1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If not Alice In Wonderland, what story would you like to see sculpts for?

Aug 5, 2014

    1. Frozen, I'd definitely want to see an Anna and Elsa BJD.
It'd also be interesting to see Wicked and the Phantom of the Opera dolls.:)

    2. The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. I just love seeing elegant dolls and this tale would be a good way to use royalty, poverty, and yokai and dragons in the theme.

    3. Snow White & Rose Red :aheartbea

    4. A Wrinkle In Time. I was debating dressing one of my Pukifees as Mrs. Whatsit for Halloween, but I just didn't have time to try to put an outfit together.

Edit - I second the Wizard of Oz characters. I'd love to see Ozma, Scraps, Polychrome and the Glass Cat. And Billina the hen!

    5. YES!!! a thousand times yes to this suggestion!!

    6. Krabat.... Especially the Master. Not sure if I want the Ottfried PreuรŸler version (as the girlfriend is not killed by the master, the darker the better!) so I might want a more traditonal version.

    7. A Narnia series would be amazing, I totally agree! Mr Tumnus would be the cutest doll ever.

    8. I'd love a Little Mermaid arc done by Volks. That would be a dream!!!

    9. Any of the Miyazaki movies. Any of them. Mostly either Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle. But any of the others are good too.

    10. YES TO THIS ^

    11. Wizard of oz would be fun! c:

    12. Amen and Amen again.

    13. Somebody said Neil Gaiman's Sandman. That would be cool.

Also, folklore. LOTS of folklore! Not just Greek and Asian - Worldwide.

Oh and some urban legends would be nice.

    14. I think dolls based off Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles would be great. I'd love an Auri doll. Bast would be awesome as well.

    15. There are a million works of literature that would make amazing stories to style BJD by, wow, they have already chosen some of the most loved: Alice in Wonderland, and by that strain: Oz Chronicles, though I think there is more that can be done there with all the stories associated with that one. I think that both Brothers Grimm's and Hans Christian Andersen's tales need more attention than what we have had so far, with some more attention paid to the details of those works to do some more creative work on each story and character.

I think Miyazaki was a good suggestion, but also, I believe maybe the stories he focuses on at least would be great subjects, maybe even some sort of world view on fairytales, indigenous to different regions as a series. Shakespeare would be an amazing subject, so many great stories there, some with enough fantasy to really be interesting, also some amazing style choice possibilities.

I'm a little afraid to approach a hope for any newer publications of the last 100 years simply because you have so many copyright issues with new authors, money would be insane, and with many dolls, there would be so little hope for originality with all the portrayals by actual people, meaning the option of replicas would be a notion too inviting which for the most part I think doesn't turn out well. Also, these stories are in the height of their popularity with readers, and I think I'd prefer to see some creative minds from that side of the hobby do different takes on each character personified into our hobby.

    16. New realise of Rozen Maiden would be great

    17. Heck yeah Cthulhu!

    18. The Little Prince! I would love to see a sculpt of the Little Prince himself, and an anthro sculpt of the fox would be wonderful!

    19. I agree with Vetinari, I would love to see Terri Pratchett's Disc world characters. I'd kill for a Esmerelda Weatherwax doll.

Star Trek dolls are a, er, pardon the pun, stellar idea.

Or a Jillie Coppercorn doll from Charles De Lint's Newford series....

Ooooooooh! Lord of the Rings, oh, PLEASE! With the appropriate costumes....YEEEEEEESSSSSSSS, my preciousssssss!

    20. I would fully support this, both because the characters and book are awesome, and because Rothfuss would likely actually approve of it (unlike many of these ideas, which would have to be going back to public domain source material or otherwise sliding "under the radar").
