1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

I feel so alone with out a doll! Did you?

Jul 1, 2014

    1. Yes, I did. I mean, I registered in DOA before I even purchased a doll, and was super lost because I didn't understand what everyone else was talking about, was scared that I'd offend someone unknowingly (still am, actually), and just felt out of place because I didn't own a doll. Learning the ropes and going through all the information that was available was really difficult too, and I just had so many questions that I didn't know whom to ask. After getting my first doll, though, it's become a bit better in that I actually PM people out of the blue now and hope that I don't accidentally offend them. Though I have to admit the learning curve was really steep at first, like a formidable wall!

    2. I joined DoA about 4 years before I got my first (and so far still only) BJD, it made me feel a little impatient but not sad or lonely or bad in any way, looking at the dolls and interacting with the people here was great and I learned a lot while I saved up.
But having a BJD does allow you to participate in certain things that you cannot do without one such as posting photos and experiences you've had with your doll.

I think I understand how you feel but don't feel lonely, there's lots of people here that enjoy talking about future dolly plans.

    3. I already had dolls before I joined, so I suppose I wouldn't know. But I don't want you to feel alone. Buying a doll is a big expense and everyone understands why you would have to wait for the right time. I certainly waited a long time before finally taking the plunge.

    4. I'm currently a member that doesn't even own their first doll yet. When most of the threads are aimed towards owners who are already in possession of a doll, it's a bit difficult for me to join the thread when I have nothing to say. But, it doesn't cause me any loneliness. Even though I don't own a doll, I enjoy reading the threads and discovering new information about the hobby. :)

    5. I also dont own a bjd yet (although I own an obitsu). But, I like to read the threads, learn more about different dolls, and doll companies. I hope that learning what I learn here I will be able to use to pick the right doll for myself. Also, it feels good to see other members show their dolls when they receive them.

    6. I don't have a BJD either, still doing lots of research as its a big decision! Due to the price, I don't see myself getting many of these. I would love to go to a convention to see them in person but checked and the one in my area isn't until June. Reading on this forum I think does cause you to want to get a doll more and more if you don't have one already.

    7. I didn't own a BJD for a few months after I joined DoA - actually, it was talking to DoA members that helped me figure out what kind of dolls were available and how to get them. Members tolerated my jumping from doll to doll to be my first, and gave me advice all along the way. And when my first doll finally did arrive, I had a whole forum to celebrate with me! I personally was glad that I joined DoA before I got my first doll, because I like to know what most of my options are before choosing just one. There are a lot more resources available now, but I still think forum membership is beneficial to people who don't have a doll yet.

That said, I was really jealous of people who already had a doll - or more than one, even! But I don't know if I really felt lonely - I was learning so much so quickly that I just didn't have time for it! Plus everyone was more than happy to share their doll pictures and advice with me, so I felt really included even though I didn't even know what kind of doll I wanted.

    8. I don't really feel alone because I am always planning and pre-shopping for my dolls that are coming soon ^_^

    9. I didn't feel alone before getting my dolls, but I think I would if I lost them now. They're great company and I hope you get yours soon!
