1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. IMPL dolls Star, Model & Idol Discussion 16

Sep 2, 2022

    1. Most of the Switch boy heads I was thinking of are listed for 10.5-11cm necks to fit their 65-70cm bodies. There's about a cm difference between the impldoll body and the switch 64cm one, but I think even that has the option for a 9cm neck, so Huisa should fit fine on the impldoll body!

    2. I have that body and a Switch Yozo head I plopped on there. The proportions are very nice and the head can move perfectly. There's a tiny bit of gapping in the back but pretty much any wig can cover it up perfectly fine. I just made an imgur link because the photos were too big and I didn't feel like compressing them. I hope this helps! Your head may be slightly bigger than my yozo so it could look slightly bobble headed but with a wig it probably doesn't matter.

(Also I love my muscle body it looks gorgeous and is a great poser so good choice!)

    3. I checked again and Huisa D is for max 65cm bodies, so probably the neck isn't gonna be a huge mismatch. At worst the neck is gonna look on the thinner side compared to the head but not too hidehous (since their female matching body has a 9.4cm neck and it's not so different from 9cm). I have a very specific idea for the body shape and for now this is definitely the best body I found that matches my aesthetic/budget and proportion match (looking at the official measurments at least).

Thank you so much! This is really helpful, it doesn't look bad at all and it fits better than I thought! I checked and Huisa head should be a little smaller than Yozo, so I'm pretty sure it's gonna look fine.
The gap in the back is not a big issue since I planned a longer wig, so it should be covered in the end.
Does it pose well? I love bodies that pose well, so this is a plus.
I guess I'll try my luck as soon as I have the funds for it, now the only thing I have to find out is the resin match (mine is rosy white, so I guess a cream white or something like that)

    4. The posing is really solid I really enjoy how the newer impldoll bodies pose. I have two model bodies for a reason... I don't think it's as amazing as the heydoll 58cm body but still v nice. They have a mia white match which as I recall is a decent match for switch rosy white. The body may be less pink than the head though.

    5. Heydoll 58 body is just another league in posing, it's still the best body I own. But until the body is a nice poser I'm a happy collector! So knowing that the IMPL muscle body poses nicely is a super boost to my decision to get it!
My head is a little older, I should check the COA but it's for sure 4/5 years old at least, so the pink probably faded and it shouldn't be that far off with a more creamy color. Anyway, with a faceup the difference won't be that big.

    6. Okay, I need some recommendations for clothing and wigs. I got a Plaice secondhand, and the poor guy didn’t come with any clothes or hair.

I thought the no clothes wouldn’t be an issue, but being new to IMPL, I didn’t realize how drastically different his sizing is compared to the other Idol sized clothing I have from other companies (him being the larger one), and I’d prefer to try to find something stateside before jumping back into the international shipping situation. It’s a miracle my last international order made it here in one piece at all as someone had a field day going through it. Wigs, I am totally at a loss on. I tried searching the marketplace for either option, but only came up with maybe one or two options for clothing that were like what I was looking for that hadn’t sold already.

      Any suggestions?

    7. Impldoll has notoriously small heads, I find especially if you are leery of buying overseas keep an eye out for those cheaper fur wigs. They can be easily cut and sewn to fit the head nicely. I did that for Korone and it worked like a charm.

    8. There's some state-side dealers that typically have some wigs in stock but of course, you'll be somewhat limited on size, colour and style selection. If you have a FB or Instagram account, there's often people selling wigs there, too, and frequently they're also from the US. You could also go the make it yourself route if you're feeling crafty.

I'm in the process of making wigs for my Batchix Clever Littles (which are juuuust under a size 3) and the one wig is making me crazy because it just doesn't want to wig. But aside from that, with a little patience, making a wig isn't too hard when you're working with sizes larger than theirs. There's a fair number of tutorials here on DoA as well and searching bjd wig making on YouTube will get you a lot of results for making wigs in multiple methods.

Clothes... I can't add much as I make about 95% of the clothing my guys wear. Mostly because I like to sew but also because I have all the weird size dolls and the clothes they wear are often styles I make up in my head and can't find in the style/colour/size they need.

