1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

How would you feel if there's a doll that look like you?

Jan 23, 2013

    1. I wouldn't really care if a doll head looked like me or not. Unless someone decided to get in my face and go "Hey, this looks like you!!!!1!!!!!!111" (ones inserted to emphasize the annoyingness factor of having someone in my face telling me a doll looked like me). Then I would be mildly annoyed, but not at the doll. to be honest, I am terrible at recognizing and memorizing faces anyway, so even if a sculpt looked like me, I might not recognize it as such!

    2. I don't think I would mind terribly much? Actually that would be kinda cool...

    3. I don't like seeing myself 2 dimensional in pictures; so I would definitely hate seeing a 3 dimensional me!

    4. I would love that, I'd really want that doll haha it would be pretty neat :)

    5. I think that would creep me out

    6. There are plenty of dolls with my hairstyle (long brown hair and bangs) but I wouldn't want a doll that looked like me as my large nose would not translate well to a BJD by any means. XD As much as some people try to look like dolls, I don't think many people have the type of features that are as petite and cute as most BJD's.

    7. There are actually lots of dolls that look like skinny versions of me (with better skin, of course), I look like an obese Bobobie (RS?) Yun with freckles.

    8. I am not sure how I would react, most likely I would be rather surprised.

Would i buy the doll, most likely not, as I would find it slightly odd.

    9. I'd totally buy it without second thought if it was in my price range :D
haha, I don't think anyone would make a doll out of me as I'm not that pretty (I'm just average) but if there was then YES!
It'd be like having a mini me or a doll alter-ego so when I play with my other dolls, I can pretend that I'm in the picture :p

    10. This!

I think it would be pretty awesome to have a bjd that looks like me!

    11. I tend to get the 'it looks like you!' response when I show people dolls. I'm incredibly pale with a fairly 'stylized' face (big eyes, upturned nose, small mouth) and dark hair with a straight across fringe. I'm also very slim with big hips. The only thing is I'm also 6 feet tall so a doll of me would be like 70cms... :)

I think it'd be cool if there was a doll like me. My mum would probably buy it >.< And my ex. So he could cry over it and stare at it creepily.

    12. LOL. last time i bring my doll to my friend's home, she said i feel your doll face is look like your face. i said really, but feel very happy...:sweat i think because when we have the same style on the make up and clothes. so we look same.

    13. I'm sure I'd like to buy it! It would be funny )))

    14. I would order it immediately X>

    15. In theory, it sounds pretty neat, probably because it will never happen. I don't have the idealized features for my ethnicity. Buuut going with that train of thought, what happens after it comes home and stares at me from a shelf? I would be creeped out. :sweat:lol:

    16. i would not like a doll that would like me O.O would be creepy. would not sell well anyways!!

    17. I saw a WIP from a doll artist I love that has my nose! It made me LOL. Even my friends were like, "You should get her! She actually has a nose!" (You could say I'm somewhat opposite of a Dollfie Dream Dynamite in the nose and boob department...) She's a fantasy faerie thing, but she could be me if I were a Brian Froud creature. I want her but she's not in the realm of possibility right now.

    18. Honestly, I think it'd be pretty neat. Both my grandmas collect dolls, and when I was born they both felt the need to gather dolls with blue eyes and white-blonde hair (I had those features as a baby). Some of them kind of looked like me when I was a baby, but mostly not. When I make the effort to wear makeup, people sometimes comment that I still look like a doll. I've always wondered if there were a doll that was sculpted to look like my face, and if so how close I could get to making it actually look like myself. If there were one, I would do my best to get it.

    19. I would think a doll that looked like me, would sell, but I wouldn't want it to, they can look at the doll I with no clothes on*_*, and ha creeps me out. So if there was a doll for me it stays at my house forever :)

    20. I was interested in this thread because I would like to start sculpting heads for BJD look like existing actors/actresses....I went to the link of doll place that provide portrait doll head service (Diva Design) but looks like quite dolled up, flattering version of a portrait I thought.

As for the question, would I get a doll looking like me. I actually have made a small statue of myself one time. I ended up giving it to a kid, I know. It became a target for BB gun shooting.
