1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Illusion Spirit Doll Discussion

Sep 4, 2009

    1. Aw, thanks! I made them using this tutorial. I wish I could get them in glass. Congratulations on getting your boy (soon)!

XD Well, I'm jealous that yours wasn't scary tight. No, restringing isn't hard, but it's a lot easier when there's some slack to work with.

    2. Ahh! He's so beautiful! ;u; Finally got him this morning! I'm absolutely in love with him! Abel says hi and Merry Christmas! I'm going to cut his wig a bit (surely I can cut a doll wig if I can cut my own), and order him some blue eyes. Red eyes aren't too suitable for an angel. xD Someday I'll have his wings finished, too. Right now I'm just happy to have him fffffff <3333 Have a webcam picture I snagged before church.

    3. Congratulations on your new arrival!

    4. I just received (yesterday) a ZhuJin (1/4) and the Spirit doll (27cm). Both came without faceup and they are just beautiful - I can't wait to do faceups and have them finished!

One question though - did anyone else have problems figuring out how to get the headcap off? I was afraid I'd break it off of ZhuJin until I saw how thick the tabs were.

    5. Hello! I recently brought home a tan ZhuQing and have a few general questions for others with this size. How do the IS minis compare to the standard in terms of size? In other words, is there anything I should know about buying clothing for him? Thanks! :)

Since most of my dolls are larger, he's currently trapped in silly outfits (and wigs) like this one:

    6. Hervoyel: I can help with this since most of my dolls are MSD and I recently measured all my dolls so I'd know what fitted/didn't fit when I went to DDE. My IS is also a ZhuQing, BTW.

The IS measured out at 46cm tall. This doesn't affect clothes buying all that much in my experience since most pants seem to have a little extra length. Some pants might ride a little high on the ankle (especially ones for shorter MSD's like MNF or RS), but not OMG!Floods! I think he's slightly more narrow in the waist than some of my other MSD's, but I'd have to check my notes at home to be sure. Shirts seem to fit fine and I think his arms (length & width) are pretty much in line with other MSD's.

His feet, however are narrow compared to the other standard-ish sized MSD's I have (AoD, MNF, CD) but not as narrow as RS feet. The length of the foot is comparable to other MSD's.

He also wears a 6/7 wig (like an RS) instead of the typical 7/8 that all my other MSD's wear. You can put a 7/8 on him (as I'm sure you're aware), but even with a thick elastic around his head, I found that the 7/8 Leeke wig I'd originally bought for him was still loose on him and prone to falling off/shifting around (he wears a 6/7 Spite & Malice fur wig now and the fit is great).

    7. Fantastic! Thank you so much for those details, Iron_Dog! :D

    8. This is my Illusion Spirit Minos, Keanu. He is quite unhappy about the random black dots that happen to gather on his wonderful jointed hands.

But other than that, he's a great doll! The hands are wonderfully poseable and totally worth it. As far as size, he's a bit too short for the pants he's wearing, but he lives with it. I recommend this sculpt for sure.

    9. Yes, it seems that IS dolls are rather long-limbed.

Are the black spots on the hands casting marks, TheGhostii? Otavi did come with some casting marks, but they were grey lines, instead of black dots.

    10. Hi all. :)
I'm thinking of adding an IS Zhu Jin to my doll family. Would anyone be able to tell me what size wig he wears? Would it be 6/7 like ZhuQing? Also what is his eye size? thank you!!

    11. My first BJD was a ZhuQuing. I love the sculpt, the resin is nicely done, and the body is double jointed with a wide range of poses and still looks great!

    12. My Zhu Qing just arrived in the mail today and I'm super excited to get home and open him up! I'll be sure to share some photos when i do~

    13. I had no idea that Zhuqing was such a popular sculpt. They all look so cute, especially the tan version!

      I can't resist sharing mine:

      His name is Yao. :)

    14. Just to add to the ZhuQing spam, here's mine. This is Sarojin. Face-up by the ever wonderful Angel Toast, wig (6/7) by Spite & Malice

    15. For those who have a 1/4 male sculpt from IS: would you say that he is at least somewhat manly? I don't feel that my 1/3 is all that manly, but he does the job. I've been considering getting a male 1/4 to go with my girls, but I tend to prefer mature looking dolls (which is why I usually go with 1/3). I soooooo want to take advantage of one of the Christmas sales going on now...

    16. I suppose it depends on what you mean by manly. I think my Seth is very manly, but my parents and a few friends still think he's a girl because of his face.

    17. I think the bodies are nicely sculpted although you might get a more mature looking body from AoD. I have both so if you wanted some comparison shots, I could do that for you. Bear in mind though that my AoD has full body blushing and my IS does not so the musculature of the AoD is more pronounced because of that.

    18. I'm not really sure about manly, especially compared to some larger sculpts. I do think that the IS 1/4 dolls are more mature-looking than a lot of other 1/4s out there, but that may just be me.

    19. Iron_Dog, that would be awesomeness! My brain keeps going back and forth on my next doll-move, so a little comparison would be coolies.

Also, I know I won't find a really "manly" 1/4 body, but I want something that's at least somewhat sexually dimorphic. The real issue will be finding a head I don't hate. I like my Minos, but I find it harder to find 1/4 that I like.
