1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If not Alice In Wonderland, what story would you like to see sculpts for?

Aug 5, 2014

    1. Hah, Thumbalina would be so cute!

    2. Oh there is loads of story ideas…I guess I really would like to see The Nutcracker, The Six Swans, Arthurian Legends or being a huge fan of anthro bjds I would love to see The Red Wall series.

    3. Oh, Yes! Absolute agree! My favourite books from the past :D

    4. *0* Ooh! I'm just imagining a Skeskis & Uru dolls! :aheartbea I would love to see some Froud-like faeries & other creatures too.

    5. I would love to see Game of Thrones, Vikings and Anne of Green Gables.

    6. The Six Swans would be a good one, and other tales from the Grimms brothers, or even one of the fairytales written by Wilde.

And yes, characters from classic literature. I would love very much to see a girl doll based on Austen's Northanger Abbey's main character: Catherine Morland (I've always had a soft spot for her).

    7. I would love to see dolls from The Last Unicorn. All the characters in that would be fascinating to see as dolls, including the red bull and the unicorn. I'd especially love to see a company's take on Celaeno, the harpy captured by Mommy Fortuna.

    8. I second (or fourth, or sixth) the Gormenghast suggestion. Those characters in the hands of Doll Chateau would be ah-may-zing.

    9. I completely agree on that

    10. I think we need to dive more into the tales of Norse mythology, though away from the popular characters Odin, Thor and Loki.
Try a few characters like Fenrir, Fafnir, Jormungandr just to name a few~

    11. I'd love to see more Grimm Fairytales done, especially the Six Swans. I'd particularly love to see what Doll Chateau would do with the brother left with a wing for one arm.

    12. Nightmare before christmas. It would be very interesting dolls I think :)

    13. Frozen... I'd love an Elsa BJD :)

    14. I would love to see sculpts based on the characters from The Twelve Kingdoms!

    15. Many of the full-set dolls I have are Alice in Wonderland themed. Not because I enjoy Alice in Wonderland, or even the full-sets... I wanted the doll, and that was the full-set that it came with! (Seriously!)

I'd like to see more 'modern day' sets. Perhaps building their own mythology within the company? I know some bands in Japan/S.Korea do that -- make up origin stories of fantastical origin for their band members. :D Why not make full-sets based on stories they create in-house? I know companies do this, but they never push it as far as it can go.

Maybe have dolls that belong in bands, and their fullset could include a carrier/storage box that is in the shape of a guitar case, and they can have instruments and the like. They can do the same thing for School Clubs and Sports, etc. You know... full-sets we'd actually use, as opposed to seal away to be sold later...?

Also, I would love to see a take on princesses and other fairytales. I'm a girl who really digs strong female characters, and I've long since daydreamed of making a collection based on princesses from fairytales and the like. I can understand the hesitancy to do so, especially with certain Big Companies monopolizing the princess franchise, but there can be creative twists on doll-company versions... for example:
"Modern Day" takes on fairytale creatures, heroes, and heroines.
Switching roles -- maybe it's the princess who wakes a sleeping prince* or maybe Beauty IS the beast!
Adapting the stories more into different cultures, etc.
They could do this with Alice in Wonderland and it'd be so refreshing!
Not only that, but there are so many heroes/heroines from fairytales that have not been touched by Big Companies, such as Irene and Curdie from Princess and the Goblin.
(Luts has been doing something along those lines. They're releasing their TDFs with names from past fairytales and fictions, though there hasn't been much in the way of full-sets representing those fairytales.)

I feel like there are a lot of themes companies are missing out on. They're so creative, but they're missing out by not taking risks. Why not Zodiac Signs? Why not the different types of Magical Girls? Why not release a "shoujo manga" set, complete with a short comic of the two dolls?

*I'm actually writing a book based on this concept, and I'd love to see the dolls they'd make for something like that. >_>

    16. I'd love to see Lord of the Rings dolls (elves *swoon* :love) or Star Wars dolls.

I'd love this as well! I think Once Upon a Time dolls would be so cool (Captain Hook please!)

    17. I liked when Volks had those Disney themed dolls Rapunzel and Jack Skellington.

    18. The Wizard of Oz, for certain!

    19. One I can think of, that I'd enjoy seeing, would be a "Universal Monsters" sort of theme. Werewolf, mummy, Dracula, Phantom of the Opera, Creature from the Black Lagoon... even if they were done up "handsome," they'd still be some interesting sculpts or fullsets. (Maybe I have Halloween on the brain right now?)

    20. Rapunzel,Game of Thrones. I really would like Daenerys!
