It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How would you feel if there's a doll that look like you?

Jan 23, 2013

    1. I think it would be cool and I'd get a boy and girl version and try different things out :)

    2. wouldn't buy it, that's for sure. I don't like the idea of owning a doll that looks like me (or people I know). But creepy? not so much. The only reason I've ever be creeped out by it though was if it was a minimee head or something like that, but I don't think anyone would want a doll that was that ugly.

    3. There is a doll that I think resembles me! The dollshe Bernard. Only I am like a short female version of Bernard in tan resin with a messy faceup XD We have a similar nose and lips is all. Even so I would not mind a doll that looks like me, hopefully better.

    4. I would freak out
after freaking out for a while I'd feel bad because no one would buy her (including me)

    5. Love if there were - um let's clarify & say me at 25... I also would buy a doll that looked like either of my daughters (well I'm GOING to because IH BID Elen looks like my Biv did at 5!) I must say ANYONE really can look good given the right props/makeup/clothes - so getting a doll that resembles you then making it into the best you can be sounds like a win/win to me :D
It does bother me that so many people (not just here at DoA but everywhere) have such a bad internal image of themselves! Wow! I've SEEN models in person & TRUST me - not all that! As someone else on this thread mentioned we all are beautiful in our own ways.
Also I don't think all the dolls I own ARE beautiful in the shallow kind of sense - I love them all because they are individual sculpts w/faces I love for one reason or another & some ARE just breathtaking but I'd be bored to tears to just have nothing but lovely faces everywhere - I want some expression & individuality going on!

    6. I completely agree with this! It's sad to see so many people hating on themselves :(

    7. I seriously doubt that someone would make a doll like me, I'm pretty plain looking. :sweat

    8. Well lets see.....without giving away my age, it might be ok to see a younger version in a doll.

    9. I think that would be pretty sweet! Before getting into BJDs I was planning on making a custom mini-me Pullip. I found the perfect wig and everything (my boyfriend's jaw hit the floor when he saw how eerily close it was). Actually it would have to be a Taeyang head on a Pullip body, since I don't have that cute chubby heart-shaped face that female dolls tend to have. I've gotten out of Pullips but I do still want to make her.

I also have the habit of attempting to create myself in games that you are able to customize a character, including my body. Even hentai games. Yeah, I might be a little odd:sweat

I won't join others in saying that no one would buy a doll that looked like me, but I would find it pretty distressing to gauge how popular the sculpt was. My face is more angular than your average female doll, which I realized was pretty rare in my search for a suitable Alice: Madness Returns lookalike (although I was looking for an MSD-sized doll, which probably made the search even more difficult). That alone would pretty much guarantee it wouldn't be too popular. Also, if the face up were accurate she would certainly be on the plain side since I don't wear make up. That said, I personally think I'd look pretty hot with make up - anyone can, really - so it would be interesting to see how a more flashy face up would look!

    10. I'd firstly be a little freaked out, then I'd probably spend a bunch of time searching DoA/ the internet to see what people think, then i wouldn't come up with anything cuz no one would buy it lol. i really don't have the face for a doll, especially not a female doll. My face is WAY to square and ugly to be made into a doll people would want to buy

    11. I think my girlfriend and I had a conversation about this a while ago.
I might get one that looked like me (I'd like to think I have a reasonably pretty face) Especially with a fancy face-up.
My girlfriend would want one that looks like me more than I would, methinks.

    12. Hmmm I'd definitely be fascinated with it... in fact i could probably live out my little fantasies hehe

"oh here's little Eddy flirting with a hot girl!"
"oh here's little Eddy actually having success in school!"
"ah here's little Eddy's job promotion!"

Yes, I think i'd be obligated to get it, dont you think?

    13. I think it would be a little odd since I don't particularly like my looks and I don't think I would be worthy enough to find a sculpt that resembled me. But at the same time it would be kind of cool. I have heard that Fairyland Minifee Eliya looks exactly like me without the elf ears, though.

    14. With the right face-up, Luts' new SDF Event head would look just like me.
When my fiancee ordered my nina and claus, he got that head for free because he wants a mini-me.
I'm not sure I like that though. :sweat

    15. I would wonder if I just walked into the twilight zone or outer limits. Other then that I do not know.

    16. I dont think I am ugly, but I think owning a doll of yourself, or that looked a lot like you would be weird and make you seem a little self absorbed.

    17. I think it would be cool and I would get it! I'd try all the stuff on her that I am chicken to do to myself!!

    18. I think having a doll that looks like you would be unavoidable because there are so many sculpts and so many different looks and styles that can go with the way you look. Most likely, there is a doll right now that looks just like you

    19. That would be one hell of a doll. :I

I wouldn't pay for a doll that looked like me. :I I have enough of myself to look at and deal with on a regular basis. xD

    20. I would love to find one, and if the price wasn't too out there I'd definately buy it.
In fact, I might get two, and make it a male to freak my brother out (we look alike, except being different genders). I have a funny feeling I'd need to do the opposite to get a "me" doll though, apparently I have a slightly masculine face :|
