It's official, they took my beloved Tony sculpt off the market. Massimo is now as singular and unique as he's always wanted. Dolly tax will be forever paid by this guy.

@A Wee Tiefling Massimo looks awesome as always! I need to get Royce, my Tony, done so I can post a picture of him here. He's not vanilla-I worked on his nose and cheekbones a bit.

 

I'm so bummed about all the old sculpts being gone! I used to love the old Idol faces, and I don't remember their names and didn't think to save them because OFC Impl wouldn't just blank us?! But they did. I wonder if they'd let us archive the sculpts here?

 

I have been a bit out of the loop lately, so I just saw this discontinuation news. I can understand them wanting a fresh start and a more focused catalog (and I wonder if the molds for many of those sculpts were aging and not worth replacing?) but I now regret not buying another Nicolas head during the Thanksgiving sale! Husband has been in a career transition and we were moving, so I didn’t feel right spending on my hobby at that moment and thought ‘next year for sure’. Argh. I have been wanting to mod the sculpt, but irreparably changing one of my current heads is now a far more difficult decision knowing I might not be able to get another.

 

So much this!! There’s a bunch of them I really really wish I’d got at the time…

Also I meant to post this way back but kept forgetting. When I got my Lanny back in 2022 I also received a mystery head as a gift from IMPL… I am actually unsure of the sculpt I leaned on it being Azealia but I’m not sure if it actually is. It has the old Impldoll stamp on the headback. If anyone here knows who this is that would be amazing!

The head got slightly damaged in a mishap when I used it to test out a sealant that didn't quite agree with it :<

 

It could be Aurora or Azalea, but I was under the impression Azalea had elf ears.

 

@A Wee Tiefling thank you ! yeah I was actually thinking it might be Aurora! Though there is a version of Azalea without ears hmmmm…

 

I think it's Azalea! Aurora has more pronounced cheekbones and lips.

 

@Thymeseer Thank you! Yes, I think it is Azalea too. Which is funny because she was a sculpt I had on my wishlist for ages

I also noticed that her head is quite a bit bigger than my Mila and Eudora's heads.

 

Hi, friends. Does anyone know which sculpt this girl is? Impldoll featured her on their instagram and I'm in love!! I've seen people say she's a Tower of Babel Xiaoshu, but that's a 1/4 head and is obviously too small.

 

Hmm the characters they used for her name do translate to Xiao Shu, but maybe there's another company with a sculpt with the same name?

 

I found the original post on Weibo were the owner says it's a Tower of Babel head, but doesn't mention Xiao Shu, however, the fact that Impl does inclines me to believe that the head is a Xiao Shu head.

Also, here's a different post that Impl linked to where the owner clearly states they have a Tower of Babel Xiao Shu head on the same Impl body. So putting her head on bigger bodies is something people seem to do.

Edit: Found another post by original owner where the post translates to "leaked a picture of little Shu" Xiao more or less means little in Chinese.

I emailed Impldoll last week about purchasing a Tony head and they told me the head wasn‘t available, but they were going to release a new male body soon and ‚if the head fits‘ the new body they might bring the sculpt back.

I don‘t quite understand what they mean - like, wouldn‘t they know if the new body will fit the old head, wouldn‘t that have been taken into consideration when they designed the new body? Or is this just a generic ‚we‘ll look into bringing the sculpt back‘ and nothing will come of it? I‘m not familiar with their business practices or if this is a common issue.

It‘s really too bad because I put off purchasing an Impl boy and now a lot that I liked are gone.

 

I saw her too, she‘s so pretty! I was wondering why they showed off a sculpt that wasn‘t their own though.

 

The body is there's and it's basically just a repost to show off what people are doing with their doll products. Half of Impl's weibo is just them reposting people showing off their Impl dolls or part of dolls by Impl.

I'd lean towards it being more of a "we'll look into it" situation, since they did discontinue the head. There could be a lot of reasons why they'd discontinue him, even the possibility of the molds being damaged/ worn and them no longer being able to make any.
Since they've been revamping the aesthetics of their bodies, it's possible that the new male body will have very different aesthetics and measurements that won't fit well with the older models. They're probably not going to redesign the bodies with discontinued heads in mind, since some of their older sculpts are from a different sculptor than their current one.

 

Also have y'all seen the new girl they released? She looks so cute and considering I want the new body anyways I may have to bring her home Welcome to impldoll

 

I did see! I was wondering when they'd release this body! She looks cute but wouldn't suit my character, so I'm still going to wait until they release the new muscle girl eventually and make some comparisons xD
