1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

If you could go back in time...

Jul 6, 2008

    1. i would have goten better clothes when i acctualy had the money to

    2. I would have purchased Sard, rather than looking and looking and ultimately deciding not to spend the money. Also, there are a couple impulse purchases that wouldn't happen.

    3. I wish I could have gone back in time to when I actually had guaranteed summer job, and tell myself to get off my high horse and start looking at these dolls. I wasted so much money on random things and food, none of it was really necessary or even brought me long term enjoyment. Now I'm scraping to save up every last dime I have. Aaah, and it was only a few months after I'd spent the last of my summer money that I really got into bjds... But heres to hoping I will get a job and income this summer, and then there will be no more hesitating.

    4. I wouldn't have done all my impulse buys. I made so many money-losing mistakes... I wouldn't have bought: Bobobie Ariel, Pukifee Luna, YoSD tanpopo, HDF Pie, LTF Flora, SD10 Nana, SDC Kaede.... Instead I would have bought SDF Jude (which I still plan to buy...)

I am glad that I bought SD13 Elena, SDG Charlotte, and KDF Ani...

I also would have entered some of the lotteries from Volks... I really missed out on some good ones....
From now on, I will not impulsively buy. Instead, I will only buy the ones on my list for characters, and some nice Volks girls~

    5. The only things I would change about how I've approached the hobby is, I wouldn't have dismissed it so quickly because of the price when Volks was pretty much the only company around, because that made me wait the better part of a decade before finally buying one...
...and I would have saved the image of a doll from Impl that I saw years and years ago, that was the first doll I 'loved.'
I've never since been able to find out what sculpt it was.

    6. I would run away. Screaming.

Honestly, I'd just not buy the dolls that didn't work out and perhaps buy dolls that I wanted, but didn't get. Maybe I'd tell myself not to buy so many dolls and stay away from the impulse buys when it concerns heads.

    7. "If I could turn back time..." (dang, EVERYTHING is a song cue!)

I can only think of a couple of things I'd do differently. First, I would not have sold the Kaye Wiggs head I owned -- Maya elf. I know where she is now, and how lovely she looks, but. *sigh*

Second, I would have broken down and snagged the full-set bronze Aphan when I was a millimeter away from pressing the "order" key. I'm not sure why I didn't; probably some misguided sense of virtue kicking in.

Like a lot of other people I'd like to say I would avoid the impulse buys, but I know better than to think it would work to say so. ;)

    8. Hmmmnn probably yes. I wouldn't have bought the ones that I've sold on in five years, and probably not bought six of the dolls I have now.

    9. ohmondieujetaime
Oh yes, it took me so long to find the dolls I really wanted..I certainly would have bought less dolls, and more expensive eyes.
I would have bought: One Delf Moon, one Delf Lishe, Soom's Galena and Coquina, and Arvid and Bichun. But considering none of those dolls were available except the Moon and the Lishe when I started, it would have been hard to accomplish this ;)

But now I have a herd of dolls I am very attached to, so it all worked out, even if it was more money than it should have been!

    10. I actually wouldn't have done anything differently. I've been very satisfied. Even the doll that I sold, I'd still buy her first all over again because I really enjoyed owning her for the time period that I did. :3

    11. I wish I knew my tastes better when I started. I also think despairingly of a couple of opportunities I missed out on that will NEVER come again. Like I passed on a chance to put a YoSD Kanon on layaway for $500. That will never happen again.

I wish I'd gone to the Volks mansion parties. To hear about it there were SO many One-Offs that just about everyone got one.

I wish I'd known better than to buy standard editions of anything. I wish I had a doll fund! I used to, but not anymore.

    12. Yeah, I'm with MilkyTea on this. I dearly love my collection just as it is right now. It took me 5 years of buying, selling, and refining to find the perfect mix for my crew, including a big change in the size I collect. It's been a wonderful learning experience...and a bit of a roller coaster ride at times:sweat... but I really enjoyed the ride and the end result is spectacular! No complaints here.;)

    13. Honestly if I could go back in time I would try to change substantial
things in my life and the lives of others....dolls are nice but they aren't
      that important!

The only "going back in time for dolls" reason I could really think of is I
would tell myself NOT to get involved in the hobby and to save the
thousands of dollars I've spent on a trip to Japan for my family, instead.
This really hit me hard after the tragedy on 3.11.11'.....that I'll never be
able to see Japan (the country of my family) as it used to be. Very sad.

    14. I think I would still have most of the dolls I have currently but I wouldn't have wasted so much time and money on dolls that were just wrong for me along the way. And just think what I could do with all those hours I wasted on the computer stalking dolls that wound up a disappointment! ;)

    15. I would have made myself "sleep on it" for at least a week on some of the impulse buys I did. I research and I didn't do that on 2 purchases. One I very deeply regret and forced myself to like her, another one I have on layaway right now so I only pray that she ends up like I hoped.

    16. If I could go back in time I would have stayed only with my first doll. Now I'm trying to sell all the others and unless the doll is a limited item, most of the time I end up selling all like half the price >_>

and this is only about this hobby...now if we start talking about life in general, there are many priorities and situations I would love to change...bah...

    17. My main regret was deciding I didn't need to check Soom's website as I had just ordered my first doll and nothing could ever be more perfect in the world...I missed out on Sard's order period because of it. My biggest regret, to. :>

    18. If I could go back.... My first doll would be a DELF Lishe. She was my 11th -_- and I absolutely love her. I felt like if I got her, I wouldn't have bought so many. She woulda been my only priority and spoiled to death XD
Now that I've spent time researching for my next ones, I now have a favorite body type and company. I love the minifees I have and would like a few more. From now on, I'll calm down from initial shock then really think about my decision.
I have 3 JID I don't care as much for becuase I loved the way they looked on the website -_- My "I" is gorgeous but I really shouldn't force myself to like their body types if I really don't :( Someone else could love them.
An example of a doll a had to calm down about what the first time I saw the feeple65 chloe fullset .... So beauitful!:D But then I calmed down and asked myself, where would she fit in my group? Who would she be? As awesome as the default clothes are, would she really hold on to them? I find my group dresses quite causual so the clothes that are cool but not exactly street wear, I don't use anymore -_-
I begged my BF for at least 6 out of the 11; those were fights I could have avoided XD and now I can't ask for anymore or I'll feel bad lol
It's too expesive of a hobby not to know exactly what you want. I was lucky

    19. I would have purchased clothes that weren't so style-specific. And I would..probably think really hard about my choice for my first doll. Maybe it wouldn't have changed, but still.. But absolutely, just watch what I would spend my money on. I don't need ten wigs for one doll! Wow!

    20. As someone who is very new to the hobby, I've found reading this thread very informative. I've definitely learned a lot. I just wanted to thank everyone who has shared their feelings.

My only regret is that I waited probably 6 years to actually buy my first doll.
