1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

ideas for reworking the doll list on my profile??...

Jul 2, 2021

    1. My doll list is such a meandering mess... this morning I thought I might rearrange it by height, tallest to smallest. If I don't miss any doll this list will be over 70 long now. I have this idea (more of a "it would be all right" idea instead of a goal) to have 100 dolls by the time I am 100 (an age most of the women in my family get to) Lately I feel that I am in a rush to get to 100... many new dolls to add to my doll list this year.

I really like the idea of having this list up to date,

I saw one person's list included dolls that were no longer in their care. I like that idea.

Some people's lists are organized by the stories they are part of. I like that (tho I don't have stories)

Do you have other ideas for organizing a doll list?

    2. I organize my doll list by the order in which I received them. Which, let me tell you, was difficult as heck to figure out ten dolls into the hobby AND after taking a three year hiatus... And what was the worst part was that I didn't even remember what some of my sculpts were at one point :XD: But once I figured everything out, from sculpt to receiving order, I felt very satisfied about everything. Plus it's really easy to just toss whatever new doll I get to the bottom of the list at this point.

I do have a second mini list for my "On the way" dolls, but they are in order of when the order was placed/layaway started, and get removed from this list then added to the bottom of the main list once they arrive to my doorstep.

I don't keep my sold dolls on any list. They are no longer in my hands so why keep track of them as if they were. Not that anyone keeping a list of their dolls is weird, for them. I just don't care to do it.

    3. Mine goes roughly from biggest to smallest (in some sections it's oldest to youngest within that height grouping as most of my SD sized BJD are one big extended Victorian/Edwardian family of children)

EDITED TO ADD: There's a small section of "in-the-pipeline" dolls at the bottom of the list (also in order of size) that I just realized was out of date, so have updated, moving some of them onto the finished doll list (although one of them is on a temporary/borrowed body but has already been named and has a bit of character background) and andding more onto the in-the-pipeline list.

      EDITED FURTHER TO ADD:
I don't organise tham by maker company because it's not really important to me, and many of them are hybrids anyway so whould they go under the maker of the head or the maker of the body.
I list their full name/the variant of it they answer to then (in brackets) put the head sculpt/body make&type for each of them, more as a reminder for me because I wouldn't remember the sculpt (and possibly company) details without somewhere to refer to.

    4. I did my list by makers. If I had multiple sizes from one maker, I did the largest sizes first. If I could figure out how to make a table instead, I would. Only because the more dolls I get, the longer my profile gets haha.

    5. Mine is in alphabetical order by character’s first name. I write that in all caps, followed by the company, then sculpt, then gender symbol. If the doll is ordered but not home, they get an asterisk at the end:

      -AMIR: Angel of Dream Chen♂
      -COOPER: Migidoll Cynical Yujin ♂
      -GORDONNA: ResinSoul Dai♀*
      -HARRIET: OfButterfliesNThings Paulette♀
      -LILY: Notdoll Lab Belladonna♀
-MARCI: Angel of Dream ZiXi ♀
      -MARLEY: Impldoll Aigne♀
      -OPALINE: ResinSoul Mi♀
      -PEPPER: Dolkot Bera♀
      -QUILLON: Soom Io♂
-SIXX: Dollshe Amanda Beauty/ALM Doll body⚥
      -TWYLA: Impldoll Alisa♀*
      -ZOEY: Bambicrony Bellezza Esther♀

    6. I personally have them organized by stories, because it makes sense since they are vastly differently looking and it's easier for both me and others that way.

I just checked your profile, and you've already sorted them by company. That would have been my first idea too.
Big groups combined under one company, and everything you have less than three of from a company I would just put into one "Assorted" category. If you have many assorted ones, but in different sizes, you could split it apart there further: Assorted SD, Assorted MSD for example.
I would also skip/not specifically mention hybrids, most people go by head unless the body really makes a difference (like a very specific fantasy type body, like a centaur body). Just use the head to categorize and omit the other information.

Also skipping any extra comments (waiting for), skintones and the like unless you have more than one (XY - Luts Delf El NS, ZZ - Luts Delf El WS).

      In short:
      - Combine in groups by company
      - Companies you have less than three of, toss them into an "Assorted" category (which maybe can be split up by size, if need be)
      - Information given should be kept to an easily digestible minimum and in list format (Company, head sculpt, maybe name you have given)
      - No rambling, make sure it always is listed the same way to make it look cohesive
Think that's the best way to tackle such a big group

If you want to keep the ones that moved out, I would just add a category at the bottom.
"Moved on", or something like that, and just list them all there as one long list.

    7. Same as @jessholy
I would definitely list them by makers and then by height inside the maker groups, using some kind of organizer app/website that offers to separate entries by groups/subgroups. I personally use a diary app DayOne. I created a separate journal for the Doll profiles. The app allows adding hashtags to the entry so I can mark the doll profile with a hashtag of the maker/size/gender/whatever I want to mark them and then sort by the hashtags if needed. It's rather convenient to use.

I can also recommend Trello-like things.

    8. I organize by stories, and that works for me, because every doll I have is supposed to be a character, but maybe if you have dolls with similar themes, you could group them that way for a similar effect, kind of like right now, I have the "vampire shelf" that's characters from different stories with a similar aesthetic.

By size is a cool option, like you mentioned, where people had dolls grouped with headers like "70+" and "SD" "MSD" etc, which I also see the appeal of (I only do Sd and 70+, so that would be less effective for me, but would work nicely for people with a more diverse collection--it might also be hard to know where to put hybrids, because that can affect height).

