Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. How would you feel if there's a doll that look like you?

Jan 23, 2013

    1. I would think it was super cool and probably show off the company photos to my friends (and twin sister) but I doubt I would buy it. I don't really need a mini triplet and I wouldn't be able to give it it's own characteristic because of the similarities.

    2. There's a company in Europe that can make a little 3-D figure of you that looks very lifelike. They use 3D print technology (which is amazing and very sci-fi, BTW!)
I wouldn't want a little mini-me on my desk, but I can kind of imagine having figures of my loved ones lounging around my keyboard and monitor!

    3. If it was me, I would be interested :) perhaps I would be hooked on making the doll a 100% me, making same clothes like I have, surrounding her with the same things..
But if it was another real-life person I know well, I would be afraid to own such a doll. Although it's a superstition, I would still feel uncomfortable thinking that whatever happens to this doll, it might happen to the real person too.

    4. I had a funny thing happen with my Soom Hati. I was completely in love with the sculpt (she was one of my grail dolls), but when I showed her to my mother, she wasn't that keen on her (no dislike, just kind of 'meh'). Then, when I finally brought my Hati home, I put her in a wig that's a similar colour and style to my own hair, and suddenly my mother was completely in love with her. When I asked why, she told me it's because Hati (with the right hairstyle, apparently) reminds her of me when I was little! :XD:

Personally, I might buy a doll that looked like me, as long as it was stylalised to fit in with other dolls (which would mostly mean 'larger eyes', since BJDs tend to have disproportionally large eyes). I don't mind having unusual features in my doll collection, and I don't think I'm ugly or plain looking. A doll that looked like me might actually garner a small amount of popularity, since I have a very mild Roman nose, and I've seen multiple people saying they'd love a doll with that feature!

    5. There have been a few dolls I have seem that kind of remind me of myself in looks. I think its really cool and one fo them I almost bought but I didn't have the funds for her at the time... made me sad she ended up being sold two other times but I think she found a good home with a gal I follow so I will still be able to see pictures of her ^^

    6. My reaction would be as follows:

"UM. Shut up and take my money!"

Hahaha, but actually, I'd only want one if it was a cute tiny that had a striking resemblance to me. And it just so happens... there is one! Puki Mary is pretty much my inner BJD. I first noticed her in 2008 and I've joked around about getting her ever since. I wish Fairyland would make a pukifee sized Mary... then I'd have no excuse not to have her!

All joking aside, my face does not have the proper proportions for a BJD in a realistic sense. And, not fishin' for sympathy here but, I have a face made for sitting behind a computer screen. A stylized Koka, however, would be SO awesome to have at my desk at work!

    7. I'd be teetering between flattered and a bit scared that someone knew my face well enough to carve one. o.o I might want her though, so I could make her into a little mini-me.

    8. I'm pretty ambivalent about such things. I mean, I'd never own one. That would be kind of vain. But I certainly wouldn't care that much if there was a doll out there that looked like me. It's kind of weird if someone I know owns it and does stuff with it. Then I don't like the idea so much.
Of someone I know? Well, I wouldn't mind that at all. I'd have a doll of some of the people I know for sure. That's be cool :)

    9. I would so buy a doll hat looks like me. I like myself a lot, though I know that I am not perfect, but really, that would be an awesome doll. The idea makes me want to sculpt one that looks like me.

    10. I would love if they made a doll that looked like me. I fear it might not be popular though. My Czech heritage blasts very strongly through my face and I have the heavy old world painting eyes. I would have been pretty centuries ago, but now I look weird and outdated. XD

i'll just have to become famous so DIM will make me a doll :D

Lol I just saw your post. I think imaginary dolls of us would be super weird...but maybe actually a lot cuter as a twin set.

    11. I think it would be pretty cool .. as long as it was flattering version. :) My mom actually has a couple of toddler type dolls that look like me when I was that age and her favorite face-ups on adult dolls always seem to be those that resemble me now. That gives me an idea ... maybe I'll find a sculpt relatively close and have the face-up customized to look like me! ... mother's day gift! ;)

    12. I do not think I would like a doll of my self, I don't think I look pretty enough to be a sellable doll :P

    13. If there anyone want to make a doll look like me, I have to say to that person to think twice. I don't a doll look like me will be selling, unless a lot of improvisation is made.
Maybe it's cute though, but not sure other people like a doll that look like my plain ordinary face :sweat

    14. This! I would LOVE a doll that looks like me! :D It'd be interesting to see a doll with a resin tone that matched my skin, too. She'd wear everything I can't and would have all the crazy things I want to do to my hair but can't! XD

    15. I have a "traditional" doll with a stuffed cloth body and rubber head, legs and arms, intended to be a young lady and not a baby or a little girl, that looks a lot like me, even if stylized, and I find it funny, not creepy. But I don't know I'll feel the same with something with more realistic features, and the idea of someone playing with dolls that clearly resembles me... well, that's really disturbing ^_^'''

    16. I think it be creepy to look at a doll who looks like me. I mean having similarities (hair, style, ect) can be neat but I couldn't imagine looking at all the mods and fashions given to the doll by other owners.

    17. I'd go paranoid and ask the company where they got the inspiration from... other than that... I don't hate my looks, but a doll that looks like me would creep me out.

    18. I would be jealous, and I would cut a bald patch of her hair out mwah hah hah *evil laughter*...then I would walk away singing my favorite Sesame Street Song "there is only one me, smartest me there can be"...

    19. I think if I found a doll that was similar to me it'd be neat. It might be rather unexceptional, but I'd get it for the novelty sake. XD

    20. I would buy it instantly!~ I'd love to have a little mini me, I think it'd be great :D I'm not sure what I would name her though...
