1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If you could go back in time...

Jul 6, 2008

    1. The only thing I would do is get an Elf Shiwoo (Delf size). I was new to the hobby and thought the last 4 dolls would take a while to sell. They didn't :( I would however, not change a thing about my dolls that I have now. I have never sold a doll that I have bought. So I am very happy with my choices. I still would not be able to afford a Bermann even if I had the chance so it was not to be in my destiny... Oh well need to invest in that money tree as well as a time machine.

    2. Uhm..If I could go back in time.. I would've been in this hobby a lot longer. I originally found out about BJDs about 4 years ago. But seeing the price, I just thought..They were nice, but nothing I'd ever be able to get into. So I immediately forgot about them. The summer following was in between my sophomore and junior year.. I worked full time making $8 and hour. And the summer after that, full time making $10... I made a pretty damn good amount of money for still being in high school. Hell, it's better than what I make now as a college student! But I spent almost all of the money on clothes and things..Most of which I don't even wear/use now. But at the time I had the money, BJDs weren't in mind.. They were forgotten about. So if I could go back in time.. All that money I frivolously spent..Would've been put towards this hobby. And I wouldn't just now be getting into it. (Hope to be finally purchasing my first doll soon..But haven't been able to yet.)

    3. Hope you will get that chance soon hellokelsoe =)
on the topic: I do not think I would have done anything differently, I am well pleased with them I have today (aside from one) and for the choices I made.

    4. If I could go back in time, I definitely would have looked at more companies and actually figured out what my tastes were before buying one. Granted, I did spent quite a while researching, but my knowledge of molds and such was confined within a few companies. It definitely would have allowed me to get dolls that I could actually become attached to rather than ones that were going to inevitably leave anyway. By now (almost two years later OTL) I've had two sculpts (practically polar opposites) sit on my shelf one after the other and end up on the marketplace, but hey, I've figured out what I don't like and which sculpts/companies I really love (of which none of the companies I first learned about belong. Ironically, I've found myself leaning towards company styles I used to hate -cough-volks-cough-), but it might've happened sooner if I hadn't let dolls that didn't belong with me dampen my interest in the hobby. It would've saved a lot of trouble ^^'

    5. If I could go back in time, I'd have begged my mother for a Wishel. I graduated high school that year, and Wishels weren't too terribly expensive. The little Wishel would've made a fabulous graduation gift. I also thought Angelheim would be around forever; if I'd known they were going to fold I'd have snapped up a Luka. For the most part though, I have no regrets.

    6. I would have spent a lot less money rescuing bargain dolls, and saved up to get the ones I REALLY love. I probably also would have kept my limit at 6 dolls at any given time. I have 16 now, and I'd like to cut back more but I can't part with them. If I'd kept my limit at 6, this wouldn't have happened and there wouldn't be any impulse dolls.

    7. Oh, goodness yes, I would do things differently. I would have held off on my impulse buys *coughIplehouseGracebecauseIwassureI neededagirlcough* I guess I didn't trust my own instincts enough, so I stopped and looked and wavered when a whole lot of people said how wonderful and gorgeous a sculpt was. LOL, and here I thought I had gotten over peer pressure in high school. :P I don't do that anymore, though. I take note of what other people like because it interests me, and there are a whole lot of dolls and doll companies out there that I don't know about, so it's fun to see what everyone else is into...but it no longer influences my buying.

    8. If I could go back in time, I would have bought Dearmine Nocturn Eclipse when he was in stock at DDE. I regret it to this day and maybe I would have moved onto BJD's sooner instead of wasting so much on MH dolls.

    9. If I could go back in time I'd also do things differently. As much as I love him and won't sell him; I probably wouldn't have purchased the doll that was my first. I would have waited until one of the other ones I own were available.

I also think I would own fewer dolls, fewer wigs, eyes, shoes, clothes...stuff in general. I've become more familiar with smaller/European artist shops, so had I known about them, I'd probably would have waited for those.

But on the whole, I think I'd still own the same dolls I do now but maybe a few less.

    10. If I could go back in time I wouldn't purchase so many dolls so soon after one another. I went against my better judgment and continued buying MSD sized dolls before finally accepting after the 4th MSD sized doll purchase that the 1/4 size isn't really for me. I loved their sculpts and thought my opinion would change in time but it didn't and deep down I knew i'd have to sell them because it wasn't working out. Of course I don't regret that first doll purchase I made as I wouldn't have known otherwise that the MSD size wasn't for me, I just regret buying more of them afterwards and not sticking to the 1/6 size. I've slowed right down now when buying more dolls and prefer to focus on the ones I currently own.

    11. About the only thing I'd do differently would be to have put IH Leonard on layaway & damn the torpedoes....

    12. I don't think I would have changed any dolls I have, but maybe I wouldn't have purchased some of my floating heads--which I now need to sell.

I definitely would have spend less time buying dolls of other types. I need to downsize my action figure collection.

    13. If I could go back in time, I would have picked up a limited edition doll I loved even though I didn't like the face-up.

    14. I could have ordered a fullset Gloria, she came with a gift Elizabeth head anyway. And waiting to buy her body until AoD changed those ugly hands, even if it meant leaving her without a body for about a year...
Then maybe buying a Serendipity Noel while she was still available, even if my second-hand one is just as good.

I would have also bought more brownies, they were so cute!
And maybe avoid buying all those clothes and other stuff I don't use anymore.

    15. If I could go back to when to I started collecting with all the knowledge I have now, I would do a lot of things differently.
I used to buy and re-sell very quickly because I didn't know what I wanted, and I also glossed over a lot of sculpts and companies that are no longer in production, but I now think I would have liked.

So in all the dolls I have had (more or less 30?) , the ones I would still buy and KEEP would be:
      Limhwa human
      Soom Arkose
      Minifee Siean
      (+ my currently-at-home mnf mirwen & sarang 14)

I think dollfair was still in business and still somewhat reliable when I joined, so I would have gotten a full narae 60 and maybe a mini narin.
And definitely a few glorydolls. Especially Lucy.

    16. If I could go back in time I would have waited for my first ordered doll to arrive instead of buying an in-stock doll just to have one quickly (I later sold him at a loss). Then when the one I really wanted arrived I would have had all that money to spoil him.
