1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. How you got started

Apr 5, 2010

    1. How did you first learn about BJDs? What was your initial reaction?
~I was looking at a picture of a Lolita holding one. I thought they were so beautiful and realistic looking. I was a little taken back by the price though...
What drew you to pick up the hobby?
~The fact that I love Lolita things, and the gorgeousness of the dolls themselves!
How has your view of dolls and the hobby changed since then?
~Now I don't care about the price I want one!

    2. How did you first learn about BJDs? What was your initial reaction?
Well, I had always been into anime and the like, having grown up in Japan when I was younger I'm subconsciously drawn to Japanese and general Asian culture. Then one day my best friend was texting me, talking about seeing beautiful "dollfies" online... I got curious, and looked them up... At first, I was a a fangirl from the sidelines, with a "look but don't touch" attitude. I did eventually learn that they were quite pricey, and without knowing a thing about them I Google searched "BJD for cheap" for which I feel somewhat guilty and ashamed.
What drew you to pick up the hobby?
A number of things. First of all, like many others I was Asia obsessed before I was BJD obsessed, and BJDs just fit into that so well... Second of all, I'm an artist of several varieties. I write, take photos, draw, and sew, and BJDs are wonderfully useful for all of those things. And third... About say a year ago, before I knew BJDs existed, I started a line of drawings and prose titled "Marionette Avant de Degout" which is Crap!French for "Disgusting Puppet" The Puppets had joints that were eerily similar to BJDs and they had interchangeable/removable parts, and they were life-sized and could move on their own... What they did was put on shows in a theater, the shows involved everything horror&macabre, lots of blood and gore and controversial themes, all that rot... Well, when I found BJDs, it completely ripped open my view of the Marionettes and I began drawing heavy inspiration from the world of BJD, its themes and possibilites... That was really the deciding factor, and I concluded that I must have these things that are so perfect for my beloved Puppets. At that point, I began some intensive research, every single day looking at everything related to BJD I could possibly find on the internet, until I had an okay knowledge, and then I began preparing my "Why I want an expensive doll" speech for my parents. The rest, they say, is history.
How has your view of dolls and the hobby changed since then?
I've learned an awful lot since first seeing them, but I always kind of understood their appeal and purposes from the very first day...

    3. How did you first learn about BJDs? What was your initial reaction?
For the first time I saw BJD photos online about 4 or 5 years ago. I thought that they look very beautiful and almost alive.
Then I found the only Dollzone site and could not understand how to order from there T_T
What drew you to pick up the hobby?
Last year at an anime convention, I saw an exhibition of BJD-dolls. The doll's owners in detail told me about the BJD, opportunities for customization At the end one of the girls gave me to hold her doll * __ * A month later, I got to the store where sell BJD just to see them, but one of the boys was so cute and so miserable ... I could not leave it there and bought it. It was a sudden decision, but I do not regret it and love him very much.
How has your view of dolls and the hobby changed since then?
Over the past year I learned how to re-string them, and loved to sew clothes for them. (I hated to sew before!), And such everyday things as changing the eyes, wig, or a change of feet on the hoof does not scare me anymore.
