Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. If You Had To Choose One

Aug 8, 2022

    1. If you had to give up your whole collection and only keep one doll, which one would you keep and why? If this situation has actually happened to you what happened?

I love having huge collections so this would be a difficult choice for me but id love to see everyone’s thought processes to this scenario.

    2. This would be soooo hard for me. My immediate thought was to keep Amir (Angel of Dream Chen), because he was my first ever and has been with me for more than 14 years, when none of the others have been with me for more than 3 years. But I am so incredibly attached to Brendan (Migidoll Siho), I'd be devastated to let him go. So it's between those two, and I'd be really upset to lose either. Cooper (Migidoll Cynical Yujin) is pretty high up there too. I think I could part with the others if I absolutely had to, but I'd really have a hard time with those three.

    3. I think a lot of people would say the same -- that they feel a deep bond with their very first doll. I would keep my first one especially since I also did his faceup. I think this can also go for any doll which a person has spent the most time with. There are just so many memories and adventures. Even going back to look through his photos is emotional.

    4. Probably my first full doll, an Aimerai My Cocoa Rola. The company no longer makes her in tan and she’s small enough to not take up much room. I’m also very happy with how complete she is too.

    5. So the premise here is pretty difficult to me, that's the point of course! Ideally I would keep my two "favorites" Sven (doll in life rydel) and Marina (Aria doll narvy), but realistically I look at the prospect and in order to continue my hobby best what I would need to do is pick one doll that I love to craft for who was easy enough to take out for photo trips to parks etc. Because I like to sew for girls more it would be a girl if I had to pick only one, so possibly just Marina but maybe a different girl slightly less heavy or difficult on photo expeditions :XD:

    6. I'm going to take this as a "house is on fire you can only save one doll" since I wouldn't sell my dolls for any emergency financial reason. They're just not worth much. It would be Hina, my Lieselotte. Although she's my newest doll, she is my favorite and I adore her the most of them all. Her size is my favorite to sew for, she has the sweetest face, and it was a huge struggle to get her.

I still own my first doll but he'd honestly be near the bottom of the list. The company is gone, he'd be terribly hard to replace, but I couldn't choose him over Hina. I love her too much.

    7. Oh I would never give them all up except for one. Not happening. If it's a life or death situation, honestly they would all have to go as I would save my cats over dolls. But to be fair and answer your question, I would probably save my Elf Dia as he was my first big doll. Elrond would come in second because he has a lot of money sunk into him.

    8. Half of my dolls are replaceable but this is still difficult! I am super attached to my pukifee right now, she’s a little older but just perfect. Also she’s not easily replaceable and I have tons of wigs, eyes, shoes, and clothes in that size so I would keep her.

    9. I would save my Connie Lowe Sprocket Grim. She makes me smile, is small enough to throw in a bag. Everything else about her is a pain, her wig and shoes hate to stay put and her tiny body a pain to sew for, but the smile factor is way up on my list. Grim does not have a smiling sculpt, but her grumpy attitude makes me always smile.

    10. Uriah, my Dollshe Saint. Not just because I'm so attached to the character and what he represents to me, but because of all the hours I’ve poured into his mods. I would have to be in pretty dire circumstances to consider getting rid of any of them in the first place, though.

    11. Probably my Atelier Momoni momonita. She's the best poser, she's easy to clothe, she's cute as a button, she's very portable. because in this hypothetical scenario I would likely need to prioritize portability because it's the apocalypse or something and I need most of my focus on wrangling my cat.

    12. Argh...I would not be able to decide!

Realistically, if I gave up up the hobby, they would probably all go.^^

But in the very hypothetical scenario of "Fire, you can save only one even though you know you would never think about doll in such a situation", it would be a very though choice between all of them.

My heart says my Maskcat Yaël, since she is my first ever, the easiest to clothe, the easiest to sew for...but I do have a soft spot for my hybrid Argodoll/Maskcat, who is way more unique as far as body type go. That said, my LE Maskcat Willow or I.O.S. Levi would be harder to replace I think, but I also would be less heartbroken than if it was my two favorites. And in the latter cases, I mainly like their heads, so...

    13. Much as I love my BJDs if I had to choose just one doll to keep, it would be Dolly One-Leg who isnt a BJD at all but has been the leader of my enormous tribe of dolls for decades, and a companion on castle-hunting holidays with my godchildren (now grown up) as well as numerous historical reenactments, and conventions of various types over the years.

    14. If I could only keep one, I’d probably get rid of them all honestly.

    15. Yeah, I'd be the same, because I can't choose just one. It's too hard!

    16. In the hypothetical "House on fire" situation I don't know that I would pick a doll, as I'd be busy rescuing my pets. I rotate which doll is my favourite based on mood, and though a number of my dolls are now no longer being made, I don't know if I'd pick any of them over one of my Borys. If I had to SELL all but one of my dolls, it'd likely be my KDF Bory who remains. I have considered whittling down my collection but not to the extent of ONE LEFT. If it was ONE at every size I own that would be much easier:
      Tiny: Nyx's Creations Silk
      YoSD: HDF Bory
      Mini: KDF Bory
      SD: LR Andre
      70cm: Impldoll Tony

    17. You know, you’ve actually really helped me here…I’ve sometimes wondered if the way I built my collection over all these years was the best decision for me. I mean, I have 50-ish bjds, and that’s a lot! I’ve occasionally wondered if my collection has gotten “too big”. They’re all complete, with large wardrobes, and each is on display in various artistic vignettes throughout my home. This question made me walk around, looking at them all and trying to choose just one. And I immediately realized that to lose even one single doll, it would absolutely break my heart!:...( I’m so completely attached to each of my little resin darlings! So this little exercise enabled me to see that yes, quite obviously I did the right thing in building my rather large collection the way I did…and it’s not too many, in fact, it’s just right!:)

    18. Rip I think the only one I would keep isn't even a bjd. Bjd involve a lot more care and I'm more careful with them. I'd probably end up keeping my ball jointed doll.

    19. I...could not do it. I just couldn't. Even if the house was on fire I'd have an armfull of dolls! :atremblin

    20. Hands down - my boy Remi. He's the linchpin to my whole collection as none of them would exist in my home without his influence. I would mourn the loss of the rest of my dolls, but they could and would be replaced. Perhaps with better choices in sculpts LOL.