For people who collect a lot from particular companies, that can be a nice way to organize dolls--I've seen people do that a lot, have categories for companies they frequent, and then a miscellaneous section--again works better when you don't have hybrids who'd fall into two of the categories, but grouping hybrids in their own section could help that.

I'm a chronic revolving door seller (I say of myself, affectionately), so I don't do a list of sold dolls, but I do think it could be cool!

    9. I see my doll profile as a useful tool for me, so I can keep track of my dolls, and for other people who might be looking for someone who owns X doll, or body, or even a specific combo. Also for trades....back when I was more active in selling and trading (instead of just buying lol) I would ALWAYS look at someone's profile before offering a trade. If they did not have dolls that made me think they'd accept my offer, I wouldn't bother offering.

So for these reasons I organize mine by company (generally in order of appearance, but not always), then scale (1/3 first, then 1/4 and 1/6 if I have them)...until I get to the ones I only own one of and they're listed in the order I bought them (or put them together and made them a doll). Then pets and projects because I don't tend to count them in my number of actual dolls.

I do mention hybrids, because the way I personally use profiles, I see it as information that's useful to other people.

I don't list my character names because I assume if people are looking at my profile list it's to see what dolls I own, not my names for them.
I don't list floating heads unless I intend to get them bodies someday - then they go in projects
I don't list the blank dolls or bodies in my body drawer either, they don't count unless they have a plan.
I don't list dolls I've sold, there's not enough room.
I don't generally list gender, unless it's unexpected like my RD Senkai, generally a male sculpt, on a Dollmore Model F body.
I don't bother with resin color because it gets confusing with so many companies calling their resins different names, and I have so many hybrids and some are like, WS on NS bodies and it's too many extra words and letters.

so my profile looks like this
      DOLLMORE
      Kara Klum
      Cold Heartbroken Kara Klum LE15
Cold Heartbroken Thinking Kara Klum LE15
Cold Heartbroken Kara Klum LE/Doll Chateau Y-03
      Lilis Liv
      Eva Louise/Impldoll
      U-jee

      RINGDOLL
      Norman Dark/Dollshe Pure
      K x7 /Dollmore Glamor Model
      Mona/Aya/Alice99/Zaoll
      Raven/Dollshe Classic
      Norman/Dollstown 17
      Nair
Kay - extreme mod/Dollmore Glamor Model body
      Senkai/Dollmore Model F
      Aooni/Dollmore
      White Rabbit fullset

Then repeats with the next company.

The / in the name is the "hybrid" indicator. Eva Louise is the head, Impldoll is the body. I always do head first. Some of them have more than one head (Mona/Aya/Alice99/Zaoll, K x7 /Dollmore Glamor Model) - heads all get listed, then body.
I also like this, because I don't have to repeat "Dollmore" or "ringdoll" 57 times before the each head sculpt and I can actually fit my whole list in the profile lol The less words the better!

Ugh my profile is out of date as of a couple weeks ago, I have to fix it now.

    10. I list by company. I like having them grouped this way because while I love diversity, I’m also fascinated by the fact that I’m drawn to the style of sculpts from certain manufacturers. I list with the company name first “Luts Senior65 Delf limited Elf Storm” and then their name. This makes for a nice, neat look. With a space skipped between companies, it makes it really easy to read at a glance. Those companies I only have a single doll from are added at the end with a space between each one to keep them distinct from one another. And at the very bottom I have a “Layaway” category for any layaway I might have currently, with the company, sculpt, possible name and payments already made. This is how I keep track of my collection.:)

    11. Thank you everyone, lots of nice lists to inspire me. @Teddy I got a chuckle from "The RealPuki Clan"

I think I can get a good start by working on the Doll Chateau clan. here I go...

    12. Ah, I've been struggling with this myself. I used to have them listed by order I acquired them in...but the list got so unwieldy it made me stressed when I looked at it. I deleted it, meaning to tidy it up and re-post it.........but then I never did...though I tried a few times.
      Maybe I should try again.......

    13. I have mine organized by size. My setup goes:
NAME · Company Sculpt (or hybrid)
Then I have smaller lists below of floating heads, spare bodies, incoming, and miscellaneous. Once a doll arrives to the new owner, I remove it from the leaving soon section. Used to have it more organized by company with more info on each doll such as faceup, color, etc but there is a character limit and I once hit it! My wishlist is already about at that limit so I keep having to change it around. Granted my wishlist is super long.

    14. I suppose this is more a question for people with many dolls. I do mine like this, in order of arrival:

      Doll Name
[company head/company body “silly descriptive character title”]

If I keep on this fashion I guess I’ll eventually run out of room for this format, but I like it for now.

    15. I currently have my profile doll list in order of arrival, but as it's now 25 dolls long, I should find a way to group them. I also have my dolls and those on my wish list on AIrtable, so I can keep track of all the info that goes with each of them, as its far more than I put in my profile.

    16. This morning I looked up from my computer to see Dollzone Big Brother hanging above me and realized he wasn't on the list...which now shows that I am one body shy of 100 dolls... a good place to pause I think (actually it has been a recurring nudge in me to slow down, and why do I think I must own every doll that I love...) sometimes times 3...

I went with by company and alphabetical, and only with Doll Chateau did I separate into sizes. Happy for now. By this time next year I would like to know the name of all these folk, and I hope I am still one body shy of 100. My list includes dolls that are coming (marked with a * - thank you @CloakedSchemer ) and dolls that are in pieces to be painted or otherwise manipulated...

Other wishes would be to start imagining stories and to find a bit more order and clean spaces among the chaos of my studio...

again, thank you all for suggestions. peaceful and not too hot summer wishes, mare
