1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

I'm rather upset with Dream of Doll... (doll problems)

Sep 29, 2006

    1. my girl feels veeeeery flimsy, and she's a DoC Petsha. She has a tiny crack, in a straight line, along the seam on her ankle. Her resin is, I dunno, grayish: she looks dirty... I wash my hands bfore I touch my dolls, every time, I swear, and yet her hands look like they're dirty and I can't wash it off when I use a damp rag. I clean her fairly often, I always q-tip her face-up and joints, but she looks grayish and her skin coloring is waaay off from it's original tint, but not yellow. She's strung pretty tight, which is how she came to me, and it almost looks as though the resin inside her hands is getting dented from the s-hooks. It makes me sad. She's sturdy, but I feel kinda like she's falling apart...:(

    2. actually I have had my doc hoo since 2003 and he's been going at it and still going without any problems. He has survived a year in moisture of HongKong, a child hanging him over the stairs and many faceplants on snow and other less soft places. I hope DOD's quality will go back to normal again x_x

    3. My Too is in really good condition and I've had him for going on four years without any trouble. Admittedly I have never restrung him (since the initial stringing hasn't given me problems), but I've never noticed chipping, and he's been roughly handled, like sleeping in my lofted metal bed with me. I've never seen his resin stain or anything else. It's really unfortunate that your doll seems to have so many problems.
Did you get it from the company? If not that might explain a lot of the shoddiness, no offense.

    4. I remember this thread from 2006 when I first decided to plan for a DOC Hoo for the future. We have quite a few locals with DOD dolls who didn't have any problems with their dolls and now I have my Hoo and recently got a DOB Pisce home.

Sadly, it does seem their resin is inconsistent, especially when you read the horror stories here. Maybe it would help to find out when a doll was ordered, the time time period it was made and delivery date to determine if the rainy season is a factor.

    5. My DoC Hoo was purchased about 1 1/2 years ago and he's in great shape. I don't know about faceups because I didn't get one of theirs. I have dropped him a few times and haven't had any issues. I wonder if they're having issues with their resin right now?

On the other hand, when I ordered him they sent the wrong second pair of hands and never replaced them (I could have paid for them and they offered free shipping - but I was broke from buying him!) and I purchased him when it said you'd get a bag with them. But by the time he came they'd changed their policy and he came in a box, even though when I BOUGHT him it said he'd have a bag.

I love my DoC but I might think again before ordering from them if I could get one in the marketplace or something.

    6. oh no :O this is terrible to hear. I was just considering buying DOC Kirill but now i'm not so sure :( i love their sculpts but i dont know if i want to take the chance that an expensive doll decides to suddenly crack or break ><

seconding posting when people bought their dolls to see if rainy season is a factor.

    7. Yes there seems to be a lot of inconsistencies :( sadly. I've had my U for 15 months (1.5 years on xmas) and counting now and he's still beautiful, less pink for sure, but still even and beautiful. :D He's been dropped a few times, once 3 ft onto a concrete floor, still unscathed :) and he has a default faceup.

If this bit of information helps, I ordered him on May 10th and he arrived home on June 25th, so he was not a rainy season cast. :)

    8. There's someone here (nickname : bahenol), she's my friend and ordered a DOC Kirill using my DOD account in June 2009. ^^ Her Lock (that's his Kirill's name) is wonderful, the resin is pinkish white, no cracks or defects, and beautifully strung. You can see photos of him in DOD's new Customer Gallery. ^^ I don't think you need to worry too much. Once in a while, there are defected dolls. Not just from DOD but from a lot of shops. >_> But that doesn't mean you can't tell them about it and let them do something about it... right? My Raven (DOT Homme Ducan) was brought in April 2008 and arrived in February 2009 (don't ask... it's a long story! ^^;;) and he's as beautiful as can be now! He's sturdy and the resin was heavy and thick... A LOT thicker than my friend's Reiji (Iplehouse YID Gentle Soori)... and a great poser, too! ^^ So go ahead and buy your Kirill... DOD is awesome!

    9. @shirayuki
I wish you well. But I agree mostly with fransyung, DOD wouldn't be as popular if it regularly had defects, overall it's a good company. But I've not really dealt with them since purchasing so it's not crazy big deal.

    10. thank you guys :) i feel better about them after reading so many good reviews vs few bad reviews. I'll give it more consideration. After all i think i've fallen in love with kirill ;-; now its just a matter of saving enough money to buy him hopefully before the event for a free face up ends xD

    11. Wish you well! Let us know if/when you get him!

    12. I think even the best of companies will have a bad batch once in a while. I've only had my Twing-key since March, she actually fell from my bed on her hands and not even a single finger cracked. She's a very pretty pink color, and as I've heard, she'll age beautifully into a peach color. AND, she was ordered during their holiday rush, but nothing about her felt rushed at all.

If you do get a Kirill, you might see he's very tightly strung, but if you stretch him out and play with him often, it'll loosen up. (after I took my girl apart a few times for face ups and sanding her joints, she loosened up considerably in about a month). Otherwise, chances are highest that the doll will arrive in wonderful condition.

    13. I got Luke DOI .. mine got some stone or dust in tiny black dot in hip and leg part joint resin TT__TT "" it's too deep for sanding them out so i give up << fortunately it was not shown outside
when i got him i get the wrong face up i order default and they gave me pinky color make up like a girl and the strung very loosen until he can't stand ... but after restrung and re face up I happy with my doll ^^ if ignore those problem DoD is still fine for me

    14. in dods defense , the resin ive owned and still do, has proven to be exceptional, as well as the service , ive had several dods over the years and still among my favorite never a problem with the resin, in fact perfection compared to volks and custom house and luts this after years of ownership of all. perhaps ive been fortunate? i hope you can contact the kind folk there, they are always so SO helpful, and sounds like you got a bad mojoe doll we are all just human, or resin. good luck, im sorry for your trouble and hope its resolved in your favour soon. .