    9. Do you know of some good Facebook groups I could join for it? Or where I’d look on Instagram? I’m not totally against international, I just don’t want the nightmare situations I was reading about on feedback for sellers that are even just 99.9% or 99.7% positive where they’d ordered wigs like the size I need annnd got the totally wrong item…. And the seller was arguing with them about it. I couldn’t find any that were 100% :pout: It sucks cause the one wig I absolutely wanted was from a seller with that sort of feedback.

I’m definitely open to making some clothes for him, I just usually have something to use for a reference point or pattern to compare to first :XD:

    10. Shipping right now is crazy as far as cost goes. There's also 2 wig specific places in the US I forgot to mention. The first one primarily targets American Girl but they also have sizes in 8/9, and 7/8. Sometimes you can find an outlier that's 6/7 from those but not often. The other has multiple sizes available. I have purchased from both places and I was pleased with the quality of the wigs. I don't purchase often though as the shipping is expensive (I'm in Canada) and when my shipping is basically the price of the wig... And the exchange is also still terrible so that $20US wig turns into a $60CAD item after shipping and exchange.

Wigs for 18 inch dolls (based in Dallas, obviously)
ZaZouCustomDolls - Etsy Canada (based in Florida)

You can potentially browse around on Etsy, too. Most places will list the point of origin of the shop so as you browse you can sort of curate the shops that are in the US before having to start looking elsewhere.

Facets is also in the US and good but I'm not sure how much stock they have left as they primarily sold Monique. I've bought many wigs from them over the years.
Facets Boutique - Your premiere source for doll accessories!

For Insta, you'd probably be best to search using the hashtag bjd or something similar. They changed how their search function works and now it doesn't work nearly as well as it used to in my opinion. I'm unsure if there's a specific fb group for wigs. I belong to a few that are specifically sales groups because I'm heavily addicted to resin, lol.

    11. @WinterSong I've found some decent clothing through MoonlightBJD for my Idol man. They carry clothing for 72-75cm dudes in different styles. Unfortunately they're Canadian but they do ship to the US. Also I have a lot of basic clothing so if you need some basics I can put a lot together for you.

    12. I’ve newly joined Impldoll ownership — bought an Aries from someone on here second hand. He needs some work but I am loving this guy so much. I’ve never owned a doll this huge even though I’ve wanted a huge doll since forever. And I love his horns :D

The resin colour is gorgeous. I thought he’d be pretty yellowed from the pictures in the listing and was planning to either do a de-yellowing dye process or go with something crazy, but those plans were immediately axed the moment I unpacked a few pieces of resin. The seller said he was Real Skin — it’s darker than most NS, but not as dark as some tan dolls I’ve seen. Seems like it’s something in between, idk I really like it.

Wasn’t sure how I would feel about the sculpted hair in person. Figured if I hated it, it could be modded to accommodate a wig. I don’t dislike it though and will at least try to customize it before making that decision.

I will probably have to wait for the fall before I redo his face-up/hair, the humidity has been way too high all summer to use MSC. As I mentioned before, he also needs some work — there was a modification added to his neck that I want to remove. I’ve never sewn male clothing either so that will be a new venture as well.

This guy might need his own project journal thread.

Lastly, my housemate seems to love this guy too. Said he’s jealous of his ass :XD: (Third Generation Body)

    13. Congrats @Leenah on your first Impldoll! Aries is a handsome one too!

I used to own an Impldoll Aldrich, back in 2013, but sold him to reshell the character into the actual sculpt I wanted (ot for this thread). I do still own the head of my Impldoll Azalea, she’s on a different company body now because I didn’t like the Star SGB from Impldoll, it felt too stiff. I’ve owned her since 2016 (she just had her gotcha date a week ago!), but I upgraded her body last year and this year I changed it again, to a smaller one as her jawline was too narrow for the 2D Doll 68cm girl body (she’s on the 2D Doll 64cm V2 body now). I need to get a pic of her with my Moira.

Speaking of my Azalea, here’s a quick photo of her after her latest body upgrade, and repainting her again sooner than thought. I do really love her proportions on this body though!

    14. Sorry sorry sorry for not responding sooner. Things have been crazy. Just love this extreme heatwave we’ve been having here *_* It cooled off only to not be able to go outside cause of absolutely horrible air quality. Is it bad I’m totally clueless on what basics are??:sweat
