why would I want a tiny resin duplicate? But I would LOVE a doll that looks like my daughter! :)

    15. It would be very interesting to see 'me' with a face up (I don't wear makeup, too lazy, sigh), different eye colors, and hair styles. Who knows, I might look good as a resin bjd (only because I'd have a dolls body and not this 'vintage' one)... Humm, nah, it's better off not knowing. I can say I wouldn't want one myself, not my style, lol.

    16. It would be odd... lol but I don't think I'd mind too much. Though, whenever I bring my dolls with me, someone always has to say "Oh she looks just like you!!" ... no, no they don't lol they don't all look the same so they CAN'T all look like me.. lol

    17. I think it would be funny :)

On a similar topic, here is my doll Isobel whom I distorted a bit with photoshop to make her look human. Someone later sent me a link to a girl who looks just like her - here they both are together :

I am sure this would probably freak this girl out if she ever saw it lol.

    18. I found a doll that looks exactly like my sister, I showed it on Facebook and our family went 'that's totally her!'

    19. I would dress her up in things I would be too shy to wear. :D

    20. I would be amazed yet completely freaked out. > <

But what are the chances of that happening..? O .O
